    60$ in restitution is the biggest slap in the face of a victim I have ever seen. 60 bucks, ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? Why even bother, talk about adding insult to injury.

    • @DJohnGrady
      @DJohnGrady 7 років тому +20

      Restitution for what, though? Just because she was victimized, doesn't mean that the money being paid is for victimization. It's perfectly possible the victim didn't want monetary restitution, and the $60 is for something else - for example, the gym membership dues she didn't get to use, because after the incident she couldn't go to the gym. Or the court filing costs.

      Ichibushido that's how I feel as well, people have seen that woman naked to no end and she just gets 60$ how shameful wtf

    • @Ichibushido

      D. John Grady That could be possible. But I would be surprised if the time and resources she lost going to court
      was worth as little as 60$. In any case I appreciate the extra perspective.

    $60 for ruining someone's self esteem? That's way too low. Are people's dignity and self esteem really at such a low price?

    • @tloomis01
      @tloomis01 7 років тому +6

      What the hell does social media presence and self esteem/dignity have to do with the other??? Are you insinuating that stuff that happens on social media only happens in the realm of social media? That if they aren't actively looking for subscribers or likes or whatever, that it doesn't matter that their privacy has been demolished and there are naked pictures of them on the internet? Because they are old...they don't know how to use technology...and they won't see them?

    • @tloomis01
      @tloomis01 7 років тому +6

      zh11147 ok. The thing is...I'm not a young chicken (or cat). I probably am not going to be watching some playboy girls snapchat or whatever. My sons, nieces, nephews, friends, etc MAY be following. The world is a small place. You never know who is going to see it! It is a BIG DEAL! It is not OK! It wasn't innocent fun gone wrong. It was an invasion of privacy & a sex crime. You can not take naked pics of strangers! Let alone share those naked pics! It's a big deal.

      I suppose it would have a less of an effect on an elderly person than a younger one but she still has to live with the fact that tons of people have seen her naked. More than most leaked photos as well because the story's gotten so much attention since Dani Mathers is a celebrity. If you take that into consideration, the lady probably has it worse than most people. The anxiety and self hate she must be feeling right now has got to me more than most victims like her.
      Personally, I think $60 is outrageous and even more painful to the poor lady.

  • @hoopsandcrossesuk

      TheEreder To be honest, I agree and was thinking the same thing. The picture is so crappy and you can't even see her face. Not to mention, what are the chances of the old lady even following her on Snapchat. Butttttt, the internet decided they needed to be outraged by something that day. All they really did was embarrass an old lady and she didn't even get paid. She got $60 for all of that embarrassment.

      Honestly i'm not mad at Dani for doing it without her knowing, i'm mad she did that at all. Showing everyone a naked old lady walking around a locker room, no one wanted to see that.
      Like seriously why do old people just not give a shit about being naked? Is it pay back for not being young anymore? Once when i was twelve at Lagoon in the swimming section there was a locker, and this massive old man was just sitting on a bench completely naked, kids everywhere and this guy doesn't give a shit. I say everyone when not in a closed off space of a locker room should be forced to wear either a towel or swimming shorts. Anything is better than having the elderly roam around naked.

    If Mathers isn't going to do jail time, she should have had to pay way more than $60 to the victim.
    $60 is what you pay your friend if you crack their phone screen, not the payment to a stranger who you exploit when they are at their most vulnerable.

    • @QPoily
      @QPoily 7 років тому

      She already is being punished had you bothered to actually look into the trial. She got 3 years probation, ban on possessing a camera/phone in situations where people expect privacy (as well as having to have permission of the person she took a photo of to post online), 30 days community service and the people she's worked with have also punished her from taking away her modelling jobs and what not.
      Plus the online backlash I'd say that's punishment enough.

    • @Yue27
      @Yue27 7 років тому +4

      QPoily
      well excuse me but I did look into it. To me it didn't seem like a punishment.

    • @QPoily
      @QPoily 7 років тому

      In what way does it not seem like a punishment?
      - 3 years probation = can't break any law/sentence she got or else her original sentence is put into effect
      - Banned from POSSESSING a phone/camera in locations where people expect privacy. (If she breaks this, she gets her full sentence due to probation). Also has to ask permission of anyone she made a photo of if she wants to put it online.
      - 30 days community service, 1 day a week at least = 30 weeks until that's done.
      - She's lost modelling jobs and sponsors
      - The internet backlashed hard against her and hates her. People have already made an example out of her.
      How is this not punishment? What more do you want from someone who took a fucking photo? Obviously you didn't look into this because otherwise you'd have known the older woman probably approves of the sentences she got.
      Gain some perspective and pretend that you got those sentences.

  • @yakattack2983
    @yakattack2983 7 років тому +229

    This world has turned into fucking looney tunes. She has to pay her 60$? How is that even a penalty that exists?

    • @QPoily
      @QPoily 7 років тому +1

      You're completely ignoring the other punishments she received.
      In addition to the 60$ (which isn't the real punishment) she got:
      - 3 years probation = can't break any law or she'll still receive the punishments before the plea deal
      - 30 days community service, forced to do one per week = 30 weeks of 1 day a week probation if deciding to spread it out.
      - Can't possess a phone in locations where people expect privacy such as locker rooms and stuff.
      The phone ban combined with the probation means she won't be carrying around her phone in certain locations for THREE years. And the 30 days community service means she has to at least spend a day a week for 30 weeks not doing whatever she did before.
      People are judging her way too harshly IMHO. Stupid outrage culture. People are losing perspective because of it.

      Honestly if someone robbed from me, i would want to shoot them twice in the face. Luckily i don't decide punishment for crimes, people who actually know what they are doing do. Stop being overly empathetic, the law doesn't fold around your feelings.
      And Droosk, you realize that if she takes her phone in a locker room she will get her full sentence, that's how probation works. Clearly people don't understand the law, they just tailor every case to how they would feel. Well guess what, how you feel is mentally challenged so stop it, stop it right now.

Just because she has an 'ideal' body doesn't give her the right to mock others nor invade their privacy and publicly shame anyone no matter their status or body type. Someone who goes to the gym is there to better themselves and their quality of life, not to be documented as something to be ashamed of.

      Jail is for violent criminals that need to be kept away from the public for our safety. This thought that everyone who does anything illegal should end up in jail is very sad. People who do something illegal, but aren't a violent risk to society, should be given extensive community service to give back and bring good from their crimes... they don't need to be sat in a prison for tax payers to take care of. Our prisons are already over crowded... we need to stop throwing everyone in jail and instead have them give back to the community.

Hey, I potentially scarred you and made you feel uncomfortable in a safe space and who knows if you'll ever actually feel safe in that safe space again but here's 60 bucks for your troubles.... FUCK! I've known girls like this my entire life and let me tell you, they don't learn! They only learn how to get away with it better next time! @pudchaa 7 років тому +4

      Gregg Stone They *did* hire him though. Seth rich's family was contacted by Ed Butowsky, a conservative businessman and Fox News/Breitbart contributor, who urged them to hire a private investigator to look into their sons death, offering to personally cover the expenses himself. The Rich family took him up on his offer and hired the PI that Butowsky recommended for the job: Rod Wheeler. And as far as the idea that wheeler was actually doing this for free, I haven't heard or seen that anywhere, this video is the only place I've seen that, so maybe take it with a gain of salt.
      Idk, seems like Butowsky (and based on what I've read about him, Wheeler, too) had an agenda and already had a theory in mind when it came to the Seth rich case. Instead of looking for answers and the truth, they seem more concerned with finding specific answers that support their hypothesis.

      I think she should have gotten jail time. Not years and years or something, but none is ridiculous. Six months would get chopped down to probably two or less and I'd have been fine with that on top of what she got. But with no jail time and the rate at which she has to do the service, it's like a bad grounding. You're in trouble so no phone and clean the house once a month. It's stupid.

    • @Fitzavig
      @Fitzavig 7 років тому +6

      I agree that a good amount of community service (non-negotiable) would be sufficient. Make her reflect after a few months of hard work and maybe, just maybe, she'll learn her lesson. Hard time will probably make her worse, and probation is a joke for people like her. I also think it would be rather difficult to discern a proper fine for this too, and it wouldn't deter her in the future without being extremely overboard.

    Danny needs much more time! That was such an invasion of privacy! That $60 will not put a dent in her wallet, but $60 won't repair the damage done to that poor woman who was simply just trying to mind her own business in a locker room.

    Jail wasn't the right answer to the Dani Mathers thing but a significant fine definitely should have been levied.

    for the dani mathers story, personally i think even though she got so much backlash, it shouldn't take away from the trial. those 2 things should stay seperate. if i do some shitty illegal thing and the sentence is say 2 years in prison but the internet now hates me too, that shouldn't take away from the sentence.

      That IS takeover story has taken a pretty big turn. And by "big turn" I mean President Rodrigo Duterte fucking killed everybody. Dude ran the military through the occupied region, executed everything that resisted, shut down a known terror cell, killed a known IS link and everyone in his building, and put the part of town known for islamic separatist movements under martial law.
      Actually, as I'm writing this, all of Midanao is now under martial law, not just one part. Quote from the president: "If I think that you should die, you will die. If you fight us, you will die. If there is open defiance, you will die. And if it means many people dying, so be it." This dude is not fucking around, and many people are about as afraid of him as they are of ISIS and the ISIS affiliate groups springing up in their area.

I know you've mentioned in the past not wanting to alienate viewers who don't want such a long show, but what about recording a long show, and then having a separate, more edited down version put up with it, like a highlight reel.

      Christopher De Freitas The judge only gave her a small fine as a nominal damage so now the victim can file a civil suit against Dani Mathers.
      The victim would probably win $50K-150K from a settlement.

    Dani Mathers IMO should have had to PAY significantly more than 60 bucks to her victim. I think a paltry $60 is insufficient compensation for the older lady's pain and suffering. I understand the lack of jail time though for a non-violent first offense. CA jails and prisons are already filled to the max with violent offenders and foreign nationals from south of the Rio Grande, etc.

    As I have come to expect from your channel, the integrity of your investigative journalism is superlative. You continue to set the standard for news that seeks the truth, not ideological narratives or corporate interest. In an era where public cynicism towards media and politics is ubiquitous due to a status quo of deception, the need for unimpeachable journalism without an agenda cannot be overstated. A free society is tethered to the notion that accurate information is not a privileged commodity. The mainstream media, however, is owned (though not necessarily operated) by a few elite global juggernauts of wealth and power, leaving the interests of unbiased news in decidedly dubious hands. The last bastion of the free press is smaller outlets like you, and the importance of your work cannot be overstated. Thank you for being the vanguard of the truth, and keep fighting the good fight.
