I can't believe that after 35 years Challenge Anneka is back with the same theme!! It's a proper nostalgia trip and the woman still has the same infectious energy and doesn't look like she has aged 5 years, let alone 35!!! Amazing.
Wow, just wow. I remember so many family saturday evenings huddled round the TV to watch Challenge Anneka and Casualty. I was 9 when this first hit the TV screen. Thanks for posting and reviving many many fond memories :o)
Love it at 0:15 as Anneka appears on the screen as a whirlwind! Great titles and they remind me of my childhood, so thanks for sharing! Don't remember Anneka being that hot!!
I well remember the programme. I was 19 when it started and 25 when it ended. The tune I also remember - in the keys of F and then G major. Shame it couldn't continue.
Ha ha ha Anneka Rice was the main fantasy of many a teenage boy in the 80s and 90s in her tracksuits lol she made shell suits sexy. I used to love sat night telly it was the best day of the week Challenge Anneka she was brill. x x
It think it was Saturday nights. I used to watch it with my mum, dad and brother! They would stop in some nights just to see if Anneka could complete her challenge! Happy days! =D Bring it back!
They had that cool buggy car also I sure it was driven out the back of the lorry. As a kid I was just "WOW" I remember that guy with the flurry boom microphone getting wet and hair drying it. He was a charecter.
when you think of it, this was the first of the DIY SOS The big build kind of programmes. years ahead of its time..... good stuff bring it back (i'm sure Nick Knowles won't mind)
I think the fact that there is comments on here from 7 years ago is just as amazing!!lol Yea love a bit of nostalgia, classic show, always in a panic wernt she!lool
riddley39 yeah she was but the challenge wasn't always about whether she could do ther job but do it within a certain time limit and it can't have been easy at times
Is it my imagination or were TV theme tunes just generally better in the 80s and 90s? You had this, Noel's house party, Treasure Hunt, Howards Way, You Bet, even the National Lottery had a decent theme tune back in the day!!
Not sure they were better. This one is very much "stock BBC". I think perhaps though that some of the shows were more prominent as there wasn't as much else to watch. The theme tunes stuck in the mind more simply because of that.
I took part in a Challenge Anneka years ago, helping build an adventure playground for blind children. We fabricated the components weeks in advance.Nice show, bit of a con tho.
I remember watching this with my dad...I didnt always get it and hated the boring map reader people, but still enjoyed Annekka jogging around bothering people with questions.
This was on Saturday nights! I have a recollection of her renovating some stables in one of the episodes! How cool was the deconstucted jeep vehicle she used to drive around in!?
@poopoolaroo2 Well said! I couldn't agree more. TV programme makers should be utterly ashamed of themselves now. They seem completely incapable of creating the same quality entertainment, that shows like Challenge Anneka were. Unfortunately the best they can offer now are repeats!!
I have one of the original buuggies (there were actually 2) from the first series. Several years ago when I first aqquired it, also when I had very long blond hair (I was into rock!). I was in my overalls (blue) working on the buggy in my garage. I needed some bits so jumped into the buggy and drove to the high street. As I jumped out I caught a glimpse of my reflection in a shop window...... clearly the worst Aneka Rice drag impressinist!!!!!!!
hi remember this programe well. remember the hedgehog crossing in the titles . did they give the hedgehog reading lessons as well so they would know not to use the heghog subway . no they didnt so what a waste of time that was .poor little hedgehogs. as programe got too ms in it .need to go to hedhog school .lol.
@poopoolaroo2 I totally agree. Gone are the day's of classics like this. All you get these day's is phone-in, text and or red button shows. all way's of making money out of you.
These days, she probably wouldn't be able to do any of the stuff she did in this prog because of health and safety nonces. And that massive lorry would get firebombed by a gang of scallies no doubt. And the theme is on a par with animal hospital.
It really was a brilliant era, the 90s, bbc Saturday night this, noel Edmonds House party and generation game, I wish I could go back 😢
Yeah. Loved that period of time!
I would have been in my twenties then and so a young adult. Now in my early fifties!
I can't believe that after 35 years Challenge Anneka is back with the same theme!! It's a proper nostalgia trip and the woman still has the same infectious energy and doesn't look like she has aged 5 years, let alone 35!!! Amazing.
Can't WAIT to watch on Saturday night!
I once saw the Challenge Anneka truck as a kid
So exciting
I remember watching this. She had amazing energy on the show. Was certainly ahead of its time
well when you're taking on a challenge and only have a certain qamount of time t ocomplete it you kind of have to be.
I use to watch Challenge Anika when I was a kid. I had such a big crush on her. She was beautiful and had such a lovely demeanour
Oh the memories! 😍 Love this theme sooo much 💗
It's great!
This takes me back to my youth. I used to love watching Challenge Anneka and Treasure Hunt
What a memorable tune. If I could write something that would live on in the minds of millions in decades to come I would die a happy man.
Thank you, Will. I did write it and now I'm a happy man.
David Mindel awesome! This is a classic theme. Summed up the energy and "let's get it done" attitude of the show perfectly. Happy memories.
Thank you, Richard. :-)
David Mindel - without a doubt, my favourite tv theme growing up. Such high energy and so catchy! Genius. Did you do others too?
Yeah, about 50. The best known was Jim'll Fix It, but I'm not allowed to mention that now. :-(
I loved watching Challenge Anneka. It just showed how much good will there is in the world.
Anneka rice running round in Lycra is what sticks out in my mind, oh to be 12 again 🤣
Wow, just wow.

Same here, sorry for replying to your 14 year old comment lol.
I am much older than you, as I was already an adult when Challenge Anneka came out (nineteen actually!)
These were the days, weekends spent indoors during the early 90s
I’m here after finding out that challenge anneka is returning to tv on channel 5
The saxophone, the instrument of early 90s television!
Love it at 0:15 as Anneka appears on the screen as a whirlwind! Great titles and they remind me of my childhood, so thanks for sharing! Don't remember Anneka being that hot!!
There are a lot of problems that this world has right now. All of them have to be solved ASAP! ANNEKA, WE NEED YOU!
Makes me very nostalgic
An excellent theme tune ;)

Also, another feelgood show still missed by the watching millions..
Thanks so much, Dave

It think it was Saturday nights. I used to watch it with my mum, dad and brother! They would stop in some nights just to see if Anneka could complete her challenge! Happy days! =D

I lover these titles. I think these were the best out of the two available although I liked where the included raising Atlantis on the later ones.
Lol any barshens fans watching this??
The stuff nightmares is made of.
What's Hong Kong got to do with it?
Barshens :D

Yes, I remember the theme tune very well, as my musical memory is good. The key is in F and then G major!

Challenge Anneka was AWESOME -Anneka was fricken HOT in the jumpsuite. Good times,
providing the world gets to plug its company to a prime time Saturday night audience on BBC1.

We need Anneka to fix the World's problems!
this is definitely one for the lost tv themes slot on Paul O'Grady's Show on Radio 2
I remember watching this with my dad...I didnt always get it and hated the boring map reader people, but still enjoyed Annekka jogging around bothering people with questions.
That was Treasure Hunt
Keith was the cameraman! LOL! Memories of watching this!
Anneka'll Fix It!
Although I can see why they never called it that...
Nothing documented about her touching little boys.
This was on Saturday nights! I have a recollection of her renovating some stables in one of the episodes!
How cool was the deconstucted jeep vehicle she used to drive around in!?
I rember her tracksuit more than anything else

I've been in the back of that truck!! :-)
It is coming back, at the start of 2007 I believe, this time on ITV1.
I met Anneka Rice! Well I saw her in a restraunt once.
Did you order her with some Edwina Currie?
Ashens brought me here XD
It would be good if the programme was repeated on Challenge because its exactly what challenge should show imho
hum this, and then hum "under the sea".
0:06 A sound so good Microsoft stole it for their first operating system in 1992 and have used it with every new release upto present day.
hahaha brilliant! Can't unhear this bit now :)
Microsoft's first OS was released in 1985

OMG do you still own it 5 years later 😀 what make was it?
That bridge that she delivers at the end of the title is dangerously low and I don't think any other ships would be able to fit underneath it.
CLASSIC
Love challenge anneka
I have to admit to a massive crush on this lady in my teens.
Has anyone got the Rumanian Orphanage programme they can post?
Awesome 😂
I always wanted her buggy!

@taylorgoff235 Cool! What's his name?
this was the beginning of the end. make over shows eerrgghhh.
@taylorgoff235 Tell him the animation is spot on!
Why does the BBC not make shows of this quality any more? What's their excuse? Budget cuts? Boring and uninspired staff? I don't know.
This whole show was a sham. It emerged later that each episode was carefully set up beforehand. Be very wary about idolising the past.

And also because Anneka is so hot!
