yeah, i mean being the head of the army does give you great millitary strategy experience the ally invading part is especially realistic as thats how he would have led the union, i doubt it would go that well for them though because the usa would navally invade from anchorage unless the soviets do the exact same first
Although this is obviously exaggerated, it's still worth to admire just how good of a military leader Trotsky really was. Trotsky as the first marshall and/or General secretry would also mean there would've been no purges and the USSR would be standing at a much better footing once Germans make their funny mistake.
