  • The so-called clothed bust of Tutankhamun (Carter Nr. 116) is being carried by an Egyptian here. The perspective of the image makes it appear as if the bust is walking on its own pair of legs. Howard Carter (in front) accompanies the bust to the lab, while Lord Carnarvon sits on a low wall to the left. To the right of the lord is Arthur Weigall, Carter’s successor as Chief Inspector for Upper Egypt and then correspondent for the Daily Mail newspaper. He is considered to be one of the first to propagate the “Curse of the Pharaoh”.
