I'm 67, and I had never heard this song until Angelina sang it. I absolutely loved it, and placed it right up near the top with a few others that I thought were the best songs by Angelina. After listening to it around 50 times, I finally decided to check out the original. I'm pretty sure I had never heard Adele sing anything before, but after hearing Angelina's version, I only made it about half way through Adele's original. It just seemed 'bland'. She has a nice voice, but to me, it lacked the emotion, the feeling, that Angelina puts in every song. I'm sure I've listened to Angelina sing this 500 times now, and I still wiped a tear. To me, this is Angelina's song. I feel she owns it after this performance.
Adele is a magnificent songwriter, no question. But - after listening to Angelina sing an Adele song, I can't go back. Angelina adds her own spices to the song that makes it her own masterpiece. Pure ear candy! Thanks for the reaction Samantha.
Angelina is the barefooted Queen of Soul with a Thousand Voices! She weaves musical tapestries in all colors of the rainbow with her beguiling voice! Her musical artistry is second to none and it not something that can be taught. Soul + Music in perfect harmony!
Two great singers but the difference is simply that one is a non-jazz singer and
the other one is. The nuance and inflections Angelina is able to bring to the ballads
she sings, just permeates the human soul to depths that a non-jazz singer, even
one as great as Adele, can't match. Angelina incorporates 'breathy' aspects from
Billie Holiday, and adds to this Amy's uniquely different jazz style which no one
prior to Angelina was able to duplicate. Add to this the superb, seemingly unlimited
ability of a girl who has been in love with jazz since she was a baby, results in the
most astounding delivery through the listeners ears that is just boggles the mind.

Exactly. Adele's singing and songwriting is nothing short of incredible. Truly she's one of the best on the planet. However (and you knew this was coming) it's pop. And it sounds it. I've discovered that the current artists I prefer, regardless of popularity, don't really sound like pop singers. Billie Eilish with her beautiful, barely there vocals, Aurora with her magical ability to shift from unspeakable fragility to Gaia like power, and of course, Angelina. The vocal fry, the breathiness, the thick tone, her insane breath control, her sheer jazzy virtuosity. There is so much going on it just makes Angelina a lot of fun to listen to.
Even as a kid she sang as though she had lived the song.
She’s sitting down singing. Difficult to do because this position compresses the diaphragm and makes breathing a little bit harder. Wow. She’s nailing it!
I thank Adele for writing wonderful songs that Angelina can cover, better than the originals. I think Adele has a powerful and very pleasing voice, but she doesn’t have the soul piercing emotion that Angelina does. Adele doesn’t have Angelina’s tender breathiness and I have never heard Adele do a run like Angelina did in the second verse of this song. Adele will get of her well deserved accolades and rewards for writing and singing this song. Angelina’s version made it a masterpiece.
IMHO Angelina's "demo" recording of "I'm Still Holding Out For You" (2016) is her masterpiece. The video was produced and LEAKED by a third party (2018). It is a unique blend of jazz, soul, blues and modern pop. It too bad that Angelina doesn't own the rights to the song.

I came back to watch this again, and wipe away that tear that seems to follow this song. Next up has to be Angelina's studio cover of Adele's song "Easy On Me" which was put out 12 days after Adele released it. I've heard Angelina said she felt a connection to the song as soon as she heard it. That could explain how she was able to do a TikTok video of the song 6 hours after it's release and her official cover 12 days later. Some people think Angelina is singing about her life thus far when she sings the cover.

I think what is "different" about Angelina that sets her apart from other singers is that she is modest, humble, classy, and authentic. All of these qualities are extremely rare in today's music and entertainment industry. Combine that with her gorgeous tone and intelligent musicianship, and you have a once-in-a-generation artist.

Wonderful reaction to this great cover, Samantha. Samantha, what a wonderful reaction to our one and only barefoot Princess! Your comments prior to the start of the song were very respectful to those who have not discovered Angelina yet or, to those who have and are not with us quite yet. Personally, the way I handle the situation of introducing her to someone new is to keep my comments down to a bare minimum and do one of the two following approaches: First, get a feeling of what the person you have met is like and play something for them on your phone you think they will like. Watch their reaction. It is so much fun! Or, another approach is to tell them to put her on their phone and suggest a song or two for them to listen to. This approach is a little risky because you don't know if they will follow through but the advantage to this method of introducing Angelina to someone is that they will listen to her in private and, as we all know, that is a whole new ballgame. It's just them and Angelina.
Samantha, in regards to her version of 'All I Ask' , how can there be anything better than what she did? The setting was spot on and with the 3 time Grammy award winner on the keys this is a production which will never be forgotten.

Most people discover their emotional world while living their lives, Angelina seems to know it in advance! What a rich spirit and fantasy she must have! So nice that she wants to share her love for music with us!

Angelina has seemed to know "less is better" from a _very_ young age. Her performances in _Norway's Got Talent_ make that abundantly clear. But I want to talk about an especially revealing rehearsal session for a one-off appearance at a "consumer-goods industry event" in November 2014 (when she was 8), where they run through the Etta James classic "At Last" multiple times. The first time is too fast, and way too "busy", musically speaking. Angelina makes it clear, nonverbally, that she is not happy at all: she screws up her mouth, shakes her head, and points downward, seemingly indicating that the tempo should be slower. But she pushes through and sings the entire song, never showing her displeasure to the band, who is behind her. Midway through, though, she is motioning for someone off-camera to come over to her (presumably to discuss what she didn't like about the musical accompaniment). Smash-cut to the second take: it's much better - slower, with less obtrusive instrumentation, giving her more "room to maneuver" in her vocals. She indicates with a quick thumbs-up and nod of the head that she likes it better. The third attempt is a bit slower still, with even less going on in the instrumentation. In the end, Angelina seems satisfied. (The name of the video is "Angelina Jordan rehearsal (At Last) Part 1 2014", on her Fanclub Mosarz channel.)
This rehearsal reminds me of the story Jack Lemmon used to tell about being directed in a film scene to "do less", over and over, until he finally says, "If I do any less, I won't even be acting!" (or words to that effect) - to which the director repsonds, "Exactly." I can imagine musicians accompanying Angelina being advised to "play less" until they wonder whether they will even be noticed by the audience. If asked, my response to this would be, "Exactly."

Ok, first of I’ve been a fan of AJ seen her iconic first performance on AGT and I dove in the deep end of the AJ pool - it took watching these reactions and reading the comments to understand HOW a teenager can make a 65 yr old man cry ( it’s called “the Angelina Effect “, so it’s not my fault). I’ve notice that Angelina has a favorite type/style of microphone that she uses in her videos, is that true for the great singers? I’ll have to admit it picks up her singing parts rather well especially in the lower notes, very distinctively. My guess is, like arranging her own music, that the choice was her own too. It looks expensive .

Bruno Mars co wrote this song with Adele and also released it. He has has two back up singers, drums, guitar, etc. he needs a whole orchestra to support him against this young ladies rendition.
