    I'm quite sure I was suffering from this too. Now I'm more focused on pure oils treatments, shampoo and mascaras with oils to achieve its hydration again, since the protein made my hair fragil and dry. We have to look the ingredients in the products bc the industry is putting a lot of keratin in literally everything. Thanks for the video

    I literally just had protein overload and was able to recover in 2 washes. Every single product I was using, had some form of protein in it, and I would wonder why my hair was always so dry. Now I use only 4-5 products max. Protein is in so many products, it takes much research and Ingredient reading/googling to find truly protein-free products.

      cutenobi Same!! My virgin, NEVER heat styled hair is going on three months of protein overload and still doesn’t look it’s best. It’s so frustrating to have spent 6 years lovingly caring for your hair just to have it break and lose its curl definition. Hang in there! It will get better. And it’s not JUST HAIR....it’s your hair and you deserve to have hair that you love.

    I'm in protein overload rehab now because silly me decided to try rice water on my hair... I'm like a child sometimes, give me time and watch me find something to get into🙃 What has worked wonders was using the Joico Defy Damage shampoo and hair masque right away and trimming my ends, then cowashing weekly, doing the baggy method weekly (leaving on a few hours not overnight), using aloe vera juice (from the leaf) to moisturize and argon oil to seal my ends. And leaving my hair alone... I've been the top bun queen for the last 4 weeks. My hair is doing sooo much better, the softness and manageability is coming back.

    • @kalishajnz

    • @chrism3152
      @chrism3152 4 роки тому

      @@kalishajnz I have fine (thin strands) and thick (lots, lots, lots of strands) hair, so I tend to have issues with really thick products. The masque is light despite providing plenty of slip... my hair felt balanced, soft and the shedding stopped. You don't need a lot of either the shampoo or the masque so I'd recommend getting the Defy Damage Care Trial kit from Ulta, it's $17 and gives you 2-3 uses of both...I haven't used the conditioner or heat protector (included in the kit) yet but plan to at some point.

    I use more protein than the average person I think. I wash once a week and one week is moisturizing the next protein but my leave ins that I use weekly after wash day has protein in them. So far it works for me but I did have a time where I had protein overload. My hair just felt funny and when I went back through my hair journal I found that I was using too much protein. I've suffered from protein overload before I knew my hair was low porosity/protein sensitive. Now I only use protein once or every two months. I'm constantly checking the ingredients in products so I won't experience protein overload again. Do companies have to put alot of protein in their products and why? Some products I would like to use and can't use because of the protein.

      I’ve been dealing with protein overload for 7 months and it’s driving me crazy. I’ve shed a lot of hair trying to figure out how to recover. I was doing protein treatments every two weeks. I’m trying to learn when is best to use protein.

    • @jmocha74
      @jmocha74 4 роки тому +2

      @@cutenobi First check the ingredients in all your products. Shampoos,deep conditioners,conditioners, and leave ins that have protein in them should only be used once a month or every two months. Styling products that has protein in them can only be used once a month. Alternative between moisturizing shampoo/ deep conditioner and clarifying/sulfate shampoo /deep conditioner. Meaning if you wash your hair every 2 weeks use moisturizing shampoo and deep conditioner. Next 2 weeks use clarifying shampo or sulfate shampoo and deep conditioner. Make sure none of those products has protein in them. When you moisturize/seal make sure none of those products have protein in them. This what helped me recover. You're going to have to change your hair routine if it means throwing some products out.

      Olaplex does not have protein, but it repairs the sulfer bonds in your hair. I love olaplex. It has restored my hair when I thought all hope was gone. It even worked better than protein treatment for me. But it DOES dry out my hair after awhile...even with deep conditioner. I had to give it a break and start deep moisturizing only.

    Your hair seems shorter did you cut it or did it break off.

    Hello Diva:-) How does a woman get protein overload???

    Hi..Please I use this deep conditioner, Sunny Isle JBCO Intensive Repair Masque(Damage Reversal). I didn't know if it was moisturizing or protein. I sent the company a mail to find out, dm them on their IG page, and I never got any response. I saw this particular ingredient, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, but is part of the last 5 ingredients on the package. So is it a balancing moisture-protein deep conditioner??...and I use it with the fenugreek paste which is rich in protein so is the combination okay or it's bad?

    See, protein overload symptoms are exactly the same as bleach damage..so I'm confused because they say that with bleach damage you need protein treatments but my hair is already dry, brittle and breaks off ( exactly the same as if I had protein overload) so I don't know what to do.
