I just want to say a big thankyou to Colin and all the Guitaristas viewers that have supported me and recently bought pickups. It's certainly been a nice boost to business and I'm currently working on some exciting projects. So thankyou and Merry Christmas to all you wonderful people out their in guitar land.
Cheers Ben, you've been a great discovery for us too and I'm proud that a couple of my 'projects' are now wearing your pups! Onwards and upwards in 2023 I think it's going to be a good year mate!
In response to the "do you want to gig with a Harley Benton": Yes, I do! I have 2 DC Juniors that I proudly gig with together with my 2 Epiphone SGs. I don't care about headstock shapes or the name that's on them. I care about overall look, sound and whether I connect with a guitar. And I do with the ones I have :-) No-one in the audience really cares what you use anyway. Most people don't even look at the guitarist and only look at the beautiful singer (which happens to be my wife in my band ;-) ) hahaha. Seriously, would I want to own a high end or vintage Gibson? Of course! Am I worth it? Probably not. Would I *dare* to use such an expensive guitar in the pubs and places I play? Probably not.
My 3 new 2022 purchases were Cort GA MY accoustic £299 GuitarGuitar bargain! currently changing hands for £400/£450 on ebay Epiphone wilshire P90 £299 Andertons bargain, Again going for £400 on ebay! Shows if you buy right you can make a few quid along the way too👍 Happy Christmas Fella and fellow Guitaristas 👊
Its Christmas. So before all that misery begins I've just picked up an Epiphone Coronet in Cherry for £350 (GuitarGuitar next day woo). Pulled the pickguard off. Removed the Epiphone badge from the headstock. Put a white dogbone cover on the P90. Going to spend all day today being Steve Marriott. 🤟
All killer, no filler! Cheers Colin and many thanks for all of the smiles this year. I hope that you are yours are happy and healthy through the holiday season and that you have an appropriately pissy Chrissy.
Merry Christmas Colin. Seeing your compilations the past 2 weeks makes me appreciate how much effort you put into coming up with riffs that highlight the strengths of each guitar. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you have coming in the new year.
Great stuff man! Not lookin just got me a 2016 Epi. Whole Lotta Humbucker, Gibson Tuners, Mids preamp, Push Pull, everything. I may not buy another guitar!

The quality of your content is second to none and for me you could be the next door neighbor, that's how good you are at what you do Colin, that's extended to any team members you have working in the background. One of the best Subs i have made since i can remember. Thanks Colin, have a great Christmas and i speak for us all when i say we are looking forward to taking in more from the Guitaristas in 2023. Thank you for all your time and effort reviewing these guitars. I really appreciate all the work that you do that goes into these videos and sharing your expertise and passion for guitar collecting and music. Look forward to new videos in the new year. 🎸🤘🏽
Following your film on the Epiphone SG Custom, I decided to buy one, which I received today, a few hours ago. I am simply stunned by the finish, the quality and the sound. I have other Gibsons, and indeed, there are some differences, but the distance is not so huge nowadays from the "main" brand. As you put it well, "I am not rushing into buying a guitar just because of the name on the headstock anymore". Thanks for this fantastic work, Colin. Merry Christmas, and I sincerely look forward to continuing to enjoy your company through these superb films.

I freely admit that I am a cheap guitar addict. They bring me great joy. There are worse things you could do with your time and money. I buy them and try them. The ones I like stay, the rest move on to better homes and the beat goes on. Just got a new CV '50s Tele for Christmas. It's great. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all and here's to more Guitaristas in the new year. Cheers everyone!
When I saw the 'under £500' in the title, I was scared that the Epi white tux wasn't going to make the cut. Happy to see that it did. Awesome guitar and well worth the money. Happy Christmas, Colin! 🎄
Merry Christmas Colin. Cheers to a great year in review! Let’s enjoy the Holidays and then get stuck in to a fabulous new year. Love your channel, mate.
Good job on this Colin! I do love that Firebird, will have to save my shekels and buy one. I lucked onto your channel a few months go and have been a loyal follower ever since. A very Merry Christmas to you and yours! Cheers brother!
My plan was to buy a coronet for Christmas. As it was, I bought the last one in the shop a few months ago. But you have reminded me to think of it as my Christmas present to myself. Better go play it. (They back on stock now , but not a cheap as mine was)
Love your channel, Colin. A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to come across a clearance deal when Gibson was going through financial troubles. They had a warehouse at their Memphis plant, and when they closed it they sold a bunch of their overstocked guitars to a large online dealer here in the US. That dealer ended up offering Gibson USA SG Specials for 550 USD. Other than having a dried out fretboard, the one I bought has been incredible and a real revelation for me with regards to how SG's play. It has a really nice satin nitro finish and mini-humbuckers- it's a guitar that I was contemplating paying full price for just before this deal came up. I also own a few Squiers- including a 70's CV Jaguar and a J. Mascis Jazzmaster. They discontinued the J. Mascis now, but I highly recommend trying one out as that to me is the epitome of truly great value for money when it comes to guitars.
Cheers man, those older specials were great value... I have a 2013 Gibson SGJ which is similar and cost me £399 new!! Hang onto that man it's a piece of history! 😁👍
Nice round up Colin. If the financial costraints hadn't been so bad this year I might have taken a chance on the Firebird and unleashed the inner Johnny Winter or Phil Manzanera. Really enjoyed your videos throughout the year. Best Chrisrmas wishes !
Merry Christmas, and thank you for making very interesting videos. I own two Fender Jaguars,, one of them is the American Ultra Lux, and it's a beautiful guitar, and the other one is a vintera Jaguar 60's modified HH, and it stays in tune really well. I use it most weeks, with one of my American Stratocasters. It's just a fantastic guitar. I'd like to get one one of those Epiphones that you have in the background, that white one. M
Merry Xmas to you and yours Sir...Keep Rockin the years away! P.S. your look a like comment @ the 14ish min was spot ON, hehe and I am not getting rid of my white Epiphone Les Paul it was my Xmas present to myself!!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours Colin. My very guitar way back in '69 was a Hofner electric - don't recall the model but it was a solid body, 2 pickups, even had a kill switch lever and trem. Great guitar. Would like to get hold of a Verythin like the one you have, but can't find one like it in Canada. That's a shame.
Merry Christmas Colin. Thank you for your very informative and idiosyncratic take on all things guitar. Bless you and yours, and a very happy and prosperous new year! Tim from Oz.
The LAST thing I'd want to change on a CV is the pups. Thanks for all the great reviews & playing in 2022, Col. The Epi Crestwood was my favourite of this year's crop. Merry Christmas, mate!
Hi Colin! I've enjoyed every one of your videos this year and I can't wait to see what you have for the next year. I know it's not always easy to come up with interesting content. Some guitars are more interesting than others, but you manage to make it all worth the watch. I hope you have a very Happy Christmas. Cheers man!
I wish to thank you for all the interesting and reviews and personal helpfull replies you gave this year. A Merry Christmas and a super fine 2023 to you Collin. 🌲
Great this recap. Love the epi trio and the firebird. Those are my newyear aims :D. You got me into buying guitars again and i thank you for that. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Happy New Year - As a Colin and all the Guitaristas viewer I'm so happy to have found your channel, watching you is a class in guitar covering all angles of the mighty axe.🪓🎄 Bless you - Jim, Arkansas USA
Merry Christmas to you and yours Colin. For a hairy old grizzled geezer, your channel is a fresh breath of life in a crazy mixed up world. So glad to see it going from strength to strength. Best of luck for the new year. I'll be tuning in, especially for the un-boxings! We are all on the same page here buddy, and in great company! I couldn't agree more with your selection of affordable guitars, and why. It's where scary-expensive guitars go from being revered icons left in their cases unplayed, to cheaper, workman-like instruments to have tons of fun with and, with a few tweaks, produce an amazing sound and playing experience. Sometimes, with just new strings! So suddenly a guitar becomes FUN 😊again, just like it did when we first started playing chords on 6 strings! Perhaps no better example than your Epi Custom, which sounds absolutely awesome mate. Yes, I have one too in S/B! All this happened to me with electrics AND acoustics. There's no looking back, the only problem finding space and trying to keep the missus happy cos she fucking hates em! 🤪
Colin, I have really enjoyed your channel over the past year. Fortunately and unfortunately, this year I have become addicted to buying instruments! A big plus is it seems to be an age where you don’t have to save up for a Fender or a Gibson anymore. When my mom passed away a decade ago, I got myself a cheaper import Gibson 60s Tribute SG as a gift to myself, my first quality electric guitar at age 45, which I still have and love, great humbuckers. But I gotta say, getting an Epiphone Cornet this year, I’d never heard of those original Epi’s before and I just love that adorable P90 guitar. So tempting to get the other two, but instead I’ll wind up getting an Epi Embassy bass next year to match it. I still haven’t seen one in person, but if it’s similar to this Coronet but has Thunderbird pickups, no brainer for me. Hoping in the new year to see more Guilds on your channel, loved your Jetstar review, but my next guitar will probably be an orange Surfliner…I got a Guild TBird reissue this year too. Guilds are very intriguing to me, another on my list is the Newark Street hollowbody Aristocrat…but even some of the Korean Dearmonds from 20 years ago are tempting. Love that Hofner Verythin and the Classic Vibe Starcaster. Thanks for all the Clash and Sex Pistols in your reviews, so nice to get a punk fan doing great reviews. Have a great year.
And would love to see some Danelectro reviews. I like those ‘57s, especially the Jade…but I think I just like green. Also…G&L tribute Fallout? Love my G&L tribute bass, thinking about that guitar.
Colin, for the new year you have to try the Sire L7V, it’s the P90 loaded version of their Les is more Paul. I have one about to be delivered from France that I got off of Reverb for $485 + $65 shipping in U.S. dollars and weighs 7 1/2 lbs!
What a wondrous channel this is. A real oasis in a sea of yootoob rubbish. My sincere thanks and appreciation for the quality and consistency of your content. Fingers crossed we get a 2022 Wall of Cool! Happy holidays and some luck for the new year.
Just found your channel this year and I’ve been impressed, not only with your playing (excellent by the way) but also your thought process behind all these different guitars. Have a very Merry Christmas and a blessed new year young man. Looking forward to seeing what’s next!
Merry Christmas Colin. I can't stop wanting that Guild. It's absolutely tempting. The bikini brand piece on the Epiphone's Is on my 2014 Wildcat Royal. I think it was you that said it was the original Epiphone branding. ;-)
Colin , The only guitar I have out of the 12 is the fabulous Firebird which I bought earlier in the year when they were really hard to find👍Its one of my favourite guitars and hangs really comfortably on my PRS floating guitar floor stand 👍I’m still waiting for any retailers to get stock of the correct epiphone cases for it 👍
Have a good one my man and keep on rocking and the cool vids that are very handy for the likes of myself. have been looking at that squire and am very tempted and of course it’s the first thing I see here.
Love the video series, and this one in particular. The Holy Trinity of cheap guitars is perhaps my favorite. Those Epiphones are excellent guitars, thanks for letting me know about them.
Merry Christmas Colin. Great guitars for little money. I like all of them. I'm not reaaly into LP but a white Custom is so cool. To bad the white is a bit too white. Perhaps you'll find a nice pin up decal to adorn it..
Thanks Colin! great video mate really enjoyed it and your playing. Thanks to your reviews on the Epiphone LP with P90's I now own one! Just an awesome guitar for the pennies will put it up against my high end ones all day. Love the channel thanks for all the work you put in, have a great Christmas, cheers.
Another great roundup - quite taken by that Jaguar! Best Wishes from the other side of the planet for a wonderful Christmas - see you in the New Year 😀
12 years ago I had a Chinese made Tokai Firebird, I regretted selling it, it's one guitar that held tune very well, probably the best one for staying in tune
Cool demonstration of how good “affordable” guitars have become. I will say that to me SQUIRE or even EPIPHONE really don’t have any more prestige or connotation in gigging with than a Harley Benton would . In fact HB is so rare in the US so far that I don’t think anybody would even know it’s that affordable! So it may garner more curiosity than seeing someone with a SQUIRE if they sound good they sound good!
Happy new year Colin and each viewer! All the best in 2023! The Epi LP is an awesome guitar! Thanks for keeping your episodes informative and entertaining! Cheers!
I’ve truly enjoyed watching all your reviews in 2022. Looking forward to 2023! I totally agree with the quality of the Squire Classic Vibe series. I gassed out and wound up with 5 this year. Telecaster, Mustang, Jazzmaster, Jaguar, and a Starcaster. 4 Epiphone’s 60’s Les Paul standard, a 59’ LPS, Moderne, and snagged a BJA LP Jr. Honorable mentions: A LTD Viper 1000 ( killer SG design). A Danelectro 59 Baritone. Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
Colin, my brother, I wish I could be more like you. What I mean is that I wish I were able to make more rational decisions when it comes to guitar purchases. I must confess that I am an unabashed "cork sniffer" when it comes to guitars. I like nothing more than to have the name of a premium brand on the headstock. I wasn't always this way. Back 30 or 40 years ago, I was able to fully appreciate all types of instruments made by an array of different manufacturers. In fact, one of my favorite guitars of all time was a Travis Bean 2000. I loved the hell out of that guitar, and felt that none of the 12 or 13 Les Pauls that I owned at the time were on par with the Travis Bean. But, as time moved on, and I became an older man, I now look down on anything that doesn't say Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, or Rickenbacker on the headstock. The only exception to that are the two Shijie Strats that a purchased a couple of years ago. I have also considered adding an Eastman Juliet (Antique Varnish) to my arsenal. The only reason why Shijie and Eastman brands appeal to me is that I know that they are truly well-made quality instruments. Sadly however, I think the Eastman is going to have to wait a little while longer. Because I now have my sights set on getting a Gibson 1959 ES-355 Custom Shop Reissue. The funny thing is that I am really not a fan of the ES Series. It is sort of like the guy who always wants to be seen with a beautiful woman by his side. I just like holding a top-of-the-line guitar in my hands because they are a thing of beauty. I told you that I am deranged! It is, I believe, a sort of mental illness. At any rate, stay strong, brother! I, and my wife, really enjoy watching your videos.
Haha cheers mate, don't worry we all have this illness in one form or another! 😆 thanks for the kind words and support... keep watching closely something coming in a few weeks that may be of particular interest! 😜🎸Happy Christmas to you both!
Colin, Thanks to you and reviews, I recently purchased a Super Coool Bullet Mustang. I was also able to get the Competition Edition Lake Placid Blue with Ice Blue Metallic Stripes that was available only in the UK (maybe Europe too?). I got it for a Black Friday +Cyberweek sale on top! Granted the first on had a crack from one neck horn to the next, but this replacement I just got is gorgeous! Feelin' Super Coooool now. Have a great Holiday!
I built a Coodercaster under 500. Got a cheap kit body (can get gutted used one for f all) got Mojo Steel bridge replica + harness + cheap vintage gold foil off Bay. The real thing with vintage bridge can be expensive, but with a boost pedal and a good amp you're really close. Just thought it'd be a good idea for a few episodes. Hunting for parts etc. Anyway, glad I discovered the channel, Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas, Colin! Thanks for putting out such great content. I love the Holy Trinity name that you gave the 3 Epiphones. Now you need to try what I've called the Unholy Trinity for years--the Moderne, Flying V and the Explorer. They were as welcome as Satan himself at a child's christening when they showed up in '58. I really do hope that you try the Moderne some day, but I suspect that it's not really your cup of tea. Cheers!
My favorite affordable is my Squire Affinity. It's an Indonesian "Special" with real Fender pickups (alnico Mags) I put a B-Bender on it, it's so much fun, I put a G-Bender on it too! I'm tuned to C6 and digging the country vibe. Thank you so much for your content. Every Friday I enjoy my coffee and today I have cherry pie! I want to wish you a Happy Holiday season and thank you for your feedback and guidance on this musical adventure... Keep rockin' and arse looping my friend.
The 70's CV Squier Telecaster Deluxe is probably my favorite and white does look classy. The white Epiphone Les Paul was another nice one, Merry Christmas Colin
For that neck pickup that cuts in and out on you, if it were the switch, it would be more apparent. Try a can of WD-40 fast drying contact cleaner (not the standard WD-40). Pull the pots (may as well do them all) out just clear of the body. There are usually (always?) open-air access points in the pot-bodies. Blast the crap out of them using the aerosol wand, and spin them around (push/pull, if applicable) a bunch and slip them back in. Drape a rag beforehand if dealing with nitro-type finishes, but otherwise, just give the guitar a quick wipe when finished - no harm whatsoever to functional finishes. I have metric CTS pots, which I love that had the same problem. I went nuts because I'd convinced myself it was the "phantom" switch, even though only cognitive dissonance resulted from a close examination and sporadic temporary returns of the pickup's function, which thankfully pushed me onto a thread where I learned of pot cleaning. Problem solved. Until a couple of months later, when it became apparent, I've got to clean them periodically, preemptively. It's not that big of a hassle. Moreover, cleaned pots are something we should be paying attention to, as there is a gradual, indetectable deterioration that, once ameliorated, can effectively be like having your ears cleaned, I shit you not. SE Asia is dust intensive. I'm willing to bet that the crap that got into your pots happened at the factory over here. There's an outside chance that once you clean them, you might not have to do them again in more northern climes. But I'd do them periodically anyway. The benefits of doing so outweigh the 7 minutes or so it takes to do them all. Hope this helps. Edit: I failed to mention, the problem is likely in the neck-position volume pot. But again, why not do them all?
Merry Christmas Colin. Thank you for the wonderful and inspiring content, which has been a gift to view. As a tiny present to you (and me) I've just subscribed to your TV Channel--at $4.99/month it's a fantastic deal! Cheers, Gary G.

I totally agree
All of the legends used cheap guitars to gig with in the beginning, some never stopped using them.
We always forget that the audience couldn’t give a hoot about what guitar we’re playing! 😂
Myself also, I could care less. I just need the guitar to do what it is supposed to do and I'm happy.
Merry Christmas, Colin !

Tim from Oz.
Cheers Tim, and you mate!
Looking forward to another 52 weeks of Friday night enjoyment. Thanks Colin.
The LAST thing I'd want to change on a CV is the pups.
Thanks for all the great reviews & playing in 2022, Col. The Epi Crestwood was my favourite of this year's crop.
Merry Christmas, mate!
Thanks Jeffery and you!
This is my favourite channel about guitars. I can watch a whole 40 minutes length video without a pause like nothing. Very interesting, sir.
Thanks Alex!
Always a pleasure Colin! Sweet jams, in particular with the white guitars😁🎸🤘 Have a great Christmas🥳🎸🙏🏼
Thanks man 😁👍
Hi Colin! I've enjoyed every one of your videos this year and I can't wait to see what you have for the next year. I know it's not always easy to come up with interesting content. Some guitars are more interesting than others, but you manage to make it all worth the watch.
I hope you have a very Happy Christmas. Cheers man!
That's quite a big gift table for Christmas, Colin 🙏
😆👍
Thanks Colin for a very informative and enjoyable years work hope next year is as good 👍Merry xmas and Happy New guitar year 🎸☃️🎅
Cheers Steven, same to you!
I wish to thank you for all the interesting and reviews and personal helpfull replies you gave this year. A Merry Christmas and a super fine 2023 to you Collin. 🌲
Cheers Yvan!
Great this recap. Love the epi trio and the firebird. Those are my newyear aims :D. You got me into buying guitars again and i thank you for that. Merry Christmas!
Cheer man, happy Christmas and thanks for support as always!
Nice guitars! Long life for Epis NON inspired by Gibson! 🤘🏼
Very cool format mate 👍 keep up the good work as always
You are the best and happy holidays
Thanks man!
And Burns!!!
Cheers man that’s appreciated, thanks for all the support and kind words! 😁🙏
You made some great points at the end. As always enjoyable and informative.
I think it was you that said it was the original Epiphone branding. ;-)
Merry 🎄 Christmas Colin and all the Guitaristas! Let's all hope the coming year is a really good one.🎶🎵🎶🎵
Another fantastic video! I hope you and yours have a merry Christmas and happy new year!
Colin ,
The only guitar I have out of the 12 is the fabulous Firebird which I bought earlier in the year when they were really hard to find👍Its one of my favourite guitars and hangs really comfortably on my PRS floating guitar floor stand 👍I’m still waiting for any retailers to get stock of the correct epiphone cases for it 👍
200% agree with you Colin. I don’t play my expensive guitars nearly as much as my affordable ones. Happy Holidays!!
Thanks a million, great to practice finger picking and sounds beautiful.
Have a good one my man and keep on rocking and the cool vids that are very handy for the likes of myself. have been looking at that squire and am very tempted and of course it’s the first thing I see here.
Danger! 😆👍
Excellent video! Amazing how many guitars you purchased and reviewed. Firebird is my #1.
Love the video series, and this one in particular. The Holy Trinity of cheap guitars is perhaps my favorite. Those Epiphones are excellent guitars, thanks for letting me know about them.
All the new squires the good ones rock neat designs and mixing old and new up love it
Merry Christmas Colin.
Cheers Steve!
Merry Christmas, Colin! I'm so glad to have discovered your channel. The best of luck to you in the new year!
Great philosophy Colin. All the best to you for Christmas and New Years. Wonder what Santa brings you :D
Another great roundup - quite taken by that Jaguar! Best Wishes from the other side of the planet for a wonderful Christmas - see you in the New Year 😀
I'm looking forward to more videos in the new year. Great work!
12 years ago I had a Chinese made Tokai Firebird, I regretted selling it, it's one guitar that held tune very well, probably the best one for staying in tune
the best thing for staying in tune is a product called 'nut sauce' might look expensive but worth every penny !
So it may garner more curiosity than seeing someone with a SQUIRE if they sound good they sound good!
really diggin that chill playing and editing style mate keep it up
Merry Christmas Colin!! Thank you for all you are doing!! It's absolutely great!!
Hope you have a Merry Christmas Collin.
i love affordable guitars!
Only recently come across your channel Colin. It's brilliant. Many thanks.
Thanks Brian, glad you found us mate thanks for the support! 😎👍
Happy new year Colin and each viewer! All the best in 2023! The Epi LP is an awesome guitar! Thanks for keeping your episodes informative and entertaining! Cheers!
Cheers Dragan! 😁👍
Have a very merry X- Mas, and the best for you in the new year.
Nice one!… you got it and man good work! 🤣👍👍 thanks for supporting 🙏
Best Guitar channel of 2022 for me. Looking forward to what you might bring in 2023. Merry Christmas Colin and the Guitaristas!
Good Christmas to you, Colin. Thanks for a year of enjoyable videos.
Best to you in the new year Colin. I really enjoyed your Sire T7 review. So much so that I got one. Enjoy all your videos, please keep them coming. :)
Good to see you put the wilshire so high up on the list. I just ordered myself one before i watched this.
Brilliant! What a fine addition to fan the flames of the mania of guitar addiction your channel has been! Thank you and Happy Christmas brother!
Cheers!
Explorer next I think Allen!... Happy Christmas mate.
Great video, really enjoy your work. Happy Christmas Colin!
Thanks, you too!
Cheers Bob, thanks for sticking with us on this journey 😁🙏🎸 Have a great holiday man!
@@theguitaristas Cheer to you and great love and respect! Posting some unexpected C6 music on my channel for the holidays
Merry Christmas Colin keep up the good work!!!!!!
Cheers Paul!
Oh yeah merry Christmas and all the best to you and your family
Cheers David and you mate!
