All of them turned out to be forty seven, from several different states, and all validly issued. Needless to say, this was back in the early sixties before the advent of computerized policing. It's possible to do it today, but much more difficult and time consuming.😉
I dated a man recently who claimed to be retiring from the Navy and former Navy Seals along with being a demolition engineer, pilot, ship captain, a master of Jiu-Jitsu, and pool hustler who won cash prizes in tournaments regularly. He claimed to be placing a bid on a 3/4 of $1 million property and already owned 2 properties outside the state. He insisted on having a crew cut and wearing a hat that said NAVY on it whenever we went on dates. He claimed to be living in Army barracks until his property purchase was complete even though he was retiring from the Navy. I did confirm the Army base he claimed. He constantly talked when we were on dates and repeated exactly the same stories of his time in the Navy, Iraq, and Afghanistan along with specific stories of his encounters with significant people. He never let me talk during our dates which I always hated about older men. Well, he didn't realize I'm very experienced in dating successful men and "successful" men. So I started hinting I had something burdensome to share during our texting and that it would only be courteous to allow me to talk about it. Finally, during a lunch date I told him although I have been financially successful for about a decade, the pandemic has devastated my reserves and I have come into financial distress. I started crying when he drove me home. He hugged, kissed, and promised me to help me and my child because he adored me very much and wanted to make a life together. Upon dropping me off he asked me what I needed, I said $500 would help out greatly to get us by until the coming month when other funds would be available. He said he was going to run to the bank and immediately return to hand me the $500. He never returned. We had a brief text exchange the following day but I never heard from him again. He knew his cover was blown and his black ops was compromised the second I revealed I had no money for him to commandeer. Navy Seals my ass!

There is no way he was a Navy Seal. Apparently, it's far more common than we could ever imagine that men are posing as ex-military and specifically Navy Seals. I have dated a number of military men and one thing they all had in common was that they didn't like talking about their service but this guy never shut up about the same stories. He kept emphasizing how much of a Lieutenant Commander and Navy Seal he was in the Navy. I just realized that I can send his photo and info to an investigator who tracks all the con artists pretending to be ex Navy Seals. He will confirm for certain if he is lying. I felt perhaps I was fortunate to have dodged a bullet and just leave it alone yet perhaps I should because he may be in violation of the Stolen Valor Act. I hope I'm wrong about him but I'm certain I'm not.

@Jen Agrippa - I'm not sure that character is 100% nature. I'm pretty sure that our experiences in our formative years and the general environment we live in and experience have a huge impact. And while narcissism and other negative personality traits exist everywhere I wouldn't be surprised if they are more prevalent, or at least given more leeway to "flourish", in some societies relative to others. I wonder if, for example, societies where "selling yourself" and notions of meritocracy are normalised don't provide a more congenial environment for narcissists or perhaps even enable those with narcissistic tendencies that in other contexts would have less opportunity to express themselves and would be actively stigmatised in the general culture, to flourish.

This guy enrolled in my high school my junior year. His name then was Jeremy Clarke Erskine. He claimed to have transferred from Culver, a military academy, in Indianapolis. He was a loner and tried to join my circle of friends. We were all skaters and punk rockers and weren’t looking to hang out with a military enthusiast. I remember he wanted to go see a concert with us, we blew him off, and then saw him at the punk concert in a leather jacket and shaved head. We thought he was totally weird at the point. But it seems to me like an early instance of being a chameleon

I worked in a jail in New York. I encountered Jeremy Wilson, I would agree that he was very disarming. The more I've learned about him, the more interesting I find the whole situation. During his stay in my facility for example, he claimed to be partially def, though it was clear he could hear just fine. I'll honestly admit to having had a few conversations with him regarding history for example that he was very knowledgeable on. Overall, a very interesting individual and experience. Dr G, and anyone else for that matter, I could give you guys a more in-depth breakdown of my interactions with him. They were relatively often for a brief period of time due to my assignment.

Very interesting analysis. Jeremy was intelligent but not quite intelligent enough to pull off his scams to avoid jail. It seems people were willing to fill in the holes in his stories for a while and wanted to believe him. His mind must always be busy thinking of new ways to trick people!

That last point about similarity not equating to trust really resonated with me. I made that mistake in recent years with a guy I met after a long term relationship ended and that guy went on to hack and stalk me. He and I had a mutual friend as well, which only made me trust him more, but she went on to be a flying monkey for him. I had known her for two decades, so it truly can be hazardous to trust people, even ones you think you know.

One even held down quite a humdrum job, driving about in a shabby car (although he always managed to avoid meetings with his bosses when they became curious), whilst simultaneously masquerading as a landed gent.

Not only would I be suspicious of those wanting to sleep on someone's couch, I'd be suspicious of anyone offering their couch to sleep on. It used to be that we were warned about contacting people from the internet, now people essentially facilitate every interaction via the internet.
Some people need to be in prison for the rest of their life, based on the fact that they cannot be in society without committing crimes, even if they are non-violent. This is for the good of society and in this case, Jeremy cannot live without manipulation and the con.

I had an ex who was a very convincing liar. Messed my head up good and for a good while I had serious trust issues with people. She would lie about important things but also things that did not matter at all. If you have not been thoroughly manipulated by someone like this it's hard to understand how convincing they can be, even on an emotional level.

He wasn't willing to follow the Golden Rule, do unto others as you'd have done unto you; karma; or you reap what yo sow, they all mean the same. Personal data stolen, accounts hacked, he basically claims to be 'me' professionally, and I guess I am not the only person being copied by him. Alot less time in prison, if he'd murdered any of his scam victims he'd be locked up for life not for the next 20 years or so. I think that's probably what stops alot of people like this, they're smart enough to not take it to a level where there's going to be a life sentence, but not smart enough to not just commit crimes and use their intelligence for something good

I worked in a jail in New York. I encountered Jeremy Wilson, I would agree that he was very disarming. The more I've learned about him, the more interesting I find the whole situation. During his stay in my facility for example, he claimed to be partially def, though it was clear he could hear just fine. I'll honestly admit to having had a few conversations with him regarding history for example that he was very knowledgeable on. Overall, a very interesting individual and experience.
Dr G, and anyone else for that matter, I could give you guys a more in-depth breakdown of my interactions with him. They were relatively often for a brief period of time due to my assignment.

Very interesting analysis. Jeremy was intelligent but not quite intelligent enough to pull off his scams to avoid jail. It seems people were willing to fill in the holes in his stories for a while and wanted to believe him. His mind must always be busy thinking of new ways to trick people!

Yes!! He seems energetic, highly motivated, driven, adaptable and quite ingenious. I can only imagine all of the great things he may have accomplished if he taken the “right” (or a more legitimate) path! I’m still fuzzy on what drives this guy…maybe risk taking, adrenaline and/or novelty seeking, high pressure circumstances, constant high action…what a wasted talent/gift!! It’s amazing how individual differences among people can vary so greatly!

That last point about similarity not equating to trust really resonated with me. I made that mistake in recent years with a guy I met after a long term relationship ended and that guy went on to hack and stalk me. He and I had a mutual friend as well, which only made me trust him more, but she went on to be a flying monkey for him. I had known her for two decades, so it truly can be hazardous to trust people, even ones you think you know.

Great vid. This is so interesting. Here in the UK we have had a few people pretending to be aristocrats from old British families. One even held down quite a humdrum job, driving about in a shabby car (although he always managed to avoid meetings with his bosses when they became curious), whilst simultaneously masquerading as a landed gent.

It used to be that we were warned about contacting people from the internet, now people essentially facilitate every interaction via the internet.
Some people need to be in prison for the rest of their life, based on the fact that they cannot be in society without committing crimes, even if they are non-violent. This is for the good of society and in this case, Jeremy cannot live without manipulation and the con.
"Pour Soi and En Soi": "Jeremy Wilson" is an excellent example of what the French thinker Jean-Paul Sartre calls the "pour soi." Sartre was one of the most famous public intellectuals of the mid-twentieth century. He was often referred to as the philosopher of freedom because he claimed "we are condemned to be free." This is an interesting insight about human beings. According to this account, there are two types of things in the world: the pour soi-the for-itself and the en-soi, the in-itself. The in-itself is like a coffee mug, a car, or a rock. There is no consciousness and no responsibility in that mode of existence. Humans, on the other hand, are for-itself, or perhaps, for-themselves. They are conscious beings without any core or identity. Sartre claims that we are condemned to make something of ourselves, but often fail in those projects. You can see in this account that "Jeremy Wilson" displays all the features of the for-itself. There is literally nothing there, only random actions of a certain type. Sartre tried to make the case that we have to make major decisions in life, such as choices and commitments that last. In that case we are acting authentically. Otherwise we act in bad faith, falsely believing that there is some justification for the choices beyond ourselves. Most people with "real" names believe they have some purpose in life so they don't go around changing their names all the time and lying to others. They have what might be considered a core. But even so, the core is a choice and there is always the temptation to believe we are something when in fact we aren't really anything at all, only a vanity attempting to be something. Jeremy should write a book that features one episode for each of his characters. Maybe even a screenplay.
I had an ex who was a very convincing liar. Messed my head up good and for a good while I had serious trust issues with people. She would lie about important things but also things that did not matter at all. If you have not been thoroughly manipulated by someone like this it's hard to understand how convincing they can be, even on an emotional level.

He wasn't willing to follow the Golden Rule, do unto others as you'd have done unto you; karma; or you reap what yo sow, they all mean the same. So many people gave him the benefit of the doubt and they will reap it back in other ways as will he his evil ways I'd like to think.

This analysis gives me the chills since I've been dealing with a similar subject, though in Italy. Personal data stolen, accounts hacked, he basically claims to be 'me' professionally, and I guess I am not the only person being copied by him. Almost all 'features' this Jeremy Wilson owns do apply to the character on the other side of the pond. So much intelligence in one person, but totally wasted... It's a shame.

Do you think Wilson would have escalated to murder? The presence of antisocial traits seems apparent. Do you think some antisocial individuals choose financial or white collar crimes over murder and robbery for a reason? Maybe it's just convenience or what they gain confidence in first.
Alot less time in prison, if he'd murdered any of his scam victims he'd be locked up for life not for the next 20 years or so. I think that's probably what stops alot of people like this, they're smart enough to not take it to a level where there's going to be a life sentence, but not smart enough to not just commit crimes and use their intelligence for something good
