Thanks guys! That company has been so impressive every time a UA-camr goes with them. Love listening to Cody's takes on them too. They've really got a good thing going. I gotta say, my favorite part is the dogs though...lol Thanks again!
We had Flex Armor installed in Pasco WA. It is quieter inside, we noticed the furness and AC runs less. Because it stays cooler or stays warmer. The maintenance is easy, just wash once in a while. We feel the resale value will be in our advantage.
I took issue with the dealership about my roof as well, the roof on my 2022 Cougar fifth wheel seemed loose to me , Keystone contacted me after the dealership sent them a report of findings and said the roof skin was within tolerances and that if there ever is an issue within 12 years that it would be warrantied with no issues.🤷🏽 it’s awesome that you are getting ahead of any potential issues. I’m very impressed with the new roof, and it looks great.
That makes sense and great what you got a little bit of reassurances on your roof. I always worried that the wrinkles would catch and hold water. Thanks for watching!
We got ours done back in November. I have heard about them, and saw them at Hershey. The Hershey show display installer actually was the location we had ours done at. They have two shops, one in PA and the other in DE, we went to DE. We had a tear in the radius of our old roof, so Insurance did cover ours! Very happy with it. I was going to spray over the skylight as well... Like Cody, I had someone else who wanted her light 😄 We went with the same solution you did, and actually glad we did. One other upgrade we did was to have the black trim paint put on. Our Momentum has a lot of black at the roof, and it blends very nicely.
Enjoy the videos. Like the amor flex roof enhancement y'all did. May consider before we begin to travel. We have the same model GD. Live in it FT while my wife continues to work until she retires. I've done some minor 'upgrades'. I control many of the lights via relay control/Alexa, under sink cabinet lighting with door switches, Govee TV back rope lights that I've mounted above the Overhead cabinets and above the sink pendant light fixture. All not visibly seen. Only the lighting effects. I'm a big fan of Govee, too. Installed many leak detectors. However, I found that I need to determine any slight differences in the levelness of the RV/sensor placement, so when water does drip, the detector will be in the path of the water. Found this out the hard way behind the Nautilus panel. I also use thermometers with displays for the two fridges and freezer, sensors to measure room temps, and outdoor temp. All I'm able to read when we go visit our sticks/bricks home, so I can adjust the Micro Air thermostat if needed. I've also upgraded my Power Watchdog to the new Wifi version. Love it! Due to power issues at the park we stay at, I ended up purchasing the Hughes Autoformer. There is such a power drain on one of the phases that our power would be disconnected constantly during the day. I'm just glad the Power Watchdog disconnected the power as several RV owners had to purchase new AC units during these low voltage periods. I attribute one phase being so low due to the 30A trailers on same circuit. I did buy some time by swapping my phases and just running one AC. Determined via Watchdog values. Owners aware of the power issue and Electric provider notified, but no correction made. Since we are in South TX, the tankless water heater would produce extremely hot water. Works great in cool weather, but not during hot summers. After descaling the unit, and going thru a checklist of pressures, voltage, amperage, temperature measurements Furrion asked for, they said it was due to a low water flow/pressure issue which I had already determined and told them. They had no fix for it even though I believe its a safety issue. I bought a water pump with adjustable discharge pressure and installed in the wet bay. This solved the issue and only use the pump during hot months. I asked my wife if she liked the additional pressure while showering and she said it was like being in a car wash....LOL I did find an issue with the rear gray tank vent pipe. We were smelling an awful odor in the trailer especially when the AC was on. It would be strong in one location which was near the vent. I removed the cap on the roof and shined a flashlight down the vent. I found the vent pipe was almost completely sawn thru. This was between the ceiling and the roof. The gap was big enough that the smell would leak into the AC vent. Since we are living FT in the trailer, I had to repair myself. I was able to snap of the vent pipe below the roof (~7"), and glue on a piece of pipe on the inside as there was not enough pipe above the ceiling to glue an outer fitting on. Problem solved. So much for GD craftsmanship. Hope to run into y'all on the road in another year. Keep up the good videos. Thanks, Ron
Hey that’s looks great and I’m looking to get it done on our fifth wheel. I noticed they said they have shop in Tennessee looking for it. Thanks for the video and seeing the pups tell Aris to leave Charlie alone. They are so cute together y’all stay safe and happy travels.
The little cottage was just adorable and the view was spectacular! Your snacks looks so good! Sorry you had to go through all that with your roof but at least you can feel confident it was fixed properly. We are very fortunate we've never had any roof issues. Chris always goes up and check/cleans the roof before we leave every location. Always nice getting back to your home. Safe travels guys!
That’s a great looking upgrade. I don’t know how many roofs I’ve seen that have the big bubbles from where they are coming apart going down the highway. I definitely like the warranty for life.
Thanks! We are pretty stoked. We see the bubbles a lot too. Ours happened pretty early on and we had JUST checked it before hitting the road. It just always makes me nervous!
What a game changer! I am surprised manufacturers don’t do this. Our Brinkleys roof has a 20 year warranty which is nice, but what peace of mind we would have with that roof. We only had ours since August and we are looking at upgrading the suspension already which is around $7500.00. So the roof may have to wait a while. Of course we could always trade up since the suspension has been added on the 2025’s. I mean it’s only money!😂 Good thing my wife keeps a tight rein on me😂 Safe travels.
Great video, I’m planning on doing this also! I’m waiting for warmer weather but it’s getting done, seems like for the price of these rigs the manufacturer would put this on! I would definitely delete the skylight no need for the water intrusion point! I was quoted for 41’ was 8400.00.
That price sounds about right. The roof from the factory would be nice. I guess it’s the time. This being a 2.5 day process, would slow down production.
Looks like a beautiful job was done on that roof. 👍 I envy that scaffolding set-up they had. The older I get the less I like ladders, but I could prance around on that scaffolding all day! 🤣 Keep us updated on how the roof holds up, please. Be interesting to see it in a year or so.
Ooh, I would have asked if I could wax the front cap before they moved the scaffold. When I wax our RV, I use a friend's rolling scaffold. It makes the job go so much faster. Happy Birthday, Cody!
Flex armor is the absolute best from what I hear. Great move brother. I’ll be getting that once I get our RV. Honestly this is something that should be on ALL RVs Great to see you guys ❤
@@RVUntethered love watching yawls adventures together. Y’all have such a great time. And one day soon it will be my wife and I joined you guys on the road. Adventure awaits.
I really like that Airbnb, it looks really homely. Lol just got through watching a video of Cody going in circles with his RV and busting out his truck window. Now that was funny probably not at the time but it sure is now 😂. and I’m really tickled that y’all finally did the RVarmor. I’ve been telling Josh in just about every video that this needs to be standard across the board on all RVs. You would think that that would be something that they would consider being that it will end up costing them less in repairs. And I guarantee that’s the first thing we’re gonna do when we get us an RV whether it’s new or used! I’ll take care and I’ll talk to y’all soon.😊
Right?! I have to assume that it’s the timing that stops them from doing it from the factory. This was a 2.5 day process and they are pushing so many rigs out in one day. That’s my opinion of course! But I agree 100%! It would be a really nice option. I suspect that people would pay for the additional cost, to have it standard.
Yay for you guys!! Great decision on your roof. We had a Flex armor roof put on our 5th wheel last September at Lifetime Rv Roof in Bates City, Mo. I know you're going to love it. 😊 Happy Birthday Cody🎂
Great walk around and information on roofing. Many out there may be looking into upgrading or repalcing and you provided a grerat amount of details. Great video! Keep them coming!
Hey y'all, we had FlexArmor put on too with them. Oh my goodness, you'll love it and peace of mind is worth a million.🤗. I got SOOOO tickled because hubby wanted to have the skylight covered too! 😲. Oh NO,No.... that ain't happening! 🤭. Us girls have to have our natural light! 😁😂. Safe travels! I know y'all are mostly on the West side of Florida but if you get up near Sebastian/Palm Bay/Vero Beach and need anything holler at us.... we'll come help! 🥰
Awesome! We were fretting over the skylight. When we first walked in to talk to them, they mentioned this new option of the removable top portion and said…”Done!” When we priced our crappy old skylight, it was only about $80 less. We already have a Florida come-back list going. Haha! Thanks for the suggestions!
I would love to put a flex armor roof on our Fuzion. But we have a frame issue we have to fix first. And Happy Birthday Cody. Nicole wants to stay at that Air BnB with the free wine. Those skylights are really nice.
@ Yeah hoping and Praying for the best with the frame and glad I found it before any cracks on the exterior. And dump with free wine is still free wine 🤣
Great video guys!! Thank you for sharing! Would love to have that done on my 2022 Reflection, nice to know that progressive may help me with a new roof... Maybe LoL
We LOVE our FlexArmor roof- the best investment! I agree the skylight must stay, they did not have that cool box option that you got when we did our roof 2 years ago, I like it! Safe travels!!
Awesome! We really sweated the skylight question and last minute, they showed us this option and we didn’t even ask the price! Ha! Do it! It actually wasn’t much more than a replacement for the crappy skylight. I’d like to say maybe $80 more for this style? And we don’t have to worry about them needing to cut it out if it gets busted.
We've had some roof problems, I cut out a decent section of the decking and replaced it, attempted to reuse the TPO, don't recommend it 😂 Definitely interested in something like that. Is the pricing per linear foot? 36ft x $200 for instance. PS: it was great to meet y'all with Joseph and Kailyn!
I don’t think so for 2025. We will probably be in the upper Northeast area during that time. ☹️ We are working on some other meetup options through the year though. This week at Tampa set us back but we’ll get on setting some up. If you aren’t signed up for our “newsletter” we’ll announce it on there. Howdy@rv-untethered.com
I've heard a lot about that roofing system....looks pretty good. Question, when Cody FINALLY gets his train horn on the truck maybe they can spray the horn to keep it from cracking. If they are really good they might could actually tune the horn. (I'm trying hard for ya Cody 🤣)
Great informative video 🎉. Once again, Cody Happy Birthday as I've said most all my favorite people have January birthdays and your part of the club. Flex Armour seems great. When it's time for me to reseal my roof on my motorcoach(just redid it this year) I'm going to try to go with Flex Armour and be good for a lifetime. MartyMalone from Malvern Ar. Yall have safe and fun travels.
We discuss it briefly around the 13:50 min mark. They advised that not all of their locations charged the same, so we hated to give an exact price, but they did provide us a range and right now it would run you approximately $175-240 a linear foot. Our rig is 36’ ft long. From what we priced on a replacement roof, you may find that to be comparable or cheaper than what came on ours originally.
Per Flex Armour, it’s approximately 1/2pb per square foot. It will vary per rig of course! We weighed ours from our last gross weight and it was showing about 280lbs…BUT we don’t think all of that was roof because we had a slight difference in water levels, so we know that carries a lot. But that would get you close.
2 things. 1, Norma is a chocohaulic and wants to know if you will share the chocolate hush puppy recipe? Please 2, what was the purpose of the wire being pulled out of the roof parimeter. New roof looks great !!!
They were cake balls! It’s just cake, rolled up and dipped. 🙂 You can get really creative with different flavors and things inside..etc. easy peasy! The wire was what they put along the side to trim it cleanly. The stuff dries so fast and so hard, that they have to have something like that to cut through it. Our roof along the front is SO perfect!
Thanks for sharing your experience of the roof Armour. You pointed out in the video that the screws in the rail holding original roof edges were rusty or not the right hardware. How was this area finished???
It’s a great question! We didn’t get a chance to weigh it but we will. It may not be perfect, but I think weight is enough of a concern for most people, that we need to get close. I’m sure it does!
@RVUntethered 20 years in the residential and commercial roofing industry. I've seen alot of issues with under ventilated roofs. A 100 percent sealed roof (ventilation) is a bad roof.
If an attic vent was needed for anything then you'd expect it to be in all RVs with attic space. They are only on a few brands of fifth wheels. What we do see is sealed up holes that aren't doing anything with a four inch opening to the roof, that is why we remove them
@jenniferadair7598 I don't expect the rv industry to know anything which is why they aren't covered by any sort of building code. So you are saying that there are a couple of rv manufacturers arbitrarily cutting a hole in the roof and installing a vent for the hell of it? Yeah that makes sense. A completely sealed attic space on a house or an rv that doesnt vent moisture will eventually promote mold and mildew. Especially for an rv that is lived in full time. You have your opinion and I have mine.
@ToddF100 if you go on fifth wheel roofs, you only see it on a few brands. And you don't see them on any RV older than 10 years. You never see them on Class As or TT with attic space so yes, I do think it is odd and hard to see what the function could be.
Yes, you would want to make as many of those decisions beforehand! Any vents, skylights and Solar! We decided to not add onto the solar, but the skylight made us feel better (especially their style) and we thought about upgrading one of our vents to a Max air.
What is the trick to removing eternal bond? I use a multi-tool with a flat scraper blade and that works pretty well. Also used it to remove old sealant. I have a fiberglass roof so probably not as dangerous as a rubber roof.
Great video! No idea this company existed and I am going to research cost for our Reflection! Any idea how much weight it added to rig or is it negligible? If there was OSB damage assuming they have capability to repair? thanks for sharing and safe travels!
I suspect there is going to be a weight difference for sure! We haven’t had a chance to weigh it, but it is something we are discussing. It didn’t matter for us, but I know weight IS an issue for a lot of people. It would be interesting to know! If they have to repair it, my understanding is that they actually have to cut the area out and re-spray it. That’s why we wanted to make the decisions on the skylight and vents on the front end. 😊
Their process is to leave as much good roofing material as possible, and remove anything that is damaged or cracked or loose. They guaranteed the roof for sound good life and that’s good enough for me.
There are a few reasons. One, when the glue is working it works well and you can damage the roof structurally if it is a vacuum bonded roof with luan. 2. It provides a smoother finish which most customers prefer. Since we are blocking the UV, which is what causes the damage that makes it release, we haven't seen that be an issue all the years we have been applying Flexarmor.
Flex Armor states that it adds about .5 lb per square foot of weight. It will vary per application, but we weigh ours in an upcoming video as well. We had a few other factors, but I think that formula is pretty close!
You have lots of room for solar now so when you finally do make it out west where there’s free camping in Forest and BLM lands you can enjoy it without running a generator

@ agreed!! They should look into a partnership. I would definitely pay extra for the peace of mind. 👍
Happy birthday Cody great show safe travels
Thanks so much!
Thank you. ❤ ur work and ur awesome way of life.
That’s so nice, thank you! I’m glad that you enjoyed it! 🙂
Happy Birthday Cody!🎉🎂🎁
Thank you! 🙃
Yay for you guys!! Great decision on your roof. We had a Flex armor roof put on our 5th wheel last September at Lifetime Rv Roof in Bates City, Mo. I know you're going to love it. 😊 Happy Birthday Cody🎂
Awesome! Thanks!
Great video. Thanks for all the info about the process. The roof looks wonderful.
Thanks!! It looks so sharp now!
Great video and I really like the way they cover the insert molding along the roof. It looks great and you asked very good questions.
Right?! We had made ours look so junky with sealant and it’s so nice and clean looking now!
Wow, that’s a nice looking roof !
Isn’t it sharp?! Thanks for watching!
Great walk around and information on roofing. Many out there may be looking into upgrading or repalcing and you provided a grerat amount of details. Great video! Keep them coming!
I’m glad you liked it! That means a lot! 🙂
Oh man, that stinks! I hate for anyone to go through that.
😆😆The place could’ve been a dump and give us wine and snacks..right??!!
@ Yeah hoping and Praying for the best with the frame and glad I found it before any cracks on the exterior. And dump with free wine is still free wine 🤣
Yes I hope it gets resolved quickly for you.
Great video guys!! Thank you for sharing! Would love to have that done on my 2022 Reflection, nice to know that progressive may help me with a new roof... Maybe LoL
Right?! We didn’t think it was an option either. Definitely worth asking.
For us, the $170 per foot, the cost for my 37 ft. GD Imagine would be a minimum of $6,290 plus taxes and any other fees. That's at the bare minimum.
Yes, that’s about right!
So much great information, thanks
I’m glad that you enjoyed it!
We've had some roof problems, I cut out a decent section of the decking and replaced it, attempted to reuse the TPO, don't recommend it 😂
Definitely interested in something like that. Is the pricing per linear foot? 36ft x $200 for instance.
PS: it was great to meet y'all with Joseph and Kailyn!
Oh no! I guess I’m not surprised. That TPO is SO thin!
Yes, linear foot! We feel SO much better about it.
Will yall be a the Hershey show this year? If so we'd like to meet yall.
I don’t think so for 2025. We will probably be in the upper Northeast area during that time. ☹️
We are working on some other meetup options through the year though. This week at Tampa set us back but we’ll get on setting some up. If you aren’t signed up for our “newsletter” we’ll announce it on there.
Howdy@rv-untethered.com
@RVUntethered ok , we'll keep watching yalls youtube videos and watch for the newletter update on meetups.
I've heard a lot about that roofing system....looks pretty good. Question, when Cody FINALLY gets his train horn on the truck maybe they can spray the horn to keep it from cracking. If they are really good they might could actually tune the horn. (I'm trying hard for ya Cody 🤣)
Hahahahaha 😆
It would give it a deeper sound, maybe!
Ha thanks!! We are excited about it!
Aren't you looking to replace the camper?
Considering!
Great video. Quick question. My son has the same rig. How much to have it done. Thank you. Phil from Detroit
Happy Birthday Cody! How much extra weight does it add? Safe travels!
Thank you! I’m not sure on the weight yet. We haven’t had a chance to weigh it but we should soon!
Please
2, what was the purpose of the wire being pulled out of the roof parimeter.
Looks like a great solution.
Was just wondering, how many LBS did the new armor added to the rv ?.
It’s a great question! We didn’t get a chance to weigh it, but we’re hoping to catch a scale soon! It would be interesting to see.
FlexArmor weighs approximately 1/2 pound per square foot. On a forty footer, usually adds around 150 pounds.
Thanks for sharing your experience of the roof Armour. You pointed out in the video that the screws in the rail holding original roof edges were rusty or not the right hardware. How was this area finished???
There were a few areas where we couldn’t watch/film, but they said that they replaced the screws and then sprayed over all of the railing area.
Happy Birthday Brother. Did the Flex Armor add a lot of weight to the trailer? Great video guys we love following you guys
It’s a great question! We didn’t get a chance to weigh it but we will. It may not be perfect, but I think weight is enough of a concern for most people, that we need to get close. I’m sure it does!
Flexarmor is about a half pound per square foot so on a fourty footer it is approximately 150 pounds.
I would think the vent cap you removed was more for venting moisture out of the attic space? Similar to the attic vent you have on a house.
Maybe?🤔
There was a slab of insulation/foam under it, so maybe just for the thin roofing part? Hmm. I’m not sure!
Wow’s that looks amazing. Did you think about putting more solar on as long as you had it done? Thanks From Wisconsin
We didn’t see much of it, but they def had some special tools they were using. We apologized for all that we had on there! 😄
Patience is the key.😊
Just a question why don't take all the original roofing material. What happen if 2-3 years from now the old material come loose?
Their process is to leave as much good roofing material as possible, and remove anything that is damaged or cracked or loose. They guaranteed the roof for sound good life and that’s good enough for me.
There are a few reasons. One, when the glue is working it works well and you can damage the roof structurally if it is a vacuum bonded roof with luan. 2. It provides a smoother finish which most customers prefer. Since we are blocking the UV, which is what causes the damage that makes it release, we haven't seen that be an issue all the years we have been applying Flexarmor.
Does it add any more weight to the RV?
Flex Armor states that it adds about .5 lb per square foot of weight. It will vary per application, but we weigh ours in an upcoming video as well. We had a few other factors, but I think that formula is pretty close!
You have lots of room for solar now so when you finally do make it out west where there’s free camping in Forest and BLM lands you can enjoy it without running a generator
We can’t wait to go out West! We’re going to try it with what we have first, but it’ll be neat to try some public land!
Looks great! Due to its thickness, how much weight does it add to your rv?
Good question! We are discussing re-weighing but we didn’t have a chance after this trip. It would DEFINITELY add some weight!
We’re did you send a sample of your oil off to to get it checked I seen it on one of your videos but can’t seem to find it thanks!
You bet! This is the company that we used.

@@RVUntethered thank you!
Is that a square foot?
I believe square foot would make it too expensive. They do it by length.
@@RVUntethered it would definitely be expensive.
Linear ft.
Yes it’s pricey, but surprisingly comparable or cheaper than the TPO stuff that gives us heartburn! 😁
Is that price by square feet or linear ft?
Linear foot!
@@RVUntetheredthank you
How much weight does it add?
It’s a great question! We didn’t get a chance to weigh it, but we’re hoping to catch a scale soon! It would be interesting to see.
@ my technical brain is always coming up with weird stuff, I can’t help it. But it has me curious.
No it’s a question WE asked them too! Haha. We will get that done and on a video soon!
I would love to get that done to my trailer, but because of the price, I'll have to wait a little bit👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It can be a big hit for sure! I don’t think I’m going to regret it though. If nothing else, it will add to the resale.
@RVUntethered yes, bigly👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sounds like about a $6K investment.
It’s a big one!
