I am saving this video in my favorites! Thank you so much for this! As an actor I've experienced directors who did everything the opposite and have even had roles revoked from me for suggesting the very things you point out in this video. Simply asking for a table read with my acting partner and an opportunity to meet and build a relationship, and was then told my "process" didn't fit and that I had no "natural ability". Some of the directors statements you offered as examples didn't quite resonate with me, like - saying "take it up a notch" is basically the same thing as saying "more energy" - whereas what works best is speaking the actors language in the sense of actions - you hit the nail on the head when you said "think of a situation". Turn that into an actionable statement and you have the perfect adjustment. This was a fantastic video with very solid advice. Thank you!
that food looked amazing! lol, anyway this was really, really helpful! I didn't realize you should spend a lot of time discussing backstories, what happens before the film, and after it and getting on the same page but that makes so much sense :)

That’s a great tip to plan a social gathering after the table read. I’ll have to remember that. Thanks!
yeah it really helps to make shooting less like the first day of school ;)
good tips! maybe you shouldn't focus only in scifi, but in film in general because you would help a lot of people!
Thanks, Carol, I know I'm trying to figure out a way to keep my sci fi passion at the core but reach DIY content creators in general
Hey, Hot Tony! This is actually helpful, man!
Glad to hear it!
Good tips.
Thanks

Yeah, it really makes a difference. As an audience, I believe we really pick up on the depth or lack of depth in the subtext of a performance.
