Hello Deon, good to see you back, your Wheelie project looks like some excellent engineering. . I think your wire will work quite well because of the " strand winding" similar to electric wring, which of course is copper. The only place that would probably carry silver wiring would be a jewelry supply business especially for beading. . The metal from the cans looks great. I'm anxious to see the progress of the buildout Wheelie is definitely going to have some competition Up here in the Pacific Northwest I only have about a week left before I have to disassemble my model area and prepare for some end of summer guest. We rarely get visitors so that's OK, and as I clear up the area I can probably achieve more organization so getting it back together will go faster plus do an inventory . I'm studying various schemes for my Albatross and PBY, to see if I can work on both at the same time. So by middle of September I'll be back to building. . So Happy Modeling till then, I hope Chicken is well - he might enjoy driving your new Wheelie :-) Cheers Bob
At 11:00, you lost a bit of the Wheelie Yellow approach to true "Patina." Yellow approach is, " OK, it's time to apply some patina to my new van, so let's go for a drive." Cheers 🇨🇦
yes. very good to have that build video to help guide me to build mine, though with a bit of a different approach. His accent and deadpan voice are the best ever
As others have said, wheelbase is distance between axle centers , wheel track is the distance from side to side, and that’s on center as well, the outside dimension varies according to wheel width, of course.
It’s interesting Wheelie Yellow made his van white - looks like an American postal vehicle. You should do yours in kiwi colors - whatever that might mean to you! Also, do you intend to make yours with the crazy dynamics he puts in his? I think he runs on a knife’s edge and his van falls over much of the time. Very comical! Also are you sure it’s balsa in his build? I thought it might be basswood - but I know US and UK/commonwealth often have conflicting names for things.
well its not the softest of Balsa, but not quite sure if its basswood, it could be. Wish he would take part in our chat and tell us. either way, i like the dowels more.
Hello Deon, Not usually a commenter although I have enjoyed your videos for sometime. I was, however, intrigued by your comments on your mathematical studies. Purely out of curiosity are you an amateur mathemetician or a professional researcher in that particular field which I didn't quite catch? Thanks, Peter
i studied computer science and engineering, though didnt complete engineering. Im not a mathematician but i like maths where required. Im a software tester by work. I discovered the Collatz Conjecture a couple of years back and have been dabbling in it for a bit of mental exercise and because i like logic challenges. I have made interesting advances and find it fascinating
@@deonjansen Thanks for the reply Deon. I would like to find out more about what you have achieved unless you would prefer not to. Do you have a "public" email address that I could contact you on (to avoid bringing in an irrelevancy to this channel)? Cheers, Peter (from across the ditch)
Im on Facebook, and if you head to the "At The Workbench" facebook page you will easily find me, or just directly, make contact with me there, and then i will add you to the private facebook page where all my developments are recorded. Would that work for you
@@deonjansen Thanks Deon - appreciate the kind offer. However I'm not a member of Facebook and a bit reluctant to set up an account so will need to have a good think about it first (although I am still very keen to talk about your progress). Regards, Peter
@@Colin-z6s sure i understand, though can set a facebook account up very easily, and you dont need to post anything you can just use it to view and message about 3N+1. May help if you have someone to help you setup, and just getting going at first. really is the best way. Anyway - give it thought.
Excellent ideas! I can’t wait to see it finished. All the best!👍🇨🇦😁😂

Bro I Cant wait 😂
Im going thru your videos... watching all the ones about, wheelie yellow

Wheelie's last video was basically a how-to, with added lights and features. He's cool, easily the most famous sock puppet in the R/C world.

Let’s go!😂
Wheelbase is the length between the wheel centres..

do you have plans for a stopper for when the body sways it stops tipping at one point?
I think the "wheelbase" is distance from front wheels to back wheels lengthwise. Could be wrong though.
