Nathan - Up here in NY (NorthEast) we typically keep the jig 'low and slow' basically dragging or hovering right above bottom. Really interesting that you break all the laws of jig n pig fishing. Thanks!

Nathan, I used a swim jig last Summer for the first time and, it worked really well. I didn't "swim" it though. I let it sink and stroked it off the bottom and they went crazy for it! The sizes went up also. Once I located them it was my lure of choice the rest of the Summer and into Fall. I still use the technique up here in NJ in the Winter but, with a flipping jig and with less stroking and more dragging and hopping. It still works as I've caught a bunch this Winter.

So you let it hit the ground? Or just start reeling after it hits the water?

I had problems when using 30 pound braid on my baitcaster burying into itself and twisting up. Any tips on preventing that? I use 40 pound now, and don't have issues with that as much anymore.

Still working using swim jigs in the ponds here in South Florida. I have caught them on plan weighted jig heads with no skirt and a Yama craw but not yet on a skirted jig. Still trying 😉
