Instead of killing off Mako, they should've put her in the final battle and Piloted Scrapper, but what would be better is Mako joining Jake in the end to pilot Gypsy Avenger but Nooooo!!! They needed to kill off Mako for no reason!! Mako is one of the reason we watched this sequel but instead they killed her off just like that!

They kill mako for a very simple reason This movie is aimed at the Chinese market and Chinese actors appear in 2/3 of it, and the Chinese hate the Japanese. I think Chinese actors should die so the movie will be rated a bit higher
I wasn’t happy
My perfect ending for this is if Mako did the ultimate sacrifice and ejected Jake from Gypsy Avenger before hitting the Mega Kaiju at the end. It's the perfect callback to the first movie, when Raleigh ejected Mako from Gypsy Danger, while also referencing Pentecost's ultimate sacrifice.
Mako died along with the franchise..
Mako's copter should have been miles away the second the rogue Jaeger was engaged. They were just flying in circles around the fight?

It identified as an attack helicopter.
this is already a common opinion amomgst all pacific rim fans that this exact scene is the sole reason this movie flopped so hard with the people it was trying to provide and impress. Mako's death in the movie was to be expected due to it being a sequel but not at this early of a state in this film. The death was supposed to get everyone immediately crying, instead we saw Steven DeKnight kill off one of the most interesting female leads in any hollywood film and completely disregard her death just 10 minutes after it. Yeah, seriously. It had absolutely no effect on Jake whatsoever despite her being his (step)sister. But there's no point in complaining considering uprising is a fanfiction of one of Guillermo's artpieces. I'm also glad the Netflix anime spinoff recognized its flaws and applied sense of scale to the jaegers.
When the pilot has their visor down you know the helicopter isn't staying in the air very long.
But a Pro Pilot knows how to land the helicopter with minimum casualty.
If you have seen the movie "Black Hawk down" you will know what I mean
One of the few things I like from this movie, now that I'm rewatching clips of it, are shots where thr Jaegers are part of the skyline. It's just a neat way to show how huge they are. I do miss how heavy they felt. Del Toro put so much thought into the weight of the movement and the action last movie.
they have that gravity thingy, but instead of using it to save the chopper, they just used it to fling some cars.

When I saw this scene in the theaters for the first time when it came out on opening day., I was so mad that I beat the empty seat next to me with my fist 👊. I was that upset 😡. They shouldn't have killed off Mako!!

Actually if you see a bit more better you can see that there was a some distance between a helicopter and the ground so Jake could just catch them slowly instead of jumping. What if he catch them but they crash anyway in his hand while falling with him. I know that this is a emotional moment but come on every Jaeger in this movie looks like they just want to look cool, if you really want to save the city you won't throw a fucking building into monster or leave the robot , or you will never just running to monster without any seems hint to attack them and get hit without any hint to defense. All fights in this movie( exactly the final battle) looks like kids playing in the sandbox. " Hey I must kill these monsters to protect the city and civilians, but I'm want to do some cool stunt with this laser swords even if I'm don't kill him by this stunt and lost the advantage... who cares"

Yeah in the original they made it explicitly clear that minimizing casualties was a priority, with the battles starting in the ocean
Literally just a few seconds slower in terms of speed and windups and this scene wouldn't have seemed so unrealistic.
Mako probably would’ve survived if they used the plasma cannon because it’s quicker than the gravity gun

Mako also became very sick, but survived since she was ejected before GD reached the Antiverse.
In real life, believed he was going to be too big a star to give a commitment to any sequel, so they didn't offer him a role. I expect they would have gone with Boyega anyway, who was the next big thing at the time.
@@BWM135 He's not dead, the writers said they left it unaddressed & open for if the actor ever reprises his role in a third installment. That's why I don't trust novelizations or comic prologues. They're just glorified fan fiction.

Very genius, the movie was obviously aiming for that sweet sweet Chinese dic- I mean Chinese market, so of course one of the most trying-to-be-popular Chinese actress Sally Jing got a major role because she has tons of rich Chinese men trying to make her famous for years, AND they also killed off the Japanese character to further pleases the Chinese audiecnes, very clever indeed
I don't know how this scene would please the Chinese market. In fact, can critics be focused more on the story structure instead?

I've not watched the movie only small clips like this, and figured it wasn't worth watching. Sure enough, it's trash! Killing off unnecessarily, turning one of them into the villain and a few other dumb ass decisions. No wonder the movie didn't do well. What a waste!
Compared to the Pacific rim, this film is pure trash. Watching it made lose some brain cells especially this scene. They killed off one of the central characters of the 1st movie in a matter of minutes in the dumbest way possible. What a $hit show.
