Car UA-camrs don't focus enough on their own cars, IMO. I personally would love to see more NSX content. It's a 90s Japanese legend!
Some people who are always in front of a camera like to keep some of their life still just for themselves. I have respect for that.
I like the idea of weight reduction for a naturally aspirated NSX, kind of a USDM NSX-R, like the one you featured on this channel. Headers and a lightweight battery spring to mind as relatively simple bolt-in options in addition to the weight saving parts you already have.
17+ year owner of a 91 Sebring Silver @ 116K miles. I bought it with 26K miles. Minus the usual casualties (leaky electronic capacitors) and general maintenance, I have had to do nothing to it. Still has the original clutch. Fun watching you drive "my car". Keep up the great content.
You are a true car enthusiast with the purist mindset. I can't wait to see its journey.
Yes! More NSX content please. I considered selling my B7 RS4 because I only put on about 9k miles since 2019
One if my biggest regrets is not buying these when they were in the mid 20's.
Edit: good call on the jdm trans and type r fd. You can buy the fd brand new from the dealers in japan. The trans are $$$$ though
Only added 12k miles over the course of 6 years?! That's criminal! Should be at 200k by now! Would love to see future videos of mods and quality of life changes for this NSX. Bay Area resident as well! 👍
I have a 91 and I also thought the 2nd gear ratio was too tall, so I had a 6 speed installed with stock gear ratios and I retained the twin plate clutch setup by using an nsx-r input shaft. I did this about 4 yrs ago and the price was reasonable then. I also installed the slightly larger brake setup from a 97 and newer model. Factory headers from a 2002 model were ceramic coated and installed along with a Gen. 2 Comptech muffler. So far im happy with these mods.
Great to see the nsx out again! For mods, I would suggest jdm short gears... makes the na1 feel way quicker. Big Brake kit and finally... the quaife steering rack mod from nsxrackrepair. Changes the lock to lock to 2.5 from 3.5. Then just enjoy it.
Bought my 95 midnight Pearl 6 years ago with 108,000 miles, have over 141,000 now..Luckily it came with 17’’and 18’’ hre 547’s, AD08’s, Jdm short gears & rear pinion, comptech exhaust, headers and air box..I added beilsteins a mono steering wheel, black silicone coolant cover, sos front & rear sway bars, led interior and exterior lights, probably missing a few things,,,short gears a must…
Gearing would be my first mod. Stock is waaaaaay too tall.
Edit: sorry, I was part way through the video. I’m so glad you mentioned the gearing at the end.
Science of speed has the gearset and final drive in stock!
Good catch!
comptech headers was the biggest power gain I got and a bucket seat made it so much more enjoyable to drive.
Nice video. My Japan 91 in 2nd gear goes to about 120 kph and the USA is 133kph. Most popular mods here are all NA. light flywheel, LSD, 6 speed, cams, injectors, pistons for about 360hp but this will not last long so 340hp is a safe but. Biggest shop at the moment that does this work is T3. One car laps Suzuka about 8 secs faster than me 2:32 to 2:40 in a car similar to yours but with hard suspension and 17 and 18" wheels. Sound and speed is very different.
Sounds like a great mod list and goal to drive it more. This is the first time i saw you drive it on the channel 😂
Equal length headers! I got the rfy set this year and the car feels and sounds better!
Yes. If he has intake headers it would give him just a little bit more HP over stock. Enough to make a difference.
I don't know... As an S2000 owner, which is a 20-year old car now, I am seeing it (and the NSX) as a classic car that should be driven more, but not "overly"-driven or heavily modified. It's a personal view but also has to do with maintaining the car in its purest form, given that such cars will never be produced again. I would certainly love to see more NSX content, I have been following you since your early S2000 days. ☺️👌👍
But why? If you own a car like the NSX or S2000 you should track it until it dies. You don't owe the random next owner anything. You should enjoy the car to its fullest potential. The S2000 is such a joy to drive on the track, you get to experience its amazing chassis in ways people who baby them never will. Its a shame every S2000 owner doesn't track. With just a few mods like coilovers, square wheels/tires, and aero it becomes a real weapon.
As I get older I also prefer to experience my cars in their purest form. Sure they don't get around as well as many newer cars but the charm and the fun is in running these things the way they were for me. My NSX still even runs on the original 15 and 16 fat five wheels it came on.
Excited to see the future mods and progress along the way.
Having extensive seat time in pops 00 NSX back when new, I can say best mods we did?
Weight.
Reduction.
Did 200 lbs worth. OG Bronze TE’s in stock sizes 16/17. A now unobtainium ARC 9 lb Ti exhaust. Odyssey battery, seat lowering cushions and Dali racing CAI.
Woke that car the hell up!
For your NA1 3.0 I’d do the JDM gears with that ltw flywheel and some lighter wheels.
OEM or type R bushings would be transformative
Was good to see you back into this. It's like you forgot you own the most iconic Honda(ahem, Acura) ever.
Love the channel, great job 👏
Looking forward to the mods.. definitely a car worth modifying a d driving more.
Manual steering by far the best for a driver's car. If you want maximum engagement and feel, it's you don't mind cranking it in the parking lot or during autocross. Even Porsche hydraulic and electric steering doesn't even come close.
Always love the NSX content. As for some other mods, NSX-R Front upper & lower chassis brace sets & BBK?
BBK already on the list!
Suspension has been long overdue, my friend :) Would suggesrt NSX-R chassis stiffening bars and Comptech front and rear sway bars when you do the suspension upgrade. Also, a DF intake scoop if you can get hold of one. Don't ever sell this one :)
Kawaii Works Japan seat rails. You can mount the RS-G all the way down pressed against the floor. I believe they made the Taitec and other JDM sear rails. PM me if you want more info.
Curious to hear how you compare the Evora GT to the 1st gen NSX. If I want the "NSX experience," but don't want to spend $100k for a 30yr old car, is the Evora GT the next best thing, or even better?
Similar weight, size, and with the first gen base evora, similar power. I would imagine the Evora would drive like a modernized NSX.
Just a great looking car. Excited to see more videos about it! Also if you were going to spend your own money, would you buy this NSX or a 2022 Subaru BRZ? Thanks ;)
Don’t feel bad, I’ve owned my Supra for almost 8 years and I’ve only put 9,574kms on it 😅
Oil cooler for sure!
You change the timing belt yet?
Gearing and flywheel are the biggest disappointments I had with the car. If you can acquire the LSD from an NA2 that would be ideal. Even if your not tracking the corner exit is substantially improved. These mods pretty much make the car perfect mechanically.
Have you looked into upgrading the LSD?
Atr racing has the jdm nsx gearset your looking for.
Coilovers, BBK, gears+final drive… swap in a 3.2 bottom end and Haltech!
Intake, headers, ITBs 👀
I don't usually comment. But.... its about damn time lol
is there anything on the market to speed up the rack ratio? I've seen the s2000 steering rack swap but find it curious that there isn't a quicker ratio rack developed as a bolt in
Not that I've seen
There’s been chatter recently in NSX owner Facebook groups about a quicker ratio rack. I’ll share info if I can find it.
ua-cam.com/video/FHQRdgxsOuU/v-deo.html
any snap gear worry?
I forgot you own a nsx 😅
You should do headers. The NA1 exhaust manifold is a heavy p.o.s
As a fellow NSX owner in NorCal, beware of impact on smog compliance. My ‘93 with 124k miles had trouble passing smog. It’s mostly stock; 2 mods are a K&N FilterCharger kit on the intake side and a DC Sport exhaust header - both from prior owners. Can’t pinpoint exact cause of compliance challenges but other owners have opined the aftermarket header causes the exhaust gases to be cooler going into the CAT compared to OEM, and at lower temps the CAT doesn’t process the gases as well as it needs to. Getting things nice and hot helped pass smog.
@@koichihiura7617 Back when I used to work at a Porsche shop we had to get some of the older cars nice and hot before getting them smogged to pass. As the cats age they don't perform as well and need to be pretty hot to work. So we would need to tell our smog guy we were coming, drive fairly aggresively and he would pop in the sniffer right away to get them to pass.
He could also swap in the stock headers every 2 years for smog if needed or get the NA2 headers
I looked at the title and thought 2 things: 1) pretty sure he didn't drive the car 20k miles per year for 6 years, 2) he hasn't owned the car for all of its 120k miles...
I would at least do full bolt on and tune.
How much did you buy the car for 6 years ago?
A little under 45k. Thought I was overpaying at the time!
@@Zygrene is it $90k in this market ?
I saw ur channel and that you are American and I wanted to mention that we Always need to have God in our hearts, the truth in
life which is in the original ORTHODOX christianity religion only. Not the other versions the majority follows in the US, it is the
original and true form of christianity that Jesus taught us when he came to earth, and you can feel God
through the holy sacraments after baptism, repentance-confession and holy communion in the orthodox
christian church, something that completely changes your life and turns you into a happier person with
a meaningful life and also saves you by strengthening your bond with
God. I suggest you become an orthodox christian at an orthodox christian church near you, get baptised and receive the holy spirit and live a spiritual life (repentance- confession to the priest and holy communion). This is all God wants from us and through these sacraments we will be saved 💯 Spread the word and positivity
and God Bless! I Wish you all the best with the car reviews
Kicked yourself in the foot?
ha ha ha ha
Just don't put Chinese shocks on it.
For the life of me, I cannot figure out why people modify these classics not only is the resale value more than likely going to go down because nobody wants others peoples projects but that car was built a certain way, because it was built in a particular era. why mess with it do you want to go faster? Buy a newer car most are faster than this but none feel the same way. Same for s2k’s
Have you driven the NA1?
@@homesaucemagic your missing the point, you do understand they wont make these cara anymore?
I was wondering because if you had some seat time in the NA1 you might agree that this car is a few mods short of an automotive masterpiece.
@@homesaucemagic so what are mods for? To make it faster?
It’s to make the car much more enjoyable to drive for the owner.
Most people don’t care about how fast a car like this is.
Sorry your ad took too long I didn't watch your video and gave you a thumbs down
