  • This is one of my favorite dry flies for panfish (bass like it too!) either by itself or as the indicator fly on a dropper rig. Floats well and the fish seem to eat it anytime there is surface feeding activity, no matter what the hatch. In smaller sizes, it's a useful fly to have around for trout, too.
    Here's the recipe:
Hook: Standard dry fly hook sz 8-14
Thread: 140d or 6/0, color to match body and hackle
Body: Deer hair in color of choice
Hackle: Dry fly cape or saddle hackle, color to match body
As always, if you like what you see, hit the like button and subscribe so you don't miss it when this fly hits the water in future episodes.
Thanks for watching and tight lines!

Thanks Tim, great fly! I have a love/hate relationship with spinning deer hair. I love the way it fishes, hate the mess I make when tying deer hair flies.

It's not as bad as a full blown bass popper, but I won"t lie, the cleanup took longer than the tying and the filming did.
