Two weeks ago my wife of 38 years died of brain cancer. She wanted this aria to be played at her death. As she was being led out of the hospice the care givers all stood in the hall and bowed their heads as this was played. The recording ended as we were leaving. It ends with an ovation for Bocelli. My daughter commented that the ovation could have been for my dear wife, Tricia, for a life well lived.

Corelli, Del Mónaco and Pav leads this aria so far. Listen Nessun dorma in Yes Giorgio's movie and youll see the diference. Although are different sort of voices and techniques but Bocelli is amazing, love to have his technique, but I cant because i am not him, and he cant have my voice because he is not me, voices are like DNA, everyone have our own, no replic exist on DNA at least it be cloned , but it is illegal worlwide. I seen in many shows as AGT or BGT (britain got Talent) and also in homemade videos, plenty of videos that one can try match to a celebrity or sport player but thats impossible because for the same reason that It cant be. I am me and you are you.
Bocelli is Bocelli and Caruso was Caruso. Ferder is Federer and Sampras is Sampras.
Gates is Gates and Jobs is Jobs.
And its ok for someone to be inspired in someone we admire but its impossible to be it.
Like the mango wants to be a banana, and the banana wants to be a coconut, the moon wants to be the Sun and Mercury eants to be another planet, tit can not happen and be possible.
Imagine if that could be happend, the humanity and nature will be boring and with no sense at all.

    D'amore e di speranza
But my mystery is closed in me

    Il nome mio nessun saprà
No, no, I'll say it on your mouth
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò
    When the light shines
    Quando la luce splenderà
And my kiss will break the silence

    That makes you mine
    Che ti fa mia

Italian music was prevalent in the Chicago Heights area of the early 50s. Always enjoyed listening to it, but Andrea Bocelli's rendition of Nessun Dorma with this orchestra is the best I can ever remember. The strength and rich depth of his voice well matched with this orchestral arrangement is soul stirring. This very rendition of the music completes the mental picture I have of the return of Jesus Christ with His angels in power and glory.

Yeah, that describes a narcissist…..😕 the talent/ gifting is there but the “handicap” (being a narcissist) takes away from the gift. But
Bocelli can pull it off without the distraction. He is amazing!!❤️

These comments are ridiculous. The chest puffing has to do with breath control. Opera singers of the highest calibre open their lungs and use the diaphragm as much as possible. You will see this with Jussi Björling who had the finest breath control that I have witnessed. The gestures they use are their own expression of the song. This is not showing off, it is the techniques of mastery. If you knew ANYTHING about opera you would understand that there are no narcissists. These artists practice every single day to improve themselves and they are their own worst critics. Bocelli is not technically the best, there are many singers who are superior in enunciation, in power and in breath control, but his tone is gorgeous, especially in the lower register, and his singing warms the heart. He radiates goodness. I earned my Fine Arts degree with a Major in Opera at Oklahoma City University and let me assure you, those pained expressions from opera singers are the emotional interpretations of the lyrics, not pretend suffering. BTW, opera singing is INCREDIBLY difficult and physically taxing. Singers have burst blood vessels in their throats, and strained their vocal chords to the point of ruination.

    • @eileenhetherington3704
      @eileenhetherington3704 2 роки тому +7

He most certainly DOES NOT just stand there and let it "flow out"! This is years and years of training "flowing out". His chest is not as lifted (puffy)because he is not fully engaging his diaphragm, this is a technical weakness he possesses.

Regardless of the Pavarotti comparisons(keep in mind each voice is different, not better, at the top of the game), this made me tear up near the end, when the audience spontaneously applauds, with some singing still left to come. They just could not help themselves. When a man(tenor) has a voice like this, live, in a crowd, it is overwhelming and goes through your spirit and soul, as an audience member. It is a spiritual thing, literally. Lucky for these audience members. We can only gather a glimpse of this experience here, watching this in a little square on our screens here, regardless of the speakers. There is zero comparison between hearing this live and making judgements from a little youtube box remotely in space and time at that. The audience members erupting even before it was finished speaks for itself. They say it all. Nothing more needs to be said.

+scott kuzminski It's true they have different voices, but Pavarotti also clearly has better technique. But Bocelli has a very pretty, lyrical tenor voice. I think he probably has a better recording voice than Pavarotti, but he would be no match in an actual opera without a microphone. The reviews for his opera role were not entirely positive. There were critics who said that he was weak from the beginning in Turandot starting with "mio padre!"

+AstriaICOW I agree, Astrial...Bocelli has recorded some nice studio work, as well as lighter stuff like Tony Bennett's Duets, but I think Pavarotti might be the Caruso of our era, so very touch to top that. sure. But to be fair, it's hard to act when you are blind :P I actually think that Placido Domingo is the most emotional and passionate actor for an opera singer, both on stage and off stage. The fact that he's also really good looking also helps a lot :P

Patrick Carroll no. It is because his high notes are in weak mixed voice. If only you would listen closely how the transistion of that A4 and B4 went. The A4 was still in chest then he bends to a mixed B4 which weakens the tone, making the orchestra overpowered him. There's nothing wrong with the sound engineer because Bocelli can be heard loud and clear during the soft orchestral parts. This is the reason why people kept saying that Bocelli is better when amplified because his voice is weak to be considered an opera. I love him for being a classic pop singer, his voice is the best voice I've ever heard but in things like this is where his weakness shows up but as his fan, I still love him.
