The hippo at the ending is Taweret, the goddess of fertility, resurrection and rejuvenation. This is pretty much the first time she's appearing in any Marvel property (if I remember correctly, I never see her at all in the comics). Taweret, in mythology, provides life for the living while at the same time "rejuvenates" (cleanses and purifies) the dead so that they can pass on safely to the afterlife. Don't forget the panther/cat-like statue is most likely Bast at the entrance of the tomb. In Egyptian mythology, she is the goddess of protection. In Marvel properties, she is the god that Black Panther serves and also part of the Ennead. So, in a subtle way, Moon Knight is also tied to Black Panther
She appears in the comics alongside every Egyptian god but we only see her. She doesn't really play a major role in the comics like Ra, Amit etc but we do see her standing next to the other major Egyptian gods in the celestial heliopolois in the comics.

The hippo goddess Taweret is also the Egyptian goddess of protection and resurrection. She’ll get them sorted but I wonder if she’ll also first free the third alter from the banging coffin.
Legion's psych ward was a representation of how crowded his head is. In this case however, they're in the overvoid and designed as a mental institution run by Amitt.
@@danbalares4818 Well, Legion has two mental hospital bits. The first was the real thing, David was admitted to a real hospital and had no idea if he had powers or was just crazy. The second bit was a mental prison created by Farouk
The mental institution is Marc's mind, which is how and why he and Steven were able to physically interact with each other. Everything that is in the mental institution is a connection to Marc's mind and also even some elements of the things Steven thinks too.
Only through rewatching the episode via your reaction did I realize the man shouting out Bingo numbers was the Living Statue in London that Steven was talking to and the two orderlies were the two London cops that arrested him

You can also see Donna, Steven's Boss, the Golden Painted Guy who was yelling bingo numbers, and the two cops who captured Steven in Ep2 who where the 2 doctors/nurses.
The goddess at the end was Taweret, the Egyptian Goddess of fertility and childbirth. She may be Marc and Steven's ticket back to the land of the living as she has been associated with regeneration and just 'life-giving' attributes in general. Hathor, the Goddess who's an old friend of Khonshu's, is depicted as a cow...well, cow ears and horns but with the face of a human woman. Or in some cases, a full-fledged cow. It varies.
My theory is the mental hospital is actually their headspace - that some DID systems have - where the alters can manifest themselves there and interact with each other like in the outside world. And Taweret (the hippo goddess) just happens to be there because they are about to die and she's gonna make them her temporary avatar to save them?
Abe was associated with the dead being cleansed before actually going into the afterlife. It's possible this is both a projection of his mind, a trickery pulled by Ammit, and Taweret attempting to heal his soul before he goes to the Du'at. It's also plausible that she resurrects him, as that apparently was possible too, so Im guessing she might have to be convinced to do it.
nah the ending is based on moon knight lemire run where marc woke up in insane asylum and dont know whats real or not..and is moon knight and khonshu even real...he stuck in his on mind, and he went back and foward into his each of his personality life in his own mind...in order to break free from his mind he needs to accept his alter personality as part of himself..marc,steven grant, jake lockley, moon knight...and kill khonshu...but in this show i dont think they gon kill khonshu they only took some element from the lemire run comic...instead of killing khonshu hes gonna escape the hospital and then find khonshu break him free...and then become moon knight again after that and start killing arthur's men..
This episode, probably more than any other MCU streaming program to date, makes me feel like coming out of Infinity War. Ie... We have to wait a YEAR to see what happens after that big ending. Fortunately we only have to wait a WEEK in this instance.
Oh, yeah, btw. Lazarus Pools in Egypt have the weirdest side effects. The Othervoid is awesome. Also, the fact that the last scene was in the headspace, and the headspace is still a mental institution, like the othervoid, says alot about the Moon Knight System's self loathing. That goddess at the end could be Twaret.
It is possible that the Hippo god shown in Ep4 is actually Hathor, who sometimes takes on the likeness and abilities of Tarewet in Egyptian mythos. When she assumes this form she is depicted as wearing the Hathoric sun disc to signify it is Hathor. The Hippo in Moonknight has a Hathoric sun disc adorned on her head. So this may be Hathor, whom we met the avatar of, in the hallway scene after Harrow was questioned, saying she could help. It could be Tarewet, but Marvel crediting the voice actor (Antonia Salib) "playing Tarewet" could simply be a typical Marvel misdirect as to not spoil an upcoming plot element.
That hippo i believe that goddess is named Taweret and she is the goddess of fertility, childbirth, rebirth and resurrection lol! also that other sarcophagus that sounded like some one else was banging on so Marc and Steven can let them out but they ignored and kept walking by it, is the 3rd personality Jake Lockley, and Steven and Marc don't know theres a 3rd and Jake is the more aggressive, brutal killer, remember on episode 3? how Marc asked Steven what did you do? and Steven said that wasn't me? yeah it was Jake taking over, episode 1 when Steven woke up and a bunch of Harrow's henchmen were dead around him and he took the Scarab back and his hands were bloodied up? yeah that Was also Jake, the guy that stared into the camera at the museum and Steven said that's not me, every one thinks that was Marc but nope i think that was also Jake, Jake can take control of the body whenever he wants without permission, even at the end of episode 2, when we see Steven in the mirror and then we think its Mark that's sitting on the floor drinking a bottle of alcohol and gets up to open the curtain to reveal they are now in Egypt? again that was not Marc it was Jake the 3rd personality they been messing with us the entire show if you pay attention to the reflections a lot of times you see 3 of them, representing the 3 personalities, even when Marc fights those 3 guys with the knives go back and see, when he's holding that one guy and Steven talks to him through the mirror telling him to stop, he gets hit on the back of the head 1x, then the guy he was holding punches him and knocks him out that's the 2nd hit and then when he falls the back of his head hits the ground making that the 3rd then he wakes up from that with the knife in his hand and he had just killed 2 out of the 3 guys he was fighting yeah that was Jake Lockley and how coincidental is it that it was 3 guys and the 3rd was a young guy and decided to kill himself so he doesn't talk, again the number 3 comes into play and it's been all over the show and every episode.
Do you think the battle between Konshu and Amit is related to Marc/ Steven's mental health? How people with mental illness are institutionalized/ imprisoned for "their own good" but mostly for the "general public's safety" governed by fear. Your are deemed a risk to society and therefore your imprisoned/ condemned (REMEMBER THE SCALES!). Marc is Konshu's avatar and perhaps its hinting that its unfair to be imprisoned for something society deems as a potential to commit. Interestingly, the red coffin for me does evoke that "potential". Just my thoughts, not a Marvel fan but IM HOOKED!
ALSO! We get to feel (not understand fully) a lil bit what it may be like to be someone who struggles to grasp reality. Like for real, Ethan Hawke could legit be his psychiatrist but I was like ..... I DONT TRUST YOU. LIES. THIS AINT REAL LOL Director 10/10 for this show... some good sh*t
Osiris being even more suspicious than before. What if Harrow is working on Osiris' behalf to free Ammit, aka one of Osiris' old associates? Maybe that cane containing a bit of Ammit's power originally got into Harrow's hands via Osiris?
You can say the menntal institute is where the 2 alters finally came together and finally met face to face, believe it or not someone with DID can have a whole other world inside their head where everyone lives in different places like in real life or non real places and sometimes they can meet up or be forbidden by other alters to not go to certain parts in their system, it sounds strange but its very much real
The End scenes are the reality that the Exiled Egyptian gods are confined within; the biggest clue is Kettepth at the very climax as her statue is contained in the stone wall of the other exiled gods.
Fun Fact: Oscar Isaac is acting w/his brother in scenes where he needs to be duplicated. Hippo = Goddess Taweret. My father and I always joked that a bunch of TV Shows we liked could have ended with the character waking up in an asylum. But here, this is a character where him being insane and imagining all this is a legitimate possibility
Taweret, the hippo, is the Egyptian goddess of healing, fertility, motherhood, birth, and rebirth. We haven't seen her before. The woman who spoke to Marc in the last episode was the avatar of Hathor. She was the goddess of music, dance, and the like. She wasn't part of the Ennead in Egyptian mythology, but I suppose their membership might of changed. I don't know what would happen if you suddenly let a bunch of gods free. Some of them might actually of deserved it. Anubis, the god of death, was in there too. Also the patron of Black Panther. I think Marc did die when Author shot him. Rather than being the result of some magic Author is using I suspect the asylum is the product of Marc's fractured mind, although that doesn't stop a goddess from entering it. Keep in mind Marc has been killed before. Although last time he had Khonshu to bring him back to life. Although now he has come face to face with the goddess of rebirth.
There was a very similar episode on Smallville where the monster did the same thing to Clark and all the titles and names from his life were from items in the asylum.
This episode is messing with my mind. I started questioning wether all the event that happened before was nothing more than just an imagination of a mad man name Marc. Until I saw the egyptian hyppo said "hi "I was laughing and almost fell of my chair. That was so random!
OK so remember the panther god in black panther bast is based on the Egyptian god and we’ve had mentioned to this connects the black panther in that way. Bast is based on real life mythology Bastet. Bastet was given the heart of ra. Funny enough wakanda had a heart shaped herb. Marc is Khonshu avatar so in a way since the black panther got his power from bast is he like her avatar. The asgardians are gods and we have seen a transfer of power from thor to steve Rogers however it be by a Thor’s hammer. THat brings me to relics of dr strange where they use weapons of higher beings to channel energy and power. Also a lot of this is based on Egyptian mythology which is In Africa another obvious connection to panther. Bastet is a direct child of ra and also his protector.
10:25 I think only Khonsu's avatar has healing power and Ammit's avatar doesn't. Because according to the myth, the moon god Khonsu is also a great healer. His reputation as a healer is so great it spreads outside of Egypt and his very image can instantly cure an illness.
I would say you were already on the right track. Some goddess will want a new avatar - it just may not be Ammit, but Taweret, our lovely hippo. And as the goddess of childbirth, she could bring Marc/Steven back to life...
Wow Steven falling for Layla knew that was gonna happen. He hit him with fight club punch lol Lol can’t just be running and rolling around in the sand everywhere might fall into the sarlacc pit man. They did that mental hospital thing from the comics that’s dope what is that Dora the explorer Indiana Jones shit they playing on the tv
dudes, have you not seen the movie "Twelve Monkeys?" ...? amazing fun reaction y'all. rock on! i'm sure someone by now would have told you -- Bill Sienkiewicz may have been the original super-amazing artist for this comic in the 80s, but Jeff Lemire was the writer in who was the inspiration for this storyline in 2016. so much fun! thanks for all y'all do! this was a real "Steins;Gate" moment here.
ABSOLUTE MAD LADS DOING THE LEMIRE ALLUSION. Probably one of the biggest risks the MCU has ever taken and I greatly applaud them for it. I’ve been absolutely loving this series so far, I really hope these last two episodes hit the landing
Plus Taweret is the goddess of rebirth and regeneration, so she probably bring them back to Life!!! Anyway great reaction y'all can't wait for the next one 😎🍶
If you don't already know the hospital is actually a mindscape, basically somewhere the mind can escape him too when in a struggle. The hippo was Taweret, the goddess of Fertility, Resurrection, and Rejuvenation. Also the person in the coffin in the hospital is Jake Lockley, Marcs 3rd personality whos also a taxi driver and a bit of a dick. I imagine that episode 5 will be Marcs backstory and episode 6 will officially reveal Jake.
The comics had a story arc where Mark was trapped in a illusion and made to think his whole life was a lie, this episode def was drawing from that towards the end. How much in common this has with that story We'll have to wait and see.
i think that the Hospital type of place during the last part...Is a place where the souls of Avatars are sent/held/placed after death hence why you see the other sarcophagus in the one room right before the Egyptian Hippo God "Taweret" of Fertility and Childbirth opens the double doors...and i think Taweret will have the Ability/Powers of Rebirth/Resurrection...but as a cost of payment one of their Souls Marc or Steven will have to comeback right after the set deal time limit window is up and remain forever never to be reborn again...which i have a feeling Marc will be the one to take the deal as a way to accept his crime towards Layla...which would also give Steven his freedom and Layla can have a honestly fresh start with Steven...but that is just a thought/idea
OMG, what an episode!!! I have no words. I want Episode 5 right now! I need answers for what I saw at the end! Also, Kacee, let me find out you secretly a freak in the sheets! What do you know about "Mr. Steal Yo Girl"??? Who taught you about that??? Tik-Tok??? (3:15-3:18; 4:25-4:27)
리액션 항상 재미있게 보고 있어요! 문나이트가 진짜 마블 드라마 중에서 독보적인것 같아요! Always enjoying the reaction! Moon night is really something else! Nothing like the rest of the Marvel series.
I think the mental institution was purgatory since Marc/steven died and the hippo goddess is there to help them in the afterlife since I saw in one of the comments that she helps people in afterlife
Remember the clip they show a weeks ago? it shows a Boat in a desert! After see the Hall moving, Im concern this place is afterlife, is like Soul movie when Joe Gardner and 22 meet MoonWind with his boat in The Great Before?🤔
Episode 5 spoilers: ... ... ... ... After this cut ... ... ... ... Casey: "You're in the water now, get out of the water!" Moon Knight Episode 5: "Oh, wait, did you mean that literally?"
Yeah, that friendly Hi at the end was Taweret, an Egyptian goddess associated with healing, fertility, motherhood, and childbirth.

The Den of Nerds has the best breakdown of episode 4.
This gave off Legion vibes
Yes!!! Finally someone said this
Fr
I love watching people flipping out at the ending.
10:25 I think only Khonsu's avatar has healing power and Ammit's avatar doesn't. Because according to the myth, the moon god Khonsu is also a great healer. His reputation as a healer is so great it spreads outside of Egypt and his very image can instantly cure an illness.
Great reaction, Kacee & Anthony! We got to see Taweret in the end of this episode... 😉
The end of this episode was like the entire series of Legion, great series but a real head fuck, good to see a reaction of that
This episode really reminded me of the Legion series on disney.
I would say you were already on the right track. Some goddess will want a new avatar - it just may not be Ammit, but Taweret, our lovely hippo. And as the goddess of childbirth, she could bring Marc/Steven back to life...
Wow Steven falling for Layla knew that was gonna happen. He hit him with fight club punch lol
Lol can’t just be running and rolling around in the sand everywhere might fall into the sarlacc pit man.
They did that mental hospital thing from the comics that’s dope what is that Dora the explorer Indiana Jones shit they playing on the tv
6:00 Awwwww, he wants a hug
Confused, terrified, fascinated, thrilled, unsure what is real or not?... welcome to a pretty classic Moon Knight story , lol.
This series is such a Movie!
If you read the comics
this is from it,
the ward is in marcs mind
prison er
The ending with that god was funny as hell I knew it was a pocket universe.
A lot of references to Kang , He was a Pharaoh called Rama tut
The beginning of Psychiatric ward scene reminded me of an Episode of Community lol
I’m so confused! 😂 But Oscar Isaac is killing it 👌
Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I had the same reaction to the ending 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just gotta say, that creepy thing in the tombs brought a lot of "The Descent" XD
Layla is literally look like Rachel Weisz in this episode and she's super cool
dudes, have you not seen the movie "Twelve Monkeys?" ...? amazing fun reaction y'all. rock on! i'm sure someone by now would have told you -- Bill Sienkiewicz may have been the original super-amazing artist for this comic in the 80s, but Jeff Lemire was the writer in who was the inspiration for this storyline in 2016. so much fun! thanks for all y'all do! this was a real "Steins;Gate" moment here.
Everybody in the hospital was from his memory should go back and watch it
ABSOLUTE MAD LADS DOING THE LEMIRE ALLUSION. Probably one of the biggest risks the MCU has ever taken and I greatly applaud them for it. I’ve been absolutely loving this series so far, I really hope these last two episodes hit the landing
Jake lockley is definetly in the third tomb
6:55 Why would he find the tomb of Tutankhamun??😂....They already found that wayy back in 1922😂
Taweret, Goddess of life, regeneration, rebirth, motherhood, childbirth, protection etc.
Never would have thought I’d see a Hippo in the MCU😂😂😂 wtf is that Ammit ? This was wild
The comics had a story arc where Mark was trapped in a illusion and made to think his whole life was a lie, this episode def was drawing from that towards the end. How much in common this has with that story We'll have to wait and see.
The scream at the end was absurd.
After everything they've seen, a talking hippo god-person is pretty much Tuesday.
It's resurrection so Stephen and Mark have came back from death
i think that the Hospital type of place during the last part...Is a place where the souls of Avatars are sent/held/placed after death hence why you see the other sarcophagus in the one room right before the Egyptian Hippo God "Taweret" of Fertility and Childbirth opens the double doors...and i think Taweret will have the Ability/Powers of Rebirth/Resurrection...but as a cost of payment one of their Souls Marc or Steven will have to comeback right after the set deal time limit window is up and remain forever never to be reborn again...which i have a feeling Marc will be the one to take the deal as a way to accept his crime towards Layla...which would also give Steven his freedom and Layla can have a honestly fresh start with Steven...but that is just a thought/idea
Maybe the Egyptian gods weren’t hiding from humanity out of hubris, but hiding from something else out of fear. . .
"DOCTORS DON'T WEAR SANDALS!!!"
His partner was Raul bushman. Hopefully he will show up.
- (Producer guy) Why do the gods just accept Arthurs words over Marc ?
- (Script guy) So the serie can happen
- (Producer guy) Oh ok gotcha !
My doctor wears sandals in his clinic. Without the broken glass in it, of course.
I think the mental institution was purgatory since Marc/steven died and the hippo goddess is there to help them in the afterlife since I saw in one of the comments that she helps people in afterlife
Ep1 and ep4 my favs by far 💕
That’s taweret goddess of resurrection or rebirth and motherhood and fertility and all that. Lol u get the drift.
The Hippo Goddess is Taweret who is the Egyptian Goddess of Childbirth and Fertility...voiced by Antonia Salib.
Remember the clip they show a weeks ago? it shows a Boat in a desert! After see the Hall moving, Im concern this place is afterlife, is like Soul movie when Joe Gardner and 22 meet MoonWind with his boat in The Great Before?🤔
Hathor is associated with a Bull. Shes sometimes depicted with a bull's head.

I think this pocket universe is called the Overvoid.
hippo god Tawaret
of protection and rebirth
