3 Sides is a a masterpiece album-hard to beat that. But, Extreme is like a wonderful concoction of Queen, Van Halen and Aerosmith. Really, a top 5 all time band for me.
They should have been one of the biggest bands in America. Nuno is sooooo underrated. When will the guitar world recognize him for his godlike playing. I can't look at "best guitarists" lists because they never put him in a justified spot. I have high hopes for this new album.
If I'm not mistaken, I read somewhere that Nuno doesn't care about accolades, so maybe it's his wish. Still, I agree tho that he doesn't get the recognition that he deserves
he's never been underrated. everyone in the guitar community has regarded him as one of the best. consistently top 3 in the world in every guitarist's opinion. he just likes to be quiet about it and just enjoy being able to play. that's just it. he's not like steve vai who loves the spotlight, and I mean that in a good way. I love how steve vai loves the spotlight hahahahha. he gets creative with how to get into the spotlight and I enjoy that.
It's curious how the band got only one super massive hit, and it sounds nothing like the rest of the album. By listening to "More Than Words" alone, you don't even get the notion the lads are a heavy rock band, you don't even get the notion that Nuno is particularly remarkable on the guitar (the single version does cut off the fancy shreddy guitar bit), and it does not even sound like a more stereotypical rock ballad, more like Everly Brothers/Simon & Garfunkel stuff. I remember I was so surprised. I bought Pornografitti without knowing anything else other than their set at the Freddie Mercury Tribute. Blown away by the guitar work and their overall sound.

I love it when people from my generation (Gen X), come back and put on a M'Fing CLINIC showing younger generations the immense power, grace, and sheer beauty of ROCK AND ROLL. This music will never die. Watch and learn - and recognize the absolute brilliance of masters.
I see you've joined the boomer side of things.
@@patrickmcpartland1398 Unfortunately, I have to. Things were just better in the last century when it comes to art and culture.
@@patrickmcpartland1398 he’s just an old soul! Everyone knows there no talent or virtuosity coming from young kids these days! All the 10 year olds playing EVH solos note for note are missing that feel! The toans in ur fingers Brugh every boomer knows that!
You should check out Polyphia who played a "recent" song with Steve Vai.
I was hoping you would do a video about this!!! Yes!!! Thank you, Justin.
Awesomeness!!! Had no idea they had released a new record... absolutely f**king awesome!!!
Finally ran across Extreme just a couple of weeks ago. What a talented crew.
It's so exciting that Extreme are back with new music. They are the most underrated band and amazing live. I saw you support them in 2008, such a great gig! What struck me seeing them live is how damn good Pat Badger is, both on bass and his backing vocals. Nuno is just astonishing! And Gary has the energy of a man half his age (he's around 60 years old). This single is brilliant and I can't wait for the album in June. Thanks for the video Justin.
Nuno is one of few guitarists who still surprises me. Fantastic!
Extreme is a great band! That solo is fucking mind blowing! Can't wait to add this new record to my collection hoping a cool vinyl is part of the release
One of the best underrated bands of all time
Who underrates them?
@@PeeWee75 As a group that came out towards the end of the 80s beginning of the 90s they got lost in the grung era. But if you know there quality you know
Love Extreme, and Nuno was one of my absolute heroes when I started to play. Just a really great and talented band.
Incredible band, great song. Can’t wait for the album
The hidden song on "Waiting for the Punchline" has one of the sickest riffs of all time. Nuno is an absolute legend.
Amazing return from an amazing band
Whoa, the verse vocal melody and tone remind me heavily of Stone Temple Pilots.
Velvet Revolver
He even moves like Scott W..in this vid
Silvergun Superman that is.
It’s been my first thought as well.
Verse and pre chorus actually.
Great song though.
Not a big fan of the mix myself.
But hey…right about time for a comeback, Gary’s singing better than ever.
And Nuno…come on…🫣🤤
Absolutely. Silver gun super man?
It’s like a tribute to weiland and Nuno has said the whole album is a tribute to EVH
Thrilled to see the return of Extreme. 2023 needs them. Also, this channel must go on forever. Absolutely addicted.
I love Nuno, and Extreme harmonizes like no other band. Three sides to every story is one of my favorite albums.
You haven't heard of Alice in Chains?
@@spill1t yes, I have one of my favorites as well.
Nuno amazing, always be one of my favorite guitarist. My first time that I listened Extreme was on the Freddy Mercury Tribute and I fell in love. Hope to see them soon.
Nuno is just marvelous.
Can’t get enough of these videos. Thank you, Justin.
Just when you think you’ve heard it all. Nuno comes out with something fresh.
Love when you talk about your favorite things. So amped up, dig it!
Nuno is a guitar god. Also seems to age much more slowly than most humans.
1966
He's the Paul Rudd of shredders...
@@Moveplaylift Paul Rudd mirror scene wanderlust? If yes, then I agree.
Justin, that’s a simply lovely jumper!
Extreme are amazing what a band .. years ahead of their time
Growing on me video takes me to MTV Summer 1984ish..., my favourite video now. Thank you.
Justin Fucking Hawkins Rides againnnnnn! 🎶🎶🕺🏽
Love your show, Justin! You always bring out the positive, and that's such a great thing in these hard times.
Justin!!! Being such a huge fan of yours, it makes me smile seeing your appreciation and enthusiasm of Nuno (and Extreme)! I’ve been a fan of his playing since their first song came out way back when. He’s an absolute monster!!!
I hope the writing sessions are going well! Can’t wait to hear what you cats are creating this time around!!
Cheers!
PS: Nuno is using around 220ms of delay (single repeat) for the percussive hammer on arpeggios near the end of the solo. Good shit!!
You the man, Justinooo. Hurrah!
In like two days the video for Rise has reached over 400.000 views. It might be nothing to brag compared to bands like Metallica, The Rolling Stones or AC/DC but it is plenty and much more than many other rock acts get. I had no idea Extreme was still such a big band.
My kid was in a rap video by an artist that is in prison for murder and it got 45 million views
If you can, see Extreme live. I've seen them 3 times since 1989 and over the years they have not slowed down. Unlike "big" bands, they leave everything on the stage. My brother was a Stones fan and he was in awe of Extreme's energy.
@@drunvert Yet Nuno Bettencourt doesn't need to kill anyone and manages to be one of the best guitar players in the world. I'm going with the "Don't kill anyone to be famous" gang here...
@@JorgeCanela I'm w you.
My Son didn't even take a picture w the guy after the shoot
"Lovely story eh" Justin, that's exactly why we tune in haha
Extreme fan since I saw bill and ted’s excellent adventure in the theater and heard play with me as genghis khan demolished oshman’s sporting goods! This song rocks and encapsulates everything great about extreme and has a very cool muse Stockholm Syndrome vibe in the bridge with a face melting solo indeed.
They sound great! And they look great! Glad to see them back!!
Another guy that rarely gets mentioned is Steve Stevens. Another incredible guitarist. Nuno is the definition of “cool guitarist” Reverse headstock, painted finger nails, long Fabio hair. And insane chops. Too cool
Cousin Steve!
THE extremely gorgeous unique Steve Stevens🤩
Oooh...long hair and painted nails! Too much, huh?
Steve Stevens is one of my favourites. Originally found out about him when my old man showed me the Top Gun anthem - then I heard Atomic Playboys and that was one of the songs that inspired me to play guitar a few years back. Now I can play it too, not as well as Steve, but I’m always improving 😂
Painted nails on a man. Definitely not normal
Nuno has always been in my top 5 string slingers 🔥🎶🖤🎶🔥 Extreme is just that Extreme Vocals, Harmonies Groove & That Solo knocked me over Wow Extreme does it Again 🔥🖤NUNO 🖤🔥 Thank-you. You made Eddie smile .....xx
I discoverd them on the Freddie Mercury Tribute VHS ( yes 😁 ) they did a Medley of Queen songs...it was in 1992...I don't really know their music but Nuno is a legend ! I discoverd Metallica as well on this video, they opened the gig...I knew at this moment I wanted to be a musician ! It was on April 20th 1992 , the video came out in December...the attitude of Jason Newsted on stage changed my life forever ! I was 14...
I was there ❤
@@ragman1960 Respect ! 🙏 I was already a huge Queen fan back then ! But 14 years old living in the South West of France didn't allow me to see big gigs at the time ! 😂
Did you make it as a musician? I don't necessarily mean professionally, just would you as a 14 year old look at you now and think you rock hard enough?
@@AstromarineCorpse I m satisfied, It's my job now ! In a modest band but I have enough money to live ! I sing and play guitar...I just wish I had spend more time practicing in my 20's instead of drinking and that kind of stuff....partying too hard until the addiction came...anyway, things are what they are and I m 12 years sober
@@sebastienfayemendie2514 Double congratulations then! for the sobriety and the fulfilling your dreams. I never had the professional musician dream, but I always loved playing in a band, especially live shows. I did it as a kid but then life happened, happy to report that now at 47 I am back on the bass and playing with a band again, even gave a tiny tiny concert again. Music is fucking magical, man
I love Extreme! This is an awesome new song! And awesome takes by Justin!
Three notes in to More Than Words and I'm immediately transported back to high school. Extreme is so shamefully underrated.
You asked a few days back about content. Would love to see you and Luke Spiller doing duets and/or covers of your favorite songs together. You guys have a great vibe together and your vocals are AMAZING!
How about a Struts, Extreme, The Darkness triple bill tour? Yes please. Pat Badger LOVES The Struts too.
Sadly the licensing fees for doing cover tunes have gotten stupid expensive.
You are just Fukin gold mate. Great to hear a Great player talk about a Great player. You Rock.
Listening to the first part of that solo, I could be listening to the ghost of EVH. Nuno’s captured that legendary brown sound perfectly. What an incredible tribute to Eddie. Intentional or not, it moves me to tears and I can’t stop listening to it. The second half of the solo is all Nuno and what a f’n ride THAT is! 😲🥹
Love this. Especially the 'I am going to listen to that solo again, sorry' bit. Cheers!
Nuno cant be copied. You can teach what he does, but his is a God-given talent that cant be replicated. I have heard others play his songs, but no one can play like he does.
Loved this band since 92. Great live funk/rock. Nunos off the charts.
Underrated? Never has he been that.
he's never been underrated. everyone in the guitar community has regarded him as one of the best. consistently top 3 in the world in every guitarist's opinion. he just likes to be quiet about it and just enjoy being able to play. that's just it. he's not like steve vai who loves the spotlight, and I mean that in a good way.
Jussy, I fuckin love you mate…. Thank for bringing Extreme back into our lives …. Rock on my man 🤘🏼🎸
I took my son Max, to see you support Extreme in Southampton. That’s not a bad first gig
Decadence Dance is one of my all time favorite songs. I hear bits and pieces of it in this song - and why wouldn't I?
Yus!! Nuno is top 10 for sure…. Top 5 in my books. Love all your reactions, keep up the good work Justin! P.S. I think I am I Ever Gonna Change is probably my fav Extreme song
This whole band is straight 🔥. Always have been. This song, to include the solo, truly is the sum of its parts.
These guys always play at 150%
