Omg i had a warrant and went to jail for the exact same thing Ms Lipscomb said happened to her son. Except i have to wait to go to court March of 2024 to get this straightened out. After already being arrested and humilated for something i believe has already been taken care of. They came to my house with a warrant, fixing to drag my daughter out of our truck and handcuff her because she looks like me. But she told them over and over that she wasnt me. She kept sending her 7 year old inside of our home to get her purse. My granddaughter told me to follow her outside. I had to calm the situation and tell them my name so they'd shut up and leave her alone. They said she looks like the pic they have of me. They did allow my daughter to leave with my grandkids so they wouldn't see me get arrested. They were already upset from thinking their mom was going to jail. They said the warrant came from me missing court, that had been rescheduled by the judge back during covid when they weren't having court. They said i missed court on 9/17/23 and a warrant was issued 2days later. Now im lost and kept telling them i didn't have a court date on any day in September. He said they must have sent the notice for court to the address i lived at in 2020. So they couldn't send my new court date to my new address but they could swear out a warrant for my arrest and send officers to my new address to harass my family, upset my grandkids and take me to jail. That entire department is messed up!!! They all need new training or fire everyone of them and start over brand new. And they always use the tag light as a reason to stop you. They did the same thing to my son. My husband and i were standing there so we looked to see if the light was out, it was not. So the officer proceeded to be really weird asking my son all kinds of questions even searched the car because he said he smelled Marijuana. After all of that, he didn't give my son a ticket or anything. They love harassing people. #JUSTICEFORSTEVEPERKINS
People need to be asking if these counsel members and especially the chief of police believe in the right to peacefully protest. People need to be directly asking if they believe in the right to due process and the presumption of innocence for ALL people...or is that reserved only for LEOs. People need to ask if Alabama is a stand your ground state. And if they answer yes, the need to ask why those rights were not afforded to Steve Perkins. Drive the point home, that a home is a person's castle and cops being allowed to murder people in their own home, or in their yard, especially without any eveidence of wrong doing, is the EPITOME of infringing on one's US constitutional rights. Ask if a LEOs life is more important than Steve Perkins' life or anyone else's life, for that matter. Hold their feet to the fire.
