    joe as someone who trains mma and jiu jitsu what u said is pretty accurate, at first u don't need to know that many advanced fighting technique shits. As long as you know how to roll and know how to put some1 in a basic choke you're pretty much fine. But you still need to know how to punch because u can hurt yourself punching if u don't know how. Also learn how to fall down because u will be on the ground a lot

    I do karate, and we so stuff like this but if someone puts you in a reverse choke you turn your windpipe into their elbow so it doesn’t cut off the blood flow. From there, if the person is light enough, grab their shoulder and roll them around your hip. Hard to explain but trust me it might give someone a chance at escaping.

    • @oba_reese1611
      @oba_reese1611 8 місяців тому

    I personally agree that grappling is definitely better for overall self defense but if you have the option try to train both striking and grappling. Striking is also important to learn because you might not always be able to get in close range to try to get a choke hold. I would recommend training both styles of combat. For example I train jiu jitsu and muay Thai so I can strike from long range with kicks and whatnot and then I can also take them to the ground and submit them.

    I agree and disagree with Joe. A lot of the time with demonstrating people don’t go full force because it can be rude to do and it’s just supposed to give you a general idea of what to do in that kind of situation, a lot of the time you just got to shadow spar or practice on like a dummy to get better. Self defense Techniques are really just giving you an idea of what works and what doesn’t,and aren’t for using them exactly how your taught. I’d say the best way to defend yourself is to just learn to fight and not techniques so you’re more well rounded

And with blocking shot like that kick to the stomach in the first video it's about redirecting the momentum so your not just lightly tapping it the smacking it to the side in a way and over time you develop a 6th sense of sorts to blocks/deflect those shots

    As a martial artist myself (3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Doe) you are NOT supposed to block with your hand. Blocking with your hand can result in numerous painful injuries (ie breaking your wrist, a finger, stubbing/jamming your finger, etc.) Also, that elbow block/peck attack move is a horrible idea. All someone needs to do to avoid that is literally anything.
