A few light taps on the solenoid with a long 1x1 stick got mine started several times then it cleared up and then over a few weeks it refused to start again so i had reached in and around the cold starter and tried and it started, so yes i believe it could be a ground wire issue, so check everything but it will take some patience ,

I have a 2010 dodge journey , ran fine for a long time an never had problems until recently then boom wouldn't start at all then I could start it in neutral , well that got to where it didn't wanna work either an you'd have to shake the shifter well I guess from all the damn reading I've done this is a bigggg problem with the journeys an people think it's the starter or battery an ground issue , it's a sensor issue !! It's on the side of the transmission !!! I have a 2010 dodge journey 2.4 4 cylinder so I hope this helps who ever reads it an saves you from looking dumb like I did putting my car in neutral or thinking my starter went out!!

Simple diagnostics my friends. Any mechanic or skilled wrencher as myself would find that problem...bad ground. No need to remove the battery for testing. The jump start lug and grounds are immediately evident for diagnostic or charging. Chrysler products are world class in performance and longevity.
Get yourselves a good battery tester, resistive load preferably and an inexpensive code reader.

Mine has done this every six months for the past year and a half , clean and retighten the battery clamps as well , we replaced one because thats all the local had in stock and it just happened again last monday and I have ordered the other clamp . After trying the extra ground to the block and the start in neutral my emchanic friend and I are convinced the crappy stamped metal battery clamps don't have enough direct contact area so they corrode quickly and lose partial contact preventing the car from charging the battery completely . Every time it's happened my battery has needed 12-16 hours on the trickle charger to recharge completely but the alternator puts out just fine . This guy said he removed the battery so he then had to re-install it which probably fixed the problem until the terminals get corroded again , terrible place for a battery .

I think there are multiple issues with the starter system. Oddly enough, mine was doing it regularly and at first wiggling the shifter stick side to side would work, then only putting it in neutral would do it. Then I had to wiggle it in neutral to get it to turn. Eventually it actually got better and only rarely gives me trouble and the neutral wiggle always works. There's also a problem with the main circuit board under the fuse block that disabled my remote start and keyless entry features. Curse the engineer who put the battery in the wheel well where the dirt and salt corrode the battery bracket nut that only a contortionist can reach. And now my power window switches are snapping off when we put the windows up. Another bogus design that to put the windows up you have to pry the switch upwards stressing the plastic tabs that hold it on to failure over time.

Well, I have a similar problem with my 2010. I found that I wiggle the solenoid control wire and it starts right up. It is in such a hard place to reach (between the manifold and block), I can't easily get at the connection. I suspect it is a clip on and I was told to get some dielectric grease on it. So I put some on my finger and rubbed it as best as I could feel, wiggled the connection. It was fine for a couple years and it's doing it again. I reach in, wiggle it, and it fired right up. I suspect I need to pull off the manifold and fix it properly.

It sounds like dodge corp put the battery in the fender well So if your batty goes dead you would have. Way to the battery by pulling the wheel. You can jump it or to charge it to unlock the car Sounds like the engineers found a way to. Have it toed to a dealership To. Check fir a weak battery or a weak ground you have to have the car unlucked to shit it in neutral. For it to be toed just anouther got you from the. Auto maker I have fixed some of Thea’s. Dodge. Cars with a bad neutral switch. Yes they are hell to change. Lots of time consumeing

If this or yours is a push start... Try the pushing the Start button 5 times method. My sisters was doing this also, told her about that method. An it's been starting just fine, even after it won't start the first time...

I have a 2014 that gets REGULAR MAINTENANCE! with 238000 km on it?? I also have a Chevy cruz that's gets the same treatment with less km and less dependable?? Chevy always starts but nothing else works. Replaced window motor, tide rod end, and washer fluid pump in the last yr. Cost alot more on repairs than journey. Zero dollars on repairs in LAST 2 YEARS.

I have this truck and a Chevy. This truck is a piece of S%#!. I was stuck at the store last week for an hour and this truck still wouldn't start. Its been in the shop about 3x since I got it in February. I just drive my Chevy everyday and leave this truck parked.
