    Nice thing to do, Tony. Were I young and just getting into stuff I'd be all over this. But retired now, so I'm trying to thin things out, not collect more. Hope the winners get good use out of them.
    My introduction to welding came at a Boy Scout camp-out, one of the adult's trucks had a broken part in the front suspension. They pulled 4 trucks nose to nose (but NOT touching) and used jumper cables to chain the batteries together and made a half-assed 48 volt, 300 amp welder setup. One guy had a supply of welding rods and off they went.

Then one day in the winter of 1987 while waiting in line at the bank, I discovered the greatest economic conspiracy & most blatant fraud the world had ever seen. My greenbacks had an old woman wearing a funny hat on them! My whole world imploded & I've since constructed an elaborate, alternative reality for myself. I'd love to learn to weld and get one to use to do that. But I know that these welders would be lost on me as I doubt I need anything like those to do what I would want to. Thanks for giving those away. Maybe someday you'll do so with something I can really put to work. Good luck to all. Tony you are the best!

    Hats off to Tony. I went from not knowing ish about tools to having a pretty good understanding of tools, metals, and manufacturing methods. A lot of times I talk to people in the industry and they ask where I learned all this? I always tell them “This Old Tony” duh. Really good channel. I’m a software engineer and wanted to learn a new skill. Tony just dumps knowledge into your head disguised as dad jokes. Great guy! Thanks Tony!

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS TONY! Also, I'd love the welder... So I could donate my other 2 to the local schools. Maybe it'll help others to learn the art and have a good career.

    • @gorak9000
      @gorak9000 5 місяців тому

      Most stuff donated to schools ends up sitting in a corner or in the garbage. Do you think they're really going to spin up a new course based on some old crap that someone dropped off? Most schools are cancelling all of their vocational training because of lack of funds for teachers to teach them. People always say this about computers - yes, that's what schools want, a bunch of mismatched random old junk riddled with viruses and spyware to deal with on an individual basis (as opposed to a bunch of new machines that are all the same that they can install once and then image the rest from). And they're going to use that old junk to deliver a consistent and quality product to the students?? If you want to donate them somewhere, find a local makerspace or something. Somewhere where they'll actually be used. Just know that makerspaces themselves are for-profit businesses.

  • @jimurrata6785
    @jimurrata6785 5 місяців тому +1

    I'd love one of these beautiful welders and pass my old junk on to someone else, but realistically I'd never use them to their potential so i want to wish the best to whoever _does_ wind up with them!
    Merry Christmas or whatever your holiday flavor may be.

    My apartment manager probably wouldn't appreciate if I started trying to learn welding in my living room, so alas, I shall refrain from entering to win either of the machines, but can we enter just for the chance to win a personalized phone call from ToT, because I'd totally be down for that 😂
    I appreciate that you make a point to highlight safety and practical concerns for this "project". It is comforting to know that a multi-spacial, uniquely powerful being such as yourself is considerate of our frail human vessels while deeming to bless two of us with a fraction of your power in the form of these marvelous tools!
