    After security, just use the train shuttle that is at D2 and another one near C16 for the Alaska airliners and for S gates, use the train at A3

    I flew out of the US using a Seatac as a connection. My flight was late so I had to rush when I was there. I made it because the signs helped guide me well to my gate at the international section. Hopefully my next visit this April, I will take my time in the airport. I love airports. I love watching and talking to strangers! 😂

    The airport actually has 73 gates with jet bridges currently (with 10 more coming in 2021 with the completion of the North Satellite renovation), not counting the 20 gates that lead to boarding slips for Horizon, and a total of 10 gates for buses to take passengers to remote hardstands.

    Might be going through SeaTac for my first time this summer. We always go back to Ohio from California during the summer and right now Alaska is looking like the best deal with shortest travel time. I've flown Alaska a couple times already but both were inside California. If we do end up going with Alaska this time, it will be cool to add another new airport that I've been to

    • @MilesByFoot
      @MilesByFoot  3 роки тому

      Alaska's got extensive service along the West Coast; in fact, they have just as many destinations in California, Oregon, and Washington as they do in Alaska! SEA's a great airport, especially if you're flying ASA. :)

    My uncle is coming home this week and he's going to use Sea-Tac again. However, he'll fly to Doha in his first flight and back home in Metro Manila which is where I'm from. Speaking of which, Sea-Tac doesn't have a flight to Manila and Vancouver is the only PNW destination from Manila. If only the 2nd airport serving Manila is done, I'm sure it'll have a direct flight to Seattle.

    • @MilesByFoot
      @MilesByFoot  Рік тому

      Sea-Tac to Doha then to Manila? Whew, that's a long trip!

    • @CrystalClearWith8BE
      @CrystalClearWith8BE Рік тому

      @@MilesByFoot, my uncle used Qatar Airways in both routes in that case. My uncle last worked abroad when he works on a ship with a route from Miami to Alaska and he went back to Seattle. His ship even crossed the Panama Canal in that route. On his way home, he flew from SEA-Tac Int'l Airport to Hamad Int'l Airport (DOH), then from there to Ninoy Aquino Int'l Airport (MNL). It was rainy at sunset when me and my dad picked him up and traffic in NAIA was so bad that the only airport serving Manila and only international air gateway to the Philippines, don't have enough public transport. Only the national railway connects the airport as its only public transport. That's why NAIA is the worst airport in the Philippines and is underrated to be one of the world's worst airports. Speaking of best airprots in the Philippines, Mactan-CEB Int'l Airport, serving Cebu City, is the best airport in the Philippines.

    • @CrystalClearWith8BE
      @CrystalClearWith8BE Рік тому

      Maybe my uncle should've went back to Vancouver and take a Philippine Airlines flight from YVR Int'l Airport to NAIA (MNL), but Philippine Airlines isn't that good to be a top tier airline in my opinion.

    A few things to note: inbound flights from preclearance airports may arrive at any gate (and most if not all air Canada is preclearance and arrives at the A gates mentiomed). Also the S and A gates are now connected by a sky bridge which means some international flights may arrive at the A gates as well, and they are building a new International terminal. Yes the S gates are getting a remodel!
    COVID definitely changed a few things In the last several months as well.

    • @MilesByFoot

      You'll likely land in the south Satellite Concourse, clear customs, then exit into the airport's landside. Alaska is the largest airline at SEA, so there should plenty of signs when you exit. You'll go upstairs from the baggage claim once you've cleared customs, recheck your bag, and proceed back through security.
      Four hours will be plenty of time, no matter time of day!

    • @MilesByFoot
      @MilesByFoot  Рік тому

      It almost entirely depends on when you arrive from Vancouver, both in terms of getting to your gate on time after landing and the security lines. To be fair, it will be close, but if you booked them on the same ticket, they have to make sure you get to Qatar one way or another, even if it means rebooking you.

    I'm going to Seattle in May 2022 arriving on Hawaiian Air. Have to pick up my bag at Hawaiian air baggage claim then take it to Alaska ticketing to check my bag for Bellingham flight 2532 on Alaska. All this needs to be done after Hawaiian lands at 9:45 pm and Bellingham flight departs 11:10 pm. Do I have any chance of making the Bellingham flight on Alaska? If anyone can tell me how to do this would be much appreciated. 🥰

    • @MilesByFoot
      @MilesByFoot  2 роки тому +2

      This IS pretty tight, but it should be doable. Hawaiian Air lands in the south satellite concourse, Concourse S, so you'll need to:
      1) Listen to the crew announcements on arrival, as they should tell you which baggage claim to use. If I had to guess, it'd be Baggage Claim 1. If they don't announce it, ask a crew member or gate agent.
      2) Connect to Concourse A one stop on the underground people mover from the center of Concourse S.
      3) Go upstairs after arriving at A, turn right and exit the airside area.
      4) Follow the signs to go down to baggage claim.
      5) Collect your bags, go upstairs, and head towards the Alaska Airlines desk on the north side of the landside terminal.
      6) Check your bag with a kiosk or ticket agent.
      7) Reclear security (there's a checkpoint just beyond the Alaska desks to the right, or the left if you have TSA Pre-Check).
      8) Find your gate; while Alaska uses gates in most terminals, it looks like this flight to Bellingham has been using Concourse C. If you clear security past the Alaska desks, C will be to your left.
      This is a lot to ask in about an hour (you'll need to be at the gate by around 11:00 PM), but it's absolutely doable. The airport won't be as busy, which means check-in and security will be faster than you expect. Move with purpose and don't be afraid to ask directions if you need help! Good luck!

    My friend and I are visiting Seattle next year, also where are the car rental areas? And does Gate S has its own baggage claim area?

    • @MilesByFoot
      @MilesByFoot  3 роки тому

      The S-Gates have their own baggage claim, but only for international arrivals.
      If you're arriving internationally, you'll collect your baggage at the dedicated S-Gates claim after going through passport control. After collecting your bags, you can go left (down the orange hallway) to connect to another flight, where you'll recheck your bags and reclear security. If Seattle is your final destination, you'll go right, down the green hallway and out to the landside terminal, and you're free and clear!
      If you land in the S-Gates on a domestic flight, your baggage claim will be determined by airline, not by gate. As you leave the airside part of the airport, the United and Delta baggage claims are to the right, Southwest, American, and Alaska are to the left.
      All car rentals at SeaTac are done off-site at a dedicated facility. You'll get there via a shuttle bus, which you can line up for near the northern side (left, as you exit) part of the baggage claim.
      Hope this helps!

    International arrivals at the South Satellite BEWARE: once you have collected your luggage and you have cleared US Customs you must put your luggage on another loop (thereby separating you from the luggage you've just cleared) and take the train to the main terminal, THEN collect your luggage off ANOTHER LOOP. A charming setup. And don't forget the five dollars you need to have the privilege of using a luggage cart!

      In my case, I’m flying into SEA on Singapore airlines with 2 checked bags and a carryon. I am flying out on Southwest Airlines in 3 hours, ten minutes, if my flight from Singapore arrives on time. I deplane, pick up the 2 checked bags, put them and carryon on loop, catch the train to the main terminal, pick up my bags again, head to departure and the Singapore check in counter. If I have at least 3 hours, is that enough time, when you add on checking my bags and going through security and getting to my gate?

    • @MilesByFoot
      @MilesByFoot  2 роки тому

      Yes; the entire process of clearing customs, health checks (if required), rechecking baggage, and moving through security should take 2 hours total. It's tighter than I'd like, but very doable! Three hours is the bare minimum time I'd allow for an international-to-domestic transfer in the US.

      All international passengers arriving in the US will claim their checked bags as part of customs, with the exception of pre-cleared flights (only Canadian flights and a handful of European flights currently pre-clear, and Paris isn't one of them). After you claim your bags, you'll almost immediately recheck them, clear security again, then emerge in Seattle's airside terminals.
      Delta has started using some D gates, which is a change from when I filmed this video pre-pandemic. Portland flights have been departing from the main departure hall in Concourse D, and on their new A220s, which I bet you'll like!

    I can confirm sea is the easiest airport to love around, which makes it disappointing. You don’t get the experience of rush rush rush and oh I’m on the wrong concourse
    Just get on a train and you’re fine
    To remedy this just travel with a group of more than 5

    Hello, can I ask If I need a US visa if Im only stop over here in Tacoma go to Vancouver Canada?

    • @MilesByFoot
      @MilesByFoot  Рік тому

      In almost all cases, Jen, you will require a transit visa, called a Transit (C) Visa, depending on your home country, even if you're just passing through. Everyone landing in the U.S. is required to go through Customs and Immigration, whether they're connecting or not.
      Transit (C) visas, much like other visas into the U.S., usually require an interview at our embassy in your country's capital (some consulates can also perform the interviews) and a fee to be paid, which is currently $160 USD. Children under 14 and the elderly, over 80, don't usually have to do the interview, but they still need to apply and pay for the visa. You need to schedule the interview ahead of time, and the wait can range from a few days to a couple months, depending on your country.
      The only countries exempted from transit visa requirements are primarily European countries, as well as a few countries in East and Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
      The State Department's website will have more information to help you: travel . state . gov.

    Hi I’m traveling from Boston to Seattle by jetblue and then in 3 hrs have to take a flight from delta to Fairbanks.. I have to pick up luggage... never been there.. can you help??

    • @MilesByFoot
      @MilesByFoot  3 роки тому +1

      OK, so this one's a little complex, but it's doable in the three hours you'll have there. JetBlue uses a few gates in the South Satellite Concourse (Concourse S) and Concourse A, with most of their recent flights between Boston and Seattle landing in S. Assuming this is the case, follow the signs to the people mover in the center of the concourse. You'll ride it one stop to Concourse A, disembark, and go up the stairs. At this point, or if you landed in concourse A, follow the signs towards gate A6. On your way, you'll see the sign in the video at 0:49. Follow the signs for the baggage claim to the left, walk down the hall and take the escalators down on your right once you're back in the non-secure part of the airport.
      JetBlue's baggage claim might vary, but it looks like most recently they've been using Claim 8, which is a short walk down the baggage claim from where you entered. Collect your bags, then head upstairs to the Delta check-in (there's an elevator past Claim 8 that will deliver you right to Delta's counters.)
      Check in with them, dropping off your bag again, then proceed through security again. There's a checkpoint past the Delta counters, to the left or right. Take whichever one has a smaller line, but Checkpoint 2 (to the left) is likely closer to your gate.
      Delta uses gates in Concourses A or B for this flight. Check the monitors and find the right gate for your flight.
      Depending on the traffic you experience at the airport and time of day, this entire process should take about an hour, maybe a little more, from deplaning from the JetBlue leg to arriving at your Fairbanks gate, so you should have plenty of time, even if your flight is delayed or the airport is particularly busy.
      Enjoy the Frontier State!

    Your presentation is very professional and flawless. However, I seriously dislike the overall layout and arrangement of the concourses and terminals. Very helter skelter and chopped up. Much of it looks like an afterthought, Don't architects design for uniformity and consistency any longer?

      Airport authorities have a lot to contend with when planning out airports. Some airports, especially newer ones, were built with expansion in mind, while others have had to make do with the space, budget, and regulatory restrictions they're given. The newest, largest airports are often built far outside the city, with lots of room to grow!

    This airport feels barely habitable for humans like the design concept was how can we turn a shopping mall into an airport? Watching this everybody looks like chattel. Maybe that’s the plan. have you checked out the $2 billion renovation of PDX? Wow!
