She also lost the father of her first child right before they were going to go to rehab and get clean together.

Half of the heartbreak she's experiencing is caused by her own decisions. Half of it is bad luck.
Personal responsibility is something every adult has to make peace with, otherwise you're asking for misery you really don't need in your life.

Caterina is hands down the best actress on the show. It physically hurts to watch her suffer. I sometimes have the feeling, that the writers keep treating Amelia like shit, because Caterina is just so good at playing scenes like this.
I know right! That scene where she gives the bag of Oxy to Owen and then falls to her knees as she felt the pain of losing Derek...wrecks me every time! I physically feel her pain in my chest. She really is such a special actor.
She is absolutely awesome. She plays Amelia with so much truth and insight.

Can we just take a moment to acknowledge that Maggie is the best sister EVER! I love that she is Amelia’s person and Amelia is her’s. Their bond was instant in season 11 and has grown so much these past few seasons. I just love them together 🥺❤️. My Magmelia heart!

The breakdown Amelia had when Maggie talked about her not being alone. I could see the pain in her eyes. She had to go through her last pregnancy virtually alone because the father of her baby was dead. And then she had to go through losing her baby alone. Amelia has been alone through too many hard things and deserves someone to lean on without fear of destroying them.
I really like Maggie and Amelia’s relationship. I’d love to see more sister moments between the two of them

No, I think what briana is trying to say is. When you're a woman and pregnant and have had a disappointment before like this. You want to know no matter what, that the man who loves you and is there for your baby NO MATTER WHAT. because if you can almost leave because you dont have faith in me. Caterina Scorsone is one hell of a good actress! I loved her character from her first scene on Grey's Anatomy without having watched Private Practice and she is one of my favorite characters on the show.

Amelia is questioning if link really loves her. She’s thinking that link only loved her because she was having his baby. She’s gone onto self protection mode? Is it right? No. But I get it.

I find it sad how many people are defending Amelia. Like, I get it, she's scared of what will happen if the baby isn't Link's, but in the end, her feelings aren't the only ones that matter. That's always been Amelia's flaw. She never takes anyone else's feelings into account. Only hers matter. I mean, she literally just shut down Maggie when she was trying to emphasise with Link.
And all the people dismissing Link feelings. I'm sorry, but he is 100% NOT in the wrong for not being sure if he wants to continue the relationship if the kid isn't his. Like it or not, most people (male of female) don't want to raise a kid that's not their own. And it is downright gaslighting for Amelia to say that if Link really loved her he would stay with her regardless of the baby's dna. Yeah, that's easy for her to say. She already knows 100% that the baby is hers. Link doesn't. When Amelia found out that Teddy was pregnant with Owen's child, did we just expect her to suck it up and be okay with potentially raising another woman's child? If not, then why do we expect the same from Link?
Amelia doesn't deserve any praise in this instance. She deserves ridicule. She is being selfish and thinking about only what is right for her. She is depriving her child of a father (whether that be Owen or Link) and all out of nothing but fear. For all those people saying they hope Link will "step up," stop deluding yourselves. He's under no obligation to be okay with this potential dynamic. Do people not get it? If the baby is Owen's, then Link will most likely be pushed aside in his relationship with Amelia and knowing Owen, he most likely won't let Link have any say over the upbringing of his child. Link will essentially be the third wheel. What sane person would be okay with that?
And also in defense of Link, you cannot deny that he has been astoundingly patient with Amelia. Most men would have already given up on her (and even then they wouldn't be wrong to). It is only now that Amelia has been testing his patience and he has every right to be frustrated with her.
TL;DR, Amelia is not the victim here and Link is not the bad guy for having feelings.

I don't think most people in the comments are saying poor amelia because of that, for me it seems like people just feel sorry for the storyline they are giving to the character, cause they believe she deserves better (eg. having the baby be links without any doubt at all). obviously you are right and link deserves to know if the kid is his or not, it has an impact on his life and its a shitty thing to be doing to him, but also hormones suck
@@babsxg I agree. I loathe what they're doing to Amelia's character lately. She was getting so much better and they tore all the character development away from her within only a few episodes. Yes, she definitely deserved to just have a drama free pregnancy. Hopefully she just comes to her senses and realises she's making a horrible mistake. And I REALLY hope they don't make LINK the one to apologise.

@@brieoliver It’s like the show forgot fathers matter. The baby deserves his or her father and the father deserves his baby. She didn’t go to a sperm donor as a single woman, so she doesn’t get to unilaterally decide to raise the baby on her own. It’s also so stupid she can’t see why Link is upset. I would be devastated if I got excited for a child and found out it might not be mine. She can say biology doesn’t matter and she’s right in a way, but she also very wrong. Biology doesn’t matter if you get a sperm or egg donor as a couple or adopt. It doesn’t matter when a parent dies or abandons their children and another parent steps up. It quite matters when there is another person who has a rightful claim to the child and would want to take care of it. For all the bad things we can say about Owen, I can’t say he would abandon or ignore a child of his. If the baby is his, he will want to be involved in the baby’s life. That means it will never just be Link and Amelia’s baby unless it’s is. Now, you could argue Owen can never try if he never knows which seems to be Amelia’s plan, but it would be wrong to hide a child from a non abusive parent and we can’t blame Link if he didn’t want to do that. Also, the child could grow up to be a mini Owen and then he gets suspicious it’s back to him getting partial custody’s. Like you said, I expect better of Amelia now.

I personally feel the show's quality has declined significantly over the last few years but this latest season especially. I'm not surprised when a show has been going this long. I personally feel the Amelia storyline is dragged out and screams 'we've run out of ideas' by the writers. But look if you disagree and you enjoy this Amelia storyline then i'm pleased for you. gladys kihara I didn't mention Maggie's romantic relationships. I mentioned Maggie herself. Any storyline she gets, fandom literally tears into her for breathing unless she's playing supportive black best friend to Amelia and Meredith. She gets torn into for shit other characters do as well.
The maker she's had one of the better storylines this season and people still whined. Whined about her quitting, being depressed, Sabi storyline, her coming back as Co-Chief. Meanwhile no complaining for Meredith coming back as Chief when she was rightfully fired for insurance fraud. Maggis gets good storylines and has problems like other characters. Y'all only just like her when she's playthe supportive black best friend. God forbid she's front and center though.
Yuthika Nidhi the racial bias in this fandom is ridiculous. Bailey experiences the same thing. She's best loved for being the maternal figure to the interns. The fandom turned on her when she had ocd storyline and when sje rightfully fired Mer for insurance fraud. It's disgusting.

I totally understand Link, its alot too cope with, Amelia relationship with Owen, the Betty stuff, all Amelia problems in the past and now the baby results. But I 100% understand Amelia, if he REALLY REALLY LOVE HER he would choose her over everything even if her life is mested up.

I mean Amelia's never been a rational character, so it makes sense her being pregnant would make her spiral even worse. But I swear if they have her and Owen get back together I'm going to punch something.

While I feel for Amelia, she has gone through so much and still is. However, despite talking about other people letting her in and going off at Meredith about being sister's and all this other stuff. Also, for her to not even consider that this might be difficult for Linc. It's not about love. It's about the stuff that comes with it. If it's not his, then he will be a step dad boyfriend. Everything involving the child will not be between him and Amelia. He will be the third party in his relationship. Owen would also become an even more involved part of their life and it would be so stressful. Amelia has always been selfish. But she hasn't developed empathy towards the people she loves even though she expects it back. He past makes me feel sorry for her, but the fact she hasn't changed or learnt from her pain makes me dislike her. Very much.
I understand her need of reassurance like I understand Links wish for clarity, too. But: Amelia lost so much during the years and every time she gets complicated or her life conditions changed, someone left her. (I perfectly remember hearing Amelias cries when her mother told her that she won't come to her wedding with Owen. That voice is still ringing in my head. Or when she cried that it is too soon that they take Christopher away from her, telling her baby boy without a brain he is PERFECT to her and his daddy will wait for him in heaven. ) I think Amelia's still devasted after loosing Owen to Teddy, though she wishes them the best. She mourns for the loss of that familylife- idea with Owen, Leo and Betty, or at least with the both men. In my opinion, without the writers intervention, Amelia would have (been scared as hell, yeah, but would have) loved (at least) to be pregnant again with a healthy child that's Owen's if that family constellation would've worked.
Now there's nothing left, again. I feel for Link here, yes. I liked him for some reasons, but I think he can't understand the person Amelia is. That's not his fault and it's okay. Link is right to be upset, yes, but I can't see him fight for Amy as well the way the writers portrayed him so far. I think he will end up with Jo. Link, who, what most people seem to forget and ignore, struggled with the thought to be Dad from the beginning. To gave him credit, he said that he will do whatever he can to be by Amys side the time she considered keeping the baby or an abortion.
I think that was the only thing she wants to hear from him now, too. Again. To give that promise to rely on now as well as the last time. That's much to ask, yes. But sometimes hard times need hard decisions and hard methods. That's life. It's like her mother said: Amy is the one child that struggles the most, that falls down, but will get up again. Every time. Everyone here howls about the things Link deserves... But what about Amelia? Didn't she at least do something right in all of her detractors eyes? Will she ever be worth of Links love one day? Or will she just be tolareted because she is the mother of his child, be charged when she will do something wrong every time again? What a stressful life that'll be... She shall excuse and accept every struggle and failure from other people, and accept them for who they are, but shall not expect anything in return, because she has so many failures and has done so much wrong herself? Is this her road to redemption? She shall shut up and stop to demand help and love? Doesn't she deserve to be loved unconditionally, too, giving the circumstances, no matter of her failures?! That's so sad. She is a person who doesn't allow herself to love someone deeply anymore because of all the things that happened to her, and yes, to punish herself already. It seems she is right to do so, because all of them left her in the end.
That's a feeling I can deeply understand and identify with.
I know how hard it is to even try the next time. You loose hope, you loose faith, when you give away your battered tiny heart, and it is crashed all over again.
You become distrustful with yourself that you're a person who is worth to be loved when everyone pushes you away in the end, starting with your family, friends and later in life, men.
It is always your fault that they don't love you, not their loss.
It is hard to learn and accept the lesson that, no matter what, you're worth to be loved because EVERY person is. You deserve it too.
It is hard to try to trust again and again until you find someone who will take you not although the things you've done wrong, but because of who you are now.

What is the problem with Link wanting to know if the child is biological his. There are many layers to this: Link's health history (history of cancer as a child to early adulthood), her connection to Owne, how Owne's future wife will feel (remember how Christine felt with Owne and is now future wife's relationship and before/after their marriage. This also applies to Link)
Link and amelia need to be together. They just make sense.

I think that people are forgetting that link had cancer, he never thought he would have the chance to have a child of his own. when Amelia told him the baby might not be his, he was probably very crushed and scared, and he needs that reassurance. he deserves that reassurance. he deserves to know whether the child he might be raising is his. Owen also deserves to know if he has a baby on the way. its not fair of Amelia to withold all that information from both of these men because she personally feels like it doesn't matter. it obviously matters to someone. nothing is ever that black and white. even the baby deserves to know who his biological father is sometime in the future. she should just take the test.

For once on this show, I'd like them to actually be responsible and not end up in shit situations like this. However, the entire idea of a soap opera is a continuing conflict because human emotion was chosen over logic/rationality/responsibility. Otherwise it would be boring.
