I like how they're all jamming at the end. I also like that the guitar solo part isn't annoying and overly drawn out. That with the synth is just incredible.
3:12 to the end is sublime. The whole song is interesting but this section, Emily's lyrics, Jimmy's falsetto, leading to the incredible solo, the breakdown after, and ends with "it's a one room city yeah" I'm not a kid (although I'm commenting from my kids abandoned Geometry Dash YT channel), this ending is some of the best shit to ever happen in modern music history. The feeling, the musicianship, it transcends. I'm not new to Metric either. This comment comes after many many years of enjoying their new/rock wave from their earlier days. 20+ years now I come back to this. Just like I come back to old Tame Impala.
I kinda love this version - the bassline gets a nice solo in the beginning - sometimes I feel as if he's kinda lost when Jimmy Shaw is just shredding away and Emily's playing the synth
man this place should have invited all of us metric fans to hear them instead of these deaf zombies in the audience. i would have been jamming out to this in the crowd!
You still don't know what you're talking about. More than one note is being used. In addition, more than one riff is being used. But enough bickering over the bass line. I'm merely pointing out that your criticism is invalid.
Don't you feel ridiculous? It's okay. You have an opinion. It's your opinion. But don't act like it's based on fact, or the complexity (or lack thereof) of Metric's new take on their old song. And if we're going to go throw our classical training around...I am a classically trained violinist/cellist and have been playing since I was 3. That's 20 years. Neener neener.
Jimmy's guitar solo is killer, but his voice is nasally and he has a tough time hitting the higher notes. I think his falsetto is decent, but in "Rock Me Now," some notes are simply out of his range.
The wanky bits? Are you referring to the amazing improvisation? Keeping the bassline all the same note? You mean the same riff? The album version is considerably different. In most cases, I am one to argue that longer song does not equate to better song, but with this one I'm going to have to disagree. This is a 5-star take on a 3 star song, hands down.
Emily Haines' voice is simply amazing live...
I love the part about the complimentary shrimp cocktail. I feel as if it's very true, though.

This performance deserves Billions of views. What? I Mean Trillions of views!

I come back to this. Just like I come back to old Tame Impala.
I came for the complimentary shrimp cocktail.

This is probably my favourite song off this album.
This is simply the best thing I know.

and she knows it.
DANGEROUS.
Badass jam.
I LOVE IT!
Wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than the album version. And the album version is amazing already.

You're just SO right!
You absolutely have to. That is where they excel. Take care :)
hell yeah!
100% relaxed, too.
You nuts? This puts the album version to shame.
I wish Jimmy would sing in more Metric songs.
@EarnestOverreactions ..wow, good call. i wonder where this whole myspace performance was? if it was england, then that could plausibly be luke.
THE BEST

awesome.
🎼🎹🎸🥁😁
@aplasticcup06 I think it's 'cos it was one of those myspace "secret shows", but if they gave me one upon entry I'd be rocking myself (then)
That pro-one is a pain in the ass to play live, or so I hear. Still, I love the sound.
And yet for sooo long she's played that Pro-One and makes anyone that's ever given it a bad review to shame for over 12 years now lol
man this place should have invited all of us metric fans to hear them instead of these deaf zombies in the audience. i would have been jamming out to this in the crowd!
um well enough with all the big talk from the peanut gallery
i just love this version
and this band
my role models
emily haines is extremely attractive. and extremely talented.
nice of Em to keep playing that pro-one riff for 4 mins. (not looped)
Okay I know this comment is 11 years old but that riff is so satisfying to play in this song!
The guy sounds a bit off but this is amazing live, it doesn't sound as silly as it does on the recorded studio version
fucking awesome
you may even say she is the deadliest woman alive because of it
This is funny
This is a hard song to do live, but I think they pulled it off.
:o
this sounds like the doors, ghost song
Hahaha. It would appear so.
@aplasticcup06 More like Thorazine...If they smoked a spliff I think they'd be more into the music... :)
you do not remind no doubt group?
Check the whole session at Myspace (much better quality): ua-cam.com/play/PL424BF72873F830A6.html
Why did he offer?
Yeah, his falsetto is not very strong in this song. Still, it's an amazing performance. Fantastic solo.

Whats wrong with these people! Did they all get a spliff upon entry or something?
Better get someone to sing the chorus
His value declined.

The Guitar player James is terrible singer here. I don't know why :((
Doesn't sound as on the record ??
wow that is not remotely as good as the album version
