“You” is the last book I’ve read. That was in September. This book was so bad that I haven’t been able to read anything since. This book truly made me reconsider my passion for reading. I wish I could un-read it. TT

Lao Aidan I think the whole point of the story is that Joe is a creepy stalker with ill intentions but it’s written terribly.
@@laoaidan2400 I feel like the show is pretty good tho. I mean it has it's very weird moments that shouldn't be there but it's pretty nice. It shed light on shitty stalker and abusive predators that seem like perfect average joe. And it even did a pretty good job since a lot of people justified the guy's actions in the beginning and then looked really dumb and clownish by the end because yeah of course the guy who's abusive with everyone else "in the name of love" will end up being super abusive and awful to his partner...that ain't surprising.
Anyway for me the show is good, because the show is absurd as fuck and it fits. It doesn't take itself much seriously. I don't know if I'd recommend it because it's fucked but knowing what Netflix can do it's by far not the shittiest thing they green lighted. (also I'm pretty sure it was on lifetime originally which isn't surprising in the slightest)
@@laoaidan2400 The show was in the solidly okay zone though. Much better than the book because you don't get the super weird writing. Not that it was great, but I didn't regret watching it. It was a good distraction when I was home with the flu.

I didn't read the book. But I watched the Netflix series. I found it very interesting, Joe's narration of his actions, his thoughts and how he quickly justified everything awful thing he did with some twisted logic.
I found it fun.
The show is actually so good. Like the directorial choices and adapted script are A+!
"you" is the sort of thing that could never work as a book because the WHOLE thing just sounds overedgy. as a netflix show i think it ends up working better (at least better than the book) because one: the guy who plays joe is pretty good at turning cringe sentences into really creepy ass comments (which is probably what the author was trying 2 do but failed lol) and two: because other aspects like cinematography and music can enhance the experience where the actual plot is lacking

-So this one time my dad and I went to Starbucks in a different state, where people spoke a different language (India is too diverse) and Dad was really not having the long queue that we had to wait behind. By the time we reached the counter, Dad just scoffed said something along the lines of "Now that they made us wait for so long with the slow service, will they offer rice too?" (It was around 1 pm and we haven't had our lunch yet) in his mother tongue. The person behind the counter just looked up and said in English "Sir, this is Starbucks, I am afraid we don't offer rice here". Don't ask me how he understood our language and knew what we were talking about cause clearly we didn't understand their language but yeah, good times.

I loved "YOU"! Yeah, Joe is inappropriate because he suffers from psychological problems. I found his simultaneous need to idealize a stranger and his anger at her for not acting in accordance with his idealization fascinating - especially since he won't admit to himself she has flaws (some very major flaws). His need to idealize makes him unable to see her as a person (he actually sees her more as a sexual toy instead of, as he claims, a romantic partner), which is why he's so dangerous. Obviously "YOU" is not meant to be a romance or show a healthy relationship. It's a book where the narrator is extremely unreliable. And a cautionary tale about obsession rooted in selfishness masquerading as love. But as always, hilarious review! Love you Cindy!

If you want a wwI romance book that will in fact, shatter your heart, I REALLY recommend “the light between oceans” by ml stedman. It’s not necessarily wwI, but it follows a character who fought in it, and the book is kind of about how it affected him and the woman he falls in love with. I’m not sure if you’ve read it, but it made me cry very hard :D. It really goes into some themes about morality, and if you reviewed it that would be straight up epic. I’m not expecting you to love it because I honestly am not a book critic, and I mostly like books that I read tbh.

Personally, I liked this book. Sure some parts made me vomit but the way that we get into this annoying incel psychopaths head changed my view on things. People will be disgusted with parts of this book because that's who Joe is: Disgusting. Also, I personally liked the writing style, yeah it was a stream of consciousness but isn't that the point we really do get inside his head and it definitely changed my perspective of things and we feel so uncomfortable but THAT'S THE POINT. I love these videos cause I like seeing other peoples intakes on books and how they think of it

When Cindy started to talk about Lovely War it reminded me to put on my TBR on GoodReads and when I got to the book page, there she was. Cindy's review. Just thought it was funny.
Can you please review "Vox" - it's basically like a Handmaid's Tale kinda set up where Women lose rights and are suppose to do chistian trad wife shit now thanks to the new theocracy. A main part being that women wear this bracelet and are restricted to 100 words a day. The main character is a mom and use to be a doctor studying how to cure aphasia, and now her life feels empty and opressively mundane until the plot thickens. Personally I actually liked the first half of the book when they were going through her daily life and the exposition of leading up to this new order and feeling how she feels empty and unfulfilled in her life versus the second half where it feels like the plot gets a little contrived to a quite contrived and too quickly neat and wrapped up ending. I would love to see your take on this.
