The only problem I had with being tall was having trouble finding pants that were long enough and creepy old guys telling me I looked like I was an adult when I was 12.
Yessss!!! Thank you! This movie was so bad and I say that as a 6’1” woman who was 5’8” in 5th grade. Can confirm that my height was something literally zero people my age cared about. The backflips into “oppression” are mind boggling. 😂🙄
Seriously 😭 The only problems my tall friends complained about was how they can’t find cute shoes their size, but then one day we went to the mall together and there was this store with TONS of size 12 and aboves… 😭 other complaints include stretch marks (I find them pretty tbh :/), growing out of dresses too quickly, having to size up to have dresses that fit, all that jazz that can be solved by reselling dresses and stuffs, BUT LIKE 😭 that’s not stuff that you’ll be OPPRESSED about omg
@@loveloveaii re stretch marks, I think that's a genetic thing too! I'm 5 ft but am COVERED in stretch marks ever since puberty. My mum is the same height and has none at all. :(dry skin does that to you

as a short unconventionally pretty brown-skinned third-world country citizen that's been single since birth, i sincerely wish that the worst of my problems was my height SHSJDJDH 😭😭😭
I know the actress actually did struggle because of her height but she was also a dancer or sth, so the whole context is different. I feel like it wouldn’t be such a big deal in a normal high school
ok so i'm a 6'2 woman and was also this height when i was 16 in school and let me tell you this movie is soo embarrassing and badly done. like yeah being super tall when you're a young woman is alienating at times but you're telling me she was blatantly bullied just for that?? hello?? also who did the mum have an affair with in order to produce this child someone pls enlighten me bc her dad is barely 5'9 and i just KNOW he doesn't have the tall gene in his family history. i could go on but life is fleeting
Something I’ve noticed is that quite a lot in movies they have a side character who’s under pressure from pageants and that would be a much more interesting storyline to me than a girl who’s tall
I wouldn't mind seeing more YA movies where the main character has an epiphany and doesn't need to make a speech to virtually the entire school/community about it. Like maybe your peers already have a good self-esteem or an equitable look out on the world...
i literally love them posing for the thumbnail awkwardly every time. also, after having watched the second movie, i genuinely can't remember if in the first movie her best friend had a name? because the second movie corrects a lot of its issues, including giver her best friend a storyline but also they like really put emphasis on her name and i was like wait a damn minute did they not name the black character AND only used her as the stereotypical sassy best friend??
i'll never get over how bad the taller swift joke is, and how they try to make her insecure about being taylor swift, like girl have you googled taylor's height???????
As a tall person my whole school experience the only troubles were the occasional annoying comments about how come I don’t play basketball and always having to be the back center position for every dance photo. Just one time I want to be in the front....😂

As someone who was in the same grade as girls around this height, they were really popular and well-liked. If they were teased for their height, it certainly wasn't something heard blatantly in the halls. That's not to say girls who are uncomfortable with their height don't experience bullying, but it comes across as so exaggerated in this movie. Poor Ellias; Cindy, what bet did you win to drag him into this?
My friend is pretty tall (5'11") and she had like three or four different guys simping for her at varying points, can't speak for her but I feel like this movie is a bittttt misrepresentive lmao (although I guess Jodi did have three different guys simping for her)
@@jonnestyronicha497 - I kiiiiiiinda cynically think they wanted to do the whole "not-conventionally pretty girl needs to love herself" story, but it's kinda frowned on these days, especially if picking the "overweight girl that must be skinny by the end." And they don't want to go too "political and heavy" if the MC is experiencing sexism or racism. So, picking height is a "safe" choice to go with, even though the movie doesn't actually discuss difficulties of being tall other than cartoonish bullying.

Sorry Elias but can't wait for tall girl 2 reaction bc god knows I'm never watching the actual thing, not Netflix cancelling shows left and right then going on to make a sequel for this boring af thing as if there was soooo much plot to carry over from the first one 😭
I'm sorry but when you said that whole thing about cutting her legs off to make herself shorter I just flashed back to this weird film I watched that featured an older woman who paid someone to flay her so she may have her youthful skin back again. For context, it was this odd fairy tale mash-up of a film
My older brother is 6'6", and my sister-in-law is 4'11", and it's a party. I've never had troubles with my own height--5'10" woman. My cousin is 6 foot even, and her and I competed to be the tallest growing up. I do get a lot of "do you play basketball/volleyball" (I don't; I'm miserable at both) and "how's the weather up there", which is annoying, but honestly I don't actually care. The worst part of being tall is back pain, not fitting in the back seat (or on roller coasters, beds, in pants, etc), hereditary heart issues, and hitting my head on everything. Shorter people have equal but different problems, I think.
If this was made 10 years ago, the tall guy would of been played by Penn Badgley. I feel like there was a point in time he was the love interest in every single teenage movie/show. P.s that's why it's such good casting in You because the dream boy we all grew up with is actually a nightmare.
Funny how no one mentions the book that shares the same title (I will not say is based on because the plot is entirely different) and how much better it is and how being tall is not the root of all her problems
I'm sure someone has already commented this but the actress in this movie was on Dance Moms.
