Wow Norway would be such an amazing place to visit. Thank you for taking us along 😊
How awsome, you're in Norway, we get to see wonderful places, thank you Chris.
Awesome video as well as the history Chris. That's a beautiful old church.
Fascinating. It is a beautiful church for sure.
Its crazy how "varg" has become somewhat of a meme in the Metal scene now considering burning a church wasnt even the wors t thing he did
That church is beautiful
Hi! Chris! Very interesting! I never heard of that.. thanks! 😊
So beautiful! Love the architecture of this church and how its made. Why would anyone want to burn them? Hope to see more of these.
I babysat a kid who turned out to be a major arsonist, burned anything, it didn't matter. I visited him in jail and asked him why, and he said it was fun...
This church (and around 50 others) were burnt by members of the Norwegian black metal scene. This was the first one to be burnt and they believed that it was built on ancient Pagan/Viking sacred grounds and that Christianity was destroying their heritage and culture. The charred ruins of this church were pictured on the cover of Burzum’s EP ‘Aske’. The man behind Burzum was convicted of burning 4 churches, but he is suspected of being behind more of the arsons, including this one. The black metal scene was very interesting.
Hope you will enjoy your stay in my country
Wow! Loved the tour and so looking forward to you finding more of these churches! Love your content and appreciate you taking us to places like this; God bless you in your travels…..🌝
Fascinating, Chris. Thanks for taking us along. I've been aware of these churches but never been inside one. Beautiful, and amazing construction techniques!
Since this is basically a recreation, I can't wait to see some of the original ones!
@@MobileInstinct2 I'll be on the lookout for those videos! Enjoy Norway!
Wow!
That's a lotta wood!
🤓👍
Got one here in the black hills of SD
Love the details in the woodwork
What a neat building! Almost looks like something you would see in China or Japan.
Wow, beautiful church!
If I ever get rich, that would definitely be how I would build my house. It's amazing
we have a replica onr in my rown thry nuilt many years ago. in fact it's next to a viking ship called the Hjomkomst ship built in my MN hometown that sailed to Norway in the early 80's
What the video can't capture is the SMELL - there's a LOT of wood.
Also ... sprinklers everywhere;)
Awesome..stay safe . God Bless
i recall a few vizits to one in Rapid city, canyon lake drive a replica made in ? 60. saw as passed by on tour tram on last reunion.
Nice job Chris, enjoy your work, it’s the only way I would get to see many of the places you go because I’m hardly able to walk any more but I do the best I can ! I figure that every day I wake up is a good day !
keep it up! 🌅And keep waking up!!😎
Varge Vickernes from Burzum was the Arsonist amongst a few others
It looks Indonesian wow
I remember this when I was in the black metal scene they burned old church's. It's because black metal is mostly satanic or anti Christian and dark and evil stuff. There was murders, suicide etc. Glad to be out of that evil scene . I'm glad they built that back up if it's dovetailed it's made to last and quality which is difficult to come by nowadays.
Even in the metal scene Black metal is kinda like the crazy uncle nobody talks about
@@mats7492and it’s not even an exaggeration like bands have literally said they worship the devil and approved the burning of churches along with murder, those guys are next level crazy
Satan!
Rotting Christ are some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Not all black metals bands are racist murderers.
What is going on in Norway that it has become such a breeding ground for black/death metal?
Criminal these churches are unique.
🇺🇸🇺🇦❤🤍💙💛
Punishment for burning something like that down should be death
While I don't agree with burning churches I do understand the hate towards christianity forced upon the scandinavian peoples.
What is there to understand in the 21st century, hundreds of years later? That religion was "forced" upon most people at some point, but with enough time gone by it doesnt matter anymore. As they say, some people just like to see things burn...
Yet they welcome Islam being forced upon them with open arms. They'll miss Christianity soon enough.
Ah yes, it's a sad time now that they can't sacrifice their children to their pagan gods any more.
In the book Lords of Chaos by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind, Varg Vikernes (the supposed church burner) states this: "...That was the 6th of June, and everyone linked it to Satanism, because of the 6-6 and it was on the 6th day of the week. What everyone overlooked was that on the 6th of June, year 793, in Lindisfarne in Britain was the site of the first known Viking raid in history, with Vikings from Hordaland... ...Nobody linked it to that -nobody. That church is built on holy ground, a natural circle and a stone horg [a heathen altar]. They planted a big cross on the top of the horg and built the church in the midst of the holy place..."
This kid was delusional and wanted to impose his personal views on what modern Norway should not be and reclaim it's pagan roots.
Wasn't it Varg and Euronymous from Mayhem that burnt this particular church? I think the reasoning was to gain publicity and the general dislike Varg had towards the Christian religion. Varg burnt down 3 other churches (I think) besides this one.
Varg was never convicted of burning down this one but he is a suspect, I don’t doubt it was him
Wow you are in Norway and so nice to show us some of that beautiful country.that church is amazing.
Cool video! I live in Aalesund and there is a church in Giske which is 10 minutes away from the town. It was built in the 1130s. You should check it out one time
Chris, there’s a replica, constructed in the same way, in rapid city, South Dakota. It’s called “Chapel in the Hills.” It’s been there since the late sixties.
Hi Chris beautiful church and architecture. Enjoy your trip stay safe
Beautiful woodwork, beautiful building. My house is almost all wood, but nothing like this, and a lot smaller!!. Have fun in Norway, and hopefully you will find more material. Thank you!!
Is that all wood inside? It’s beautiful!!! It’s beautiful inside and outside!!!
I have never visited Norway, but I did visit a Norwegian Stave Church on the west end of Rapid City, South Dakota! It's called "Chapel In The Hills"
If you have plans to go to Denmark meet up with UA-camr Anna’s Burning Desire.
Nice Video Chris
🎊🏵️🇮🇳🏵️🏵️
Any chance of some interaction with some Norwegian's?
Beautiful church
I could build the same thing. I built a picnic table last weekend .It rocks a little and one end is a little lower than the other. But other than that it's pretty nice!
could be a beautiful house to live in so cool
Sitani the clown owns that church😅
Oh wow,that is so spectacular🏯
Good video thanks.
So beautiful! 😊
Welcome to Norge 👍
There is one in Karpacz Poland it was moved to Germany from Norway in 18 hundreds and that part of Germany become Poland after WW2 it is amazing construction
VARG sends his regards 🔥
Varg is.a loser. So was the whole Black Metal scene. Thought everybody looked at them in awe, but all we saw was skinny idiots that couldn't handle life.
I was in Norway in the early 1970's and drove past those stave churches,
what remarkable construction.
Cheer's,
Rik Spector
That is amazing thank you so much. You are awesome Chris I am so thankful for your posts
Very cool. Love it. Thank you. 😊
Thank you, Chris! ❤
What is a "Stave Church"?
The walls are constructed of riven planks (staves) just like a wooden barrel.
@@jimurrata6785 Thanks, Jim!
Extremely awesome , what a fantastic structure , very KOOL 👍😎
Not going to lie. I first read that as "Slave Church in Norway". I'm sure I'm not the only one.
