Those highway mpg definitely shock me. I wonder whose soul Genesis sacrificed to get those numbers? The only luxury brand that are hitting high mpg numbers consistently in their cars are BMW. Just imagine the mpg number form this engine in other vehicles. The same can be applied to the upcoming Hyundai Sonata & Tucson N-Lines / Kia K5 & Sportage GT models.
@@JT-fq2bl right those cars will be much lighter and the GT and N-line will have the wet 8 speed DCT which is also more efficient at power transfer so I'm expecting great MPG numbers as well as wheel HP with the 2.5t!
There is no need for that! Genesis already is fine the way it is, they are even working on electric versions of G80 and GV70 according to Korean Car Blog! And btw. V8's are a dying breed! V6 twin-turbo is definitely enough!

Great review as usual. At 5:13, with the stopping test, how fast were you going? was it a stop from 100km/h to 0? If so, 135.4 ft seems like a long distance..as mercedes and everyone else in the segment do it much shorter..

Wow this Genesis G80 is magnificent exterior and interior. The features are wonderful, the transponder Key, or smart key with all those features should be on the top trim G70, of course the G80 and the G90 definitely soon to arrive GV80. This G80 still should have the optional V8. I would easily choose this over a Mercedes E Class BMW 5 series, Audi A6, Lexus ES. Thanks for another awesome review. I already drive a 2010 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 fully loaded still love it too this day reliability is a 10. I love how you drive these vehicles fast around the corners to show the viewers how these luxury vehicles handle the road. I have had my Genesis up to 120MPH on a straight road no traffic, it was feeling like, I was cruising at 80MPH car tops out at 155 MPH. Genesis just manufactures amazing vehicles in a class of their own.
I have been watching your channel since the 2021 announcement of the new genesis models. First I love your channel. I am wondering about the 3.5 mpg numbers though. In the us they are slashed by more than 7-10 mpg on highway. I am wondering if you were reporting the cars dash numbers or did a fuel pump test. Though I'm sure the US emissions is what kills the mpg over here. Thanks
Well, Greg. I think you have to wait and see for the numbers to come out for this Genesis G80 in the US. But this Genesis G80 returned quite respectable numbers on the highway, but no so great in the city. But overall i think it wasn't so bad for this sized sedan. Thanks Greg.

I love the new styling. It's like a cleaner design language that's more their own and cohesive instead of the mesh mash that the older one was. What I don't love is the drive selector. Seems like a waste of space and could be prone for confusion with the infotainment rotary touch controller. They could have just made it a smaller rotary dial (the same size to match the start/start button or slightly larger to differentiate) and put it next to the start/stop button.

I like everything about G80, except the steering wheel, and yes, I do agree about the reverse RPM gauge is awkward. I hope it has options to change, since all are computer controlled. For me this car reminds and feels like the continuation of the previous gen merc CLS. The cut & sculp of the g80 is really really impressive! Also that 3.5 is possibly quite potent for tuning based on the fact that it's most likely based of the 3.3TT genesis motor. Lap 3 tuning has a kit bringing it to 600whp (the 3.3TT)...

Well, Chris. I think they have some issues with Diesel engine cradle with GV80, but about the fire, it was just something got into the engine room causing fire. So, i think you guys will be fine. Thanks.

really love this car, Genesis is doing their thing. in this segment i think the E-Class and Audi A6 is the only competition and i love VW group but audi have really stiff handling sometimes the ride is too harsh

I chatted with a gentleman who had a G80 while we were both at the gas station. He said he'd had BMW's, and Mercedes and that the G80 was the best by far. He was very happy with it.

I love the new styling. It's like a cleaner design language that's more their own and cohesive instead of the mesh mash that the older one was. What I don't love is the drive selector. Seems like a waste of space and could be prone for confusion with the infotainment rotary touch controller. They could have just made it a smaller rotary dial (the same size to match the start/start button or slightly larger to differentiate) and put it next to the start/stop button.

I like everything about G80, except the steering wheel, and yes, I do agree about the reverse RPM gauge is awkward. I hope it has options to change, since all are computer controlled. I wonder how Genesis markets this car once it reaches the US, for Driver or Passenger. I wonder if the Sport edition will be available, because I'm a "Driver". -- "That steering wheel has to change!"

For me this car reminds and feels like the continuation of the previous gen merc CLS. The cut & sculp of the g80 is really really impressive! Also that 3.5 is possibly quite potent for tuning based on the fact that it's most likely based of the 3.3TT genesis motor. Lap 3 tuning has a kit bringing it to 600whp (the 3.3TT)...
What matters if no one over 5'8" can sit on the rear seats? Why include that big space unless it's usable.

Well, Chris. I think they have some issues with Diesel engine cradle with GV80, but about the fire, it was just something got into the engine room causing fire. So, i think you guys will be fine. Thanks.

Here in east Texas, only soccer moms drive SUVs, . Us motor heads here drive sports cars, they need to do something with the turbo model to boost hp and torch on the G sedans ! Love my 19 G80, but Genesis can tune better. Americans love HP
They're already working on it. The only G80 trims that aren't revealed at the moment is the G80 Sport (420-450hp) and eG80.
