Margo Thatcher -I don’t think he is any more “evil” than any career politician. The sociopaths that run the government are way more evil than Manson ever tried to be. Manson was nothing more than a result of the institutions and juvenile prisons systems he grew up in. That and having a pretty crummy upbringing from his so-called mother. He definitely was a “perfect storm” of his time. He had filled his head with all the necessary philosophies to control weak minded or emotionally damaged young people. It was the perfect time in American history and there were plenty of “throw-away” and run away teenagers and young adults that were all part of the “hippy” movement. They were all leaving home to travel to the west coast on some kind of quest to find themselves. They were easy pickins for a seasoned con-artist and master manipulator like Manson. He knew exactly why they ran away and what their problems must have been.
Had the same crimes happened in modern day Manson would never had gotten convicted or if he did his sentence wouldn’t be that long. He never should’ve been convicted in the 60’s in the first place but the “powers to be” wanted an end to the “peace&love” war-protestors generation and making hippies look like taking too much acid and psychedelics will result in middle American white kids going loco and murdering innocent people in the dead night.
Manson was nothing but a “patsy”. He was set up on a national scale. He wasn’t evil at all.

Charles Manson was a psychotic since childhood.
His Mother sold him to a barmaid at 6 months old for a pitcher of alcohol!
He endured being locked in a closet for days at a time.
When not in a closet he had to watch his Mother turning tricks for food, in the same bed.
His Mother was obviously unfit & no other family members would take on the role of caretakers for very long.
He was first sent to a reformatory school at age 6 and was serverly sexuality abused for years.
This man was horribly mentally ill and should have been in a mental institution for LIFE and studied.
Clearly mentally ill people, who are not fit to stand trial are still constantly ordered to stand trial and sentenced to death or thrown into the jail system forever.
It would reflect much better on us as a society to recognise, many, not all, who committed henile crimes are completely out of their minds and to study their upbringings and other circumstances.
Yes, there are monsters amongst us.....yet we have a society that creates them.
    Treat your children well.

Lisa Payne....I was thinking the same thing ! He sounds so genuine and normal for a few seconds, & then you remember who he is & what he did ! Like many psychopaths and sociopaths though, he did have that certain charm & charisma of the con man type that could make him appear normal at times, especially if you didn't know the deep darkness underneath the "pleasant" surface. Ted Bundy was another example of this.

@John Dough Beware the charmer young John Dough. One clue about Manson, he learned at a young age not to trust anyone...that's a hallmark of the narcopath but it is a trait that you would do well to adopt. Approach everyone with a critical mind. If you don't, one day, that 1 in 10 among the population, will see you from a mile away and suck you right in. Not everyone is a user but you need to be on your guard for those who are. Wisdom and discernment.

Maybe because Bundy was a psychopath i.e. more cool, calm, collected and strategic, he planned according to his objective and in court, his objective was to not go to prison so he played the role and manipulated accordingly. He was more predictable. While Manson was probably a sociopath, also strategic and manipulative but more prone to impulse, wrecklessness, angry outbursts, driven emotionally, gets off on scaring people, enjoys being seen as evil...More unpredictable.

Anyone who sees Charles Manson without accounting for the horrors he experienced as a little boy has no more humanity than any psychopath. Instead of empathy from a responsible juvenile criminal justice system, his pathology was compounded at a facility where he was sexually and psychologically abused. We know now that the cycle of abuse must be disrupted in order to prevent victims from becoming perpetrators. What a terrible lesson we fail to learn from when we treat minors as criminals.

Charlie Manson was neglected and horribly abused at a child. It is almost understandable why he turned out the way he did. The others have no excuse, they killed because they wanted to. I was a flower child back in the '60's, drugs, gurus, radical politics, free love, was everywhere. But even at 15 or 16 no one would ever have convinced me to do harm to anyone for any reason ever! They have no one but themselves to blame, they should have gotten the death penalty!

You know I remember exactly the fact that everyone wanted to put the prison authorities in prison because they committed the worst crime of all in knowing that Charles Manson would do what he told them he would do and they still let him out. He begged them to stay in prison and told them that he could not deal with the outside and that he would commit heinous crimes if let out. Authorities and parole personnel, knowing his prison life career, let him out. We were so angry at prison authorities almost moreso than we were at Manson because Manson was honest about it, telling them he was crazy and was not in control of his actions! Yes we blamed the prison authorities as well. I'll never forget that. I had just turned 18 in 1969 and related was Sharon Tate. I felt so close to her for some reason and only lived within a few miles of LA . I was married and had just given birth to my son and the nightmares flooded me for about a year after that.

This was 50 yrs ago this happened they are doing a movie called Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and its about the Manson murders Margot Robbie will play Sharon Tate and Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio will also be in it. I want to see this! Debra Tate who lost her sister Sharon Tate said that it was fine for Margot Robbie to play her sister Sharon. I want to see how they do this. The director is the same director who did Pulp Fiction. From Dusk Till Dawn. I can't wait for this movie and I have been interested in crime and Manson Murders. Sharon Tate was beautiful and she was only 26 when she died. Debra Tate will keep seeking justice for the victims of August 9 1969! It would be 50 years ago this happened. Charles Manson killed the 1960s and then in 2017 Charles Manson died. He is dead and now dancing with the Devil along with so many other sickos who hated society like the Columbine Killers Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold and they should make a movie about that Columbine. They killed 13 people and they did it on Hilter's Birthday which is creepy. So many more people who followed manson are still looking for answers about War that will come soon. So many weak minded people followed Charlie they would die for Charlie but Charles Manson didn't give a shit about his followers. They were just lost confused weak minded people who got themselves into this whole world of War between whites and blacks and Helter Skelter when it would start and they would be at the bottom pit. Everything out of Charlies Manson's mind is all jibberish and stupid. I am glad that asshole is dead and probably licking the devil's ass.

Krenwinkle and VanHouten will never get out! Would YOU wanna be that person that signs off on their parole? I wouldnt. Susan Atkins was a liar. She sure as hell did stab Sharon, she tried to make it look like it was all Tex. Kasabian was, heartless. I have no pity or a need to consider their backgrounds. I dont give a shit how broken the home, murder is murder and if drugs and murder was on the roster that day they participated with pure joy. I followed this whole case when I was 13 yrs old and still I get chills thinking of how terrified the victims were, especially Sharon because she was so maternal! I believe she was one of if not THE most beautiful woman of her time. I wish I could alter history and make sure that didnt happen and 911 and Pearl Harbor. There aee just some events that no human body EVER should go through!
