Cool idea... once again! Usefulness out of what would be waste for landfill(if not recycled in the 'normal' fashion). Good tutorial for those lacking ingenuity and needing step-by-step instruction... you should have been a teacher or professor my friend. Kudos, bravo!!
Great job 👍 thanks for sharing! Make sure you let it cook by itself for a while... before you add any food, to burn away the chemicals... * I would try to add some intake holes
I made a smoker/grill out of 2 rims. Bottom rim is 16" and top rim is 15". Built the stand frame out of scrap angle iron and black steel pipe for legs. Used perforated steel for bottom and top racks and a lid off a old smoker. Runs right around 180°-200°F
Awesome job for a small portable grill. Just to add to it, all you need is add a fire box to the side of it and a couple latches to the lid and you have yourself an indirect heated mini smoker!
Muy buen trabajo una parrilla practica y para 2 personas que deseen comer un buen asado pero CON CARNE ARGENTINA, bastante caro pero siempre sobran unos pesos para el asado y chorizos Argentinos. Saludos desde Formosa (Argentina)
Yes it would help. I am thinking of making one of these but a double decker for like a smake take with you little smoker. Idk. Might be sik and legit. But never know until you try it.
Nice grill but you should have heat cleaned it a time or two before grilling food. Also I agree with others that it needed a better grate for food..Otherwise nice job..
Yes with handles that meet and screw in legs 3 of them for stability on an uneven surface , also a bolt on flu and a twist vent on the side do it all packs up into itself including fuel to burn,, just z suggestion no hate 👍😊
Great Idea and invention, but is there something wrong with the hinges? Why so hard tro move and does not seem to close all the way? are they to tight or some weld got in them? with those I expected the lid to slam shut on its own.
Nice Sun shine reclamation there.........................should have taken your testing manifold and discharged the remaining pressure into a 5 gallon bucket of water and you could have been just like the pros.......wow! Suprised the EPA hasnt knocked down you door yet......but then again they might not give a crap! Great video!
Thats like a grill for one.. itd make a better lunch box.. or be a cool toolbox for your hvac stuff if you glued some foam in there and hollowed it out..
Greetings from Brazil! Try to rough the edge of the tank close to the hinges, as the lid will close better. Decrease the size of the grill to fit inside the grill.
EPA enters the chat... All refrigerants must be reclaimed before the tank is opened to the atmosphere and disposed of. Home and Gardens enters the chat... What a good re-purpose of an item that will be discarded. Please, no music next time.
Hi wonder if you can help , few years back my fridge freezer broke down and I ended up storing it outside to keep garden bits in .. I’ve recently moved and it’s ended up here, so we cut the metal from the back and there was a smell of nail polish remover which I’ve found out was the gas .. It was outside about an hour and then put in the shed . Do you think the gas will be completely out of it now or is there away to remove the gas to make it safer ?
What kind of welder and rods did you use? I have a bunch of these tanks, but someone said they are to thin, so you burn throufh them. I am not a good welder, so i would appreciate some feedback..briliant video. thank you!
what i was really hoping in the beginning that it was something new like making a padlock safe, or a mini faraday box to put phone walkie talkies, batteries and laptop idea, but when it was another bbq, all good though he still did a decent job,
This is funny, I worked at the place that made these cylinders, god knows how many we threw away (scraped) everyday. The funniest part is, that we also made portable grills at the same place. We made piggy-banks out of the cylinders if any of the workers wanted one. As a mater of fact, I still have one (same color blue) from 25 years ago when I worked there. lol.
Not to be a Negative Nancy, but I wonder if the cost of materials, electricity, and time were cheaper than just going to Lowes or some other vendor and buying one? I would also add that the grill makes it impossible to completely close the lid. If he had welded two angle pieces along the inside for the grill to rest on and then cut it to fit inside that would allow the lid to be closed fully. Then just weld a circular ring on the side of the lid with a movable ring to allow control of air being introduced into the grill.
or just sit around and pull yer pud watching people buy other peoples shit from storage eunuchs, I like the constructive criticism cause the ideas help for the next build, most people are all like this is what i woulda done, then do it there chiefy and lets see yours.

I'd suggest adding in a fiberglass sealing strip along the bottom half of the bbq, that way it will seal up, and less chance of someone cutting themselves on the rim.
If U cut at the corner of top and lower part to become as a hole after joining both the parts to keep the roster grill perfectly than the upper part can cover nicely and also the grill can remove easily and yes, haldle should be of wood. Although video is 👍👍👍
Thanks so much for the response, my wife is from Arkhànguelsk Russia, so guess it't cold by you now,,keep the videos coming and the flat bar roller bender, did you make it ?
I'm gonna be nice and give everyone a tip. Because time is very valuable, before watching any UA-cam video straight through, go look at the last minute and you might save yourself some valuable time!
Thanks for the video. I learned some things and I have five (5) of those tanks. I wanted to do some creative projects with them and this video gave me some great ideas. Thanks again.

Thank you for placing a lense over your camera while welding. most people do not do so and even though save for the eyesight it makes videos hard to watch at that point
Next time instead of doing all that sanding, get some " EASY - OFF OVEN CLEANER .spray the tank completely and let set for about 7 to 10 minutes, hose it off with water ( just DONT get any water spray on you ) This WILL remove any and all paint and rust and save a LOT of time. I have cleaned an engine block down to the bare metal doing this.

It looks quite good... But, i questioned whether/ it may- or may not-need some small holes within the bottom container for air intake?!
Yes it would help. I am thinking of making one of these but a double decker for like a smake take with you little smoker. Idk. Might be sik and legit. But never know until you try it.

Turned out nice. However, I have OCD!!! I would install trim around the cut to make the metal open and close onto a lip.
Awesome Idea!!! I have these laying around all the time. I`m going to have to make me one for next summer.
That's a great idea. I think I wana make one or 2. It makes me hungry to watch that man make one an then grilled meat

Love it .. But too much work to cook a burger .. Build a smoker out of propane tanks ... Plus how many of us have a welder
Nice. I just found an orange freon tank on the side of the road and was wondering what to do with it.
Great Idea and invention, but is there something wrong with the hinges? Why so hard tro move and does not seem to close all the way? are they to tight or some weld got in them? with those I expected the lid to slam shut on its own.
It doesn't close all of the way because the grate is laying over the edges.

A good and great idea. Thank you Mr. DK DIY.
Nice ideas ... but please, someone teach him to weld. Constant spot welds are crazy
Careful some refrigerants are explosive. Always look up MSDS sheets on all of these types of tanks. Grinding should always be done with care

this is more useful as a side smoke box, than a grill. or maybe a mini woodstove/heater.
