Im not even 3 minutes into this video, and this girl deserves to be a star more than half of the famous singers out there. So much talent. Thank you Michael for putting stuff like this out there.
Thanks for turning me on to her music. It’s bold, impactful, and deeply poignant. Great tone in her voice. Great arrangement by adding just enough strings to hit ya in the heart. Beautiful song. Beautiful song. You can’t help but to just be blown away into silence. It’s a great awe inspiring moment.
Man that's not even an overstatement. I don't typically indulge in this genre/style at all but this girl's voice is beautiful... the control ... the passion in her voice...😮
Mike I got to say, I appreciate you checking out new artists. Alot of the reaction/guitar channels only want to do the popular artists that are going to get them clicks, but it’s good to be able to discover new music through people like you. 👍🏼

Music like this can change you. Absolutely unbelievable. If heaven is half like this....
I am disappointed in my YT recommendations for me not already knowing about her. She's been around for a while, worked with some big names, and has done Paste/Tiny Desk (home)/ACL. This is like just hearing about Jason Isbell for the first time.
And they never good put on until the people voice their op union of them. And use word of mouth, then the radio loves to kiss their asses lol. Examples are Tyler Childers, Colter Wall
She's one of my absolute favorites. Brandi Carlile brought her on stage in Nashville a few years back, and I was instantly hooked. Going to see Katie here in Colorado a few weeks from now, and can't wait.
Katie opened for American Aquarium, twoish years ago. Walked into the venue with no idea who she was. I was less than 10 feet from the stage in a venue, not yet half full. She walked out onto that stage and changed my life. No lie. The best gift I've ever received from a stranger was BJ Barham introducing Katie to me. AA is easily one of my favorite bands, that night she owned the stage.
I met her and got a photo with her at the 2022 NC Brewers and Music Festival. She was so good and sang with so much emotion. I told her my daughter loves to sing and I really hope she can be like you some day writing her own songs.
@Guitargate - Michael P, the emotional response from you on most of your videos just keeps me coming back over and over. I discovered you with your “Hi Ren” reaction and have been coming back ever since. Keep letting the emotional response flow. Plus you give some great musical breakdown of these songs as well. You know who you are, please keep shining your light and showing your talent. Many, many blessings to you and your family.
Michael, once again thank you so much for opening my eyes to another fabulous performer. Your videos are a window into other worlds of music, and I am forever grateful for the visions.
You are so right. I've taught my children a lot of things and have learned a lot more from them. I have changed my mind about many things by seeing life from their perspectives. The world has changed quite a bit in my 70 years and we need to change with it. CS&N's 'Teach Your Children Well' comes to mind. Thank you for bringing Katie to my attention. Brilliant!
Radio needs to play this and more artists like Katie! I stumbled upon Abby Anderson a few months ago and she blew me away. Check out her backyard/acoustic recording of her song, "First to Hit the Road" as it is awesome. Katie's voice, musical style, and lyrical quality are top shelf! Michael P, thank you for this video!
I still listen to radio from time to time. I still have “Eight tracks and cassettes in stereo” to quote an old song. I find it strange that we went from mostly AM radio in the 1960s to buying $14 FM converters from Radio Shack in the late 70s, to CDs in the early 80s, and then almost overnight we all started streaming audio. What is next, neural audio importation?
@@rememberthis8795yea I have an old car with a CD player but I bought a converter that I plug my IPhone into and play music or listen to podcasts or audible. The radio and all the bs commercials are too much for me!
Exactly what I thought. There’s a lyrical richness beyond the normal banalities of pop music…and although their voices aren’t terribly similar, they both convey emotion in ways that cut to the marrow.
To see your eyes tear up priceless. Music can be absolutely beautiful. I had brain surgery three years ago I have seen things that without them being on tape or video/ pictures people wouldn’t believe me. My point, I get very emotional now when I hear a beautiful song. Michael, great review, incredible artist and never having heard of her before, I will be following her and her career from now on.
