I've had mine 15yrs now. Bigger brakes and - 35mm drop. Facelift front lights and nothing else. Love it. Used more of a second car now but makes me smile every time I use it
I had one of these in performance blue a few years back. Had a full cat back scorpion exhaust, Ram air induction kit with a cold air feed coming from the front passenger foglight housing & some H&R lowering springs.. Sounded & looked the bollocks! Not the fastest of its era, being shown up by the clio/ep3 of the time.. but good fun cars. One of the best looking "modern" fiestas I think.
Certainly a model that broke the mould. Mk3 / 4 / 5 were all quite similar in size and appearance whereas this was a drastic redesign, and they did a great job. Likewise with the Mk7 too. I always did love the boxy look of these, not too dissimilar to my Mk2 Focus RS.
Just changing the induction kit on these made a vast improvement for engine responsiveness. I always remember my dad driving it and saying it definetelly felt more nippy, 😂 It was a nippy car standard anyways expecially for the time. Loved it!!!
Had my st150 6 years now. It's been a very reliable car, which is what i need as its my daily drive. Still enjoy the ride every time i get in it. Simplicity is good with these. Less to go wrong
You can’t go wrong with- can still get the parts even if second hand, is nippy and can be modded so much can 7:14 go upto 205bhp with full remap, cams etc etc and feels solid
I enjoyed your video. I've owned my unmolested 2006 performance blue ST 150 for 10yrs.It's done just over 51,000 miles. Still love driving it. I will never sell it.
Hello Gary great to see another vid it brings back memories of a great little car. Like you say a bit overlooked by hot hatch snobs back in the day but now more highly regarded and a probable future classic. They’ve become popular as track day cars, I nearly bought one a few years ago and now wish I had! Look forward to the next one mate. 👍🏻
Thanks Mark - certainly potential for track use. Stripped out, lowered, proper low bucket seat and smaller steering wheel would make a big difference alone!
What a good review! I myself bought one of these three months ago just like yours a blue 2005 model. Totally stock, stock chassi, engine, everything, and in pretty good condition, not as good as this one but definitely fresh At first i thought about getting lowering springs and open air filter and less restrictive downpipe for it but then i realised its better to keep it in its original state, theres a value in that too :).
Wife has had one since December 2014. Such a fun car to hoon in. I love the low roll handling and bark from the engine when you get to 5000 rpm. I don’t think she will ever sell it as her previous car was a 205 GTI1.9 and we all know how those went up in value !!
got one of these in january as my second car and its perfect, picks up well in any gear and the handling is great really easy to tell where the weight is. looks the part aswell
😂 Never had a problem with mine and I had one for 15 years straight. Think some people are just heavy handed 😂 I looked after mine like it was my baby 😊
I'm owning a Fiesta in this gen as a daily (1.6 engine) for 6 years now, great chassis and being lightweight overall gives a lot of fun at low speeds. And on a highway it can go with max speed of 180km/h very stable 😃
Think I was one of first to buy one of these brand new back in the day. A 54 plate in this same colorado red. It felt amazing coming from a focus 1.6 😉 I traded it in for a face-lift version 12 months later in white with full stripes. I had that car for 15 years! The face-lift version had different front and rear lights, head unit, anologue temp and fuel guages instead of the digital ones in the pre face-lift. I much preferred the face-lift guages! Also you could buy a double din faceplate direct from ford to fit a aftermarket single din head unit and optional cd storage underneath it. The faceplate fitted perfect and looked standard with it being a ford oem part. Arrr memories 😊 Super reliable Car! Traded that in for a mk8 fiesta ST. I'm now driving a mk7 fiesta st modified to around 250. So I'm a big ford fiesta fan boy 😂 Hope they bring the fiesta ST back one day, we certainly had the best times for hot hatches in the 2000s.
Great video! These are cracking cars and have flown under the radar for a while, but I think their time is coming.... They never made an RS version, so this is the 'hottest' version of it's time, almost like the XR2 / RS TURBO of it's era.... Always had a soft spot for these and have been wanting to get a really nice, low mileage cherished example into stock for quite a while! Finally managed to get one like in the video (minus the white stripes) that's been really well looked after! So much so, I'm tempted to keep it myself and take it to shows like you mentioned in your video! Cheers, Oakwood Car Sales Ltd.
Hi there, thanks for watching. In all honesty if I were you I would keep hold of it - selling it won’t generate massive revenue for the business at the moment and I’m sure you’ll get a lot of enjoyment out of the car using it as you say for shows etc. They are quite a rare sight now in original condition too!😊

@@CarFocused yes seen your video mate lovely review you did. Previously had a heavily modified mk7 ST north of 350bhp and had the mk8 and 8.5st’s. Had this lovely ST200 come in to work on a PX and couldn’t resist. Lovely car and will be staying defiantly standard.
The engine was detuned for the fiesta and very under stressed, as an example replacing the flex pipe in the exhaust gives an instant 5 bhp, 1 of the many power restrictions on this engine
I always wanted one in Performance Blue when I was 18-19, just could never afford the insurance on it at the time - I got a standard ST150 as a stop gap between my Mk7.5 ST and my ordered Mk3 Focus RS at the time, I told myself I wouldn't mod it and spend money on it.... yeah that lasted all of about 5 minutes.. - they're epic little cars. Always had a thing for the original ST , I bought a 14 S in back in the 80s . I now have an Mk 3 ST focus.
A couple of years ago I was looking for a small funster as a bit of a toy. The mk6 ST was equal top of my list (with a Sukuki Swift Sport - another fizzer of a car), except that i decided i wanted a convertible. I still look at the ads occasionally and notice the price creeping up a little bit.
I missed the chance to buy an original one with only about 70K KM, first owner, now all of the available ones are either 200K+ or crazy expensive (there's one going for €25K), it's hard to find a good one here in the Netherlands
Good summary as all of your videos are. Nice example of the ST too. Personally I’d take an MG ZR 160 over the ST 150. A much misunderstood and overlooked underdog from the start of this era that delivers heaps of fun, liveliness and handling in a better looking and sounding package IMO. I say that as the current owner of the latest Fiesta ST and as an owner of a ZR for over 20 years both cars from new.
Thanks mate. Tbh the ZR has never really been a consideration for me - I’ve often overlooked them. They were nice looking cars though, just don’t see them on the road anymore!
I never had one of these but I do love um well cool 👌the last fiesta I had was 2000 zetec s 1.6 it wasn’t quick but it was a brilliant car I bought it 9 months old and kept it 4 years it never every let me down …wish I still had it
First Ford I owned was the fiesta st mk6 in blue just over 10 years ago, best car I owned at the time but new business forced sale as had to get myself a van. I would definitely own one again if I could find a minter like this👌
I had the pre facelift too and I remember thinking how weird the facelift lights looked when I first saw them. They did grow on me in the end though. It’s amazing how quickly Mk6 Fiestas in general are disappearing off the roads now!
Ford didn't seem to sell much of this model for some reason. And I'm not just talking about the ST. The Fiesta's that preceded it, and the bulbous one that took over, were all over the place.
This car is very good as it is but would be even better if it had: 1. A 6th gear 2 .An additional 30 hp. The chassi is excellent and can handle more than stock 150. The stock 150 is good enough but it dosent match the potential of the chassi unfortunately. 180 hp would be a good combo between performance and driveability.
I have one in frozen white. Love how they look and handle, but I just can’t get on with the seating position, like you say you sit WAY too high. Only way I can manage is the seat reclined back, then your arms are far from the wheel and gearstick. It sucks. I’m 6’2 too so it’s even worse lol. No idea what to do as there doesn’t seem to be any seat options that fit in, I’d love to get a seat that is a fair bit lower, because apart from that they’re a great daily/fun/reliable/nice looking cars, future classic I think
It’s quite annoying isn’t it - someone in the comments here mentioned fitting. VXR Recaro seats with different frames (OMP I think) - wouldn’t be cheap though I’d imagine!
My dad had one of these 6 months old with 5k miles on the clock and paid UNDER £10k! This shows how ridiculous pricing of cars has gotten over the last decade. The only thing these cars need is a 6th gear imo, the ratios are so short feels like your revving the tits off it on the motorway
There is one solution for this. Previous owner of my fiesta did some modifications to gearbox, he took out the 5th gear from 1.6 diesel fiesta and put it in st. This gives you about 500rpm less on 5th gear
@ does it take near enough mo effort to push the clutch in? And have a pretty high biting point too? Took one a drive yesterday. He said it’s always been like that since he’s owned it for the 7years
Had a black 2005 no decals from new, waited 4 months for delivery. Great fun to drive with original Pirellis but they were expensive rubber to replace even in those days and big 2 doors not very supermarket friendly. Shame the modern Ecoboost variants were such a disaster. Renamed Ecoboom for good reason.
I've got the pre facelift version on a 2005 plate in red. I've had it 3 years now and I'd never sell it. Such a fun car to drive. Goes around corners like it's on rails. I'd sell my audi before my st
No eco mode, not a lot around town, it's a 2 litre petrol, so you can literally watch your fuel gauge go down. On a run, it says on the dash, about 40mpg, which is about right. I commuted from Sheffield to York and back every day from march 2019 to march 2020 and it used to cost me £20 a day in fuel which was half a tank and 128 mile round trip. If I kept at 65 to 68 mph it was better, over 70 it guzzled fuel, they way over rev on a motorway, badly needed a 6th gear, but right for it's time. Its about £50 to Scarborough and back now and the road tax last year was £320 for the year, £320! On a plus my insurance has dropped from £650 to £450 for the year. In all honesty? Ultra reliable go cart, but I'd swap it for a golf 2.0 TDI GT 140 brake blue motion 6 speed tomorrow 👍
I had the zetec s tdci and think that was the better option. Light alloy diesel lump, torque, 60mpg and the same chassis etc. it was a delight and I’d have another I think. Whisper it but it was the daddy of diesel warm hatches because of the handling. I know what you mean about the seating which was the big let down. I think the seat base only tilted from the middle which was pretty awful body mechanics.
@@CarFocused can’t stress how different it was to the fabia vrs tdi. That was heavy and lumbering whereas the tdci zetec s felt quite darty and agile. I would like to drive one with a decent tune as they were only 90bhp I think.
You're spot on about the FN2 which is a car I own, but I also bought one of these because I fell in love with it driving a bog standard version. They're both fantastic drivers cars. I would recommend pick one up before the prices go up. You can get a decent one for about £2k what else can give you that much reliable laughs for that money. Dive in brother !
Thanks for the video, very informative! Quick question, I'm currently deciding between a Fiesta ST150 and a Mondeo ST220 to buy as a first car. Which one would you recommend? I leaning towords the Mondeo.
late one as well, 58 reg. and when you talk about the 05 reg one, you mean 05 plate, not 2005 plate. a 2005 car can be on a 54 (January/February), 05 (March-August) or 55 (September-December).
Are you sure thats an ST and not a fiests thats been made to look like an ST as ST's do not have 5 speed gearbox they have 6 speed as a mate of mine had an ST and it was 6 Speed

Traded one of these in for a mk3 focus ST for £1000. Wish I had kept it now 🙈 loved that car on a B road.
What sort of mpg do these get? Eco driving?
These were popular cars weren’t they. Can’t grumble at all with that MPG and basically the same looks as the ST!
@@CarFocused can’t stress how different it was to the fabia vrs tdi. That was heavy and lumbering whereas the tdci zetec s felt quite darty and agile. I would like to drive one with a decent tune as they were only 90bhp I think.
Best bang for buck is an FN2 - 200hp, unreal chassis, hooks up on the b road corner like a go kart. That said love these wee 150s
Pity Vauxhall trumped it with the Corsa VXR (being turbo charged), of course in 2013 Ford took the crown back with the ST180.
As you know the ST180 was and still is hard to beat 👌🏻
Thanks for the video, very informative! Quick question, I'm currently deciding between a Fiesta ST150 and a Mondeo ST220 to buy as a first car. Which one would you recommend? I leaning towords the Mondeo.
I’d say the Fez as it’ll be more rewarding and fun I think but ultimately it’s down to you!
late one as well, 58 reg.
and when you talk about the 05 reg one, you mean 05 plate, not 2005 plate. a 2005 car can be on a 54 (January/February), 05 (March-August) or 55 (September-December).
Can find them on 09 plate aswell
I had a 2006 in blue had a dreamscience remap on it, and it still wouldn't pull the skin of a rice pudding
Haha yes they do feel slow by today’s standards!
What do you expect? It’s a naturally aspirated hot hatch, not a McLaren
@@deathtozionism7111 wow, really I hadn’t noticed that, my bad.
@@deathtozionism7111it was still quite slow in relation to its N/A powered competitors. Great car though!
So you've not driven a modded st150? More than welcome to drive mine and compare the 2.
Mines stage 2 183bhp. Moondust silver and super sexy. Brap.
Nah mate never driven a modded one. I had a Mk7 (MP215) but my Mk6 was bog standard in terms of power 😬
What’s with the funeral/wake music at the start? Would’ve been better without in my opinion. Not hate. Just suggestion. Great vid.
Dunno it was just chilled haha so stuck it on.
Are you sure thats an ST and not a fiests thats been made to look like an ST as ST's do not have 5 speed gearbox they have 6 speed as a mate of mine had an ST and it was 6 Speed
The MK6 Fiesta ST150 has a 5 speed gearbox mate. The ST180 is a 6 speed.
Great mate have you lost weight 😊
Yes mate 2 stone over the last 2 years - lots of running 😁
@@CarFocused good man
They defo needed a 6th gear! Great car though...
Agreed!
Episode 2: A modified one
Not a bad shout to be fair!
@@CarFocusedWill be fun to see your take, go for 185-200bhp and lowered
Just subscribed. Great channel mate . I have a 58 reg in Colorado red but with all the mods . Mountune stage 1 , Miltec exhaust, Lowering springs , K&N intake and Cruise TK7 wheels and Toyo Tires . Mine has the black ST side stripes but exact same interior but alcantara on the steering wheel. Would love to see what you think of the modified car .👍
Yea would make for an interesting comparison 👍🏻👍🏻
