So i was watching and listening to other Anglers. Mike Ioconelli has a couple of very good Winter fishing videos, well worth the watch. José Cifuentes won the Bass Masters Elite four months ago, fishing a horizontal jig in a Finesse manner. He sat over fallen logs about 24 feet deep and fished very slowly to win. He said often he might see no fish until one came up for his lure, then the other fish would come up off the wood! Ioconelli says Sloooowwwly. Im not giving you advice because i know nothing but these guys know of what they speak. Good luck next winter!
I don’t fish but I’m a lake lover from SoCal. These videos are so beautiful and calming to me. If I’m feeling a bit anxious I go for Greg’s videos 😊👍🏼💯
I really need to make a couple week fishing trip to California...Yall have some beautiful water out there! It looks nothing like what I'm used to fishing...Awesome video and I'm ready for the next one already! lol
@Greg Blanchard I'm gonna buy a new boat this summer so maybe this is the year! I live in North Carolina so it's quite a long drive...I'm hoping I can get my brother to take a couple weeks off and go with me!
Another great video. My best fish at New Melones was at the large standing trees you were fishing, but I had to send a jig straight down next to the tree to catch it. They were hugging the trunk. Its just a little bit warmer next to that wood when the sun hits it.
Greg Epic bro. I'm glad you tried a completely new lake. Hopefully you'll do a few more of those trips. I enjoy planning a day, where i've never been. Beautiful fish you caught. I've never seen that many fish, in one lake with scars like that? But they're survivors. 🎣 🛶 🌊
After decades of fishing, I can tell you, without a doubt, the most enjoyable stops along a lake shore have been those spots that my gut says, "Hey....look at that spot over there" and I stop and fish it and usually it is worth my while and many times those "unplanned stops" actually make the trip! Thanks for sharing!
@@tims_always_fishing7117 I got a new rod line up from Witch Doctor Tackle, joined their pro staff last month. Super high quality rods for every situation you could imagine. For reels I’ll be using my reels I got last year from Ardent, I’m on their pro staff as well. They have the best pro staff deal available and a three year warranty. I abused the heck out of them last year and no problems. The grand and elite baitcasters from them are very nice.
I fished it Feb 4th & it was a solid day fishing. Had a few swim bait bites, finesse & I even heard too water was a go too. Fished mostly trees & rock walls. It was a great day
Greg, awesome vid bro! I'm glad I can fish through you, in the winter months. You're an orig New Englander, lol. So you know, how our winters can be. Adding some new accessories, and other gear to my kayak, watching a GB Vid. Can't beat that! 🎣 🌊 🙏
Your a beast Greg. Love watching your videos man! I live 5 minutes from bass lake and am going to try to put some of your tactics to use. As always thanks for the great content and fishing tips! 🍻
Nice day and nice job Greg , you got the skunk out of the boat early and had a good day. It's weird how you were using moving baits but the fish were cold. Usually when there cold there kinda sluggish ya know and not wanting to chase baits. Good day though and thanks for the video.
Kinda surprised I don't see you throwing a lipless a little more this time of year.Maybe the sticks would be a problem, but I always have a red lipless tied on til spawn.Relaxing video, enjoyed it 👍
Our lake has areas with cover under water now & I haven’t caught anything but I can see they have moved into the areas that are newly under water now where there’s lots of cover. They weren’t jumping but chasing bait fish around.
Haven’t been there since this summer and I don’t even recognize the lake at all! Looks so different because of water level and now it’s green. Awesome video man, I went to Camanche yesterday caught a couple decent ones but there was a tournament and it was super tough. Decided to troll for trout and got four big ones.
@@GregBlanchardFishing there is a great kayak launch in Cherry Creek so you don’t need to launch in the main lake and burn your battery getting back to the lake arms. Have fun.
Man you got me itching to get on the water. I haven't had time to fish in a year I went fishing on the intercoastal in Florida last year and that was the first time on the water since 2018 wow I guess I haven't picked up my bass rods since 2018 that's kind of sad. Hopefully I'm about to change careers and fix that problem though. Plus my father in-law gave me a guided trip for lake chickamauga that I am going to take this year.
Next time you go to new Melones if you go past Tuttle town a little and before you reach the bridge you make that right. It’ll take you down to the water which is called the “free side”, don’t have to pay entrance fee. There is a little launch there perfect for kayaks. Saves a lot of time if you’re going to be fishing around that area anyway. Just a heads up they lock up that gate to go in there around sunset, they also don’t open it til sunrise.
new to kayaking. Thanks to you lol, do you were waders with built in boots or ??? trying to find something comfortable to were n stay DRY and warm ....thanks
Hello Greg just wondering what type and lbs test are you using on your jig rod. Thanks for the great videos over the years, I started tournament fishing because of them.
Thanks for the great content, as always Greg. What shoes/boots are those that you use? I saw in a previous video O jumped on that bandwagon too. EDIT- I looked in the description and found my answer lol!
Greg what socks do you wear under the boots to keep your feet warm? I've got the same pair from your recommendation, they're great. Last trip when it was 30 out my feet got insanely cold though lmao not trying to pedal around with numb feet if possible. Thanks!
I started kayak fishing last year and I have wondered about some of the nuances between boat/kayak tournament fishing. You mentioned 'good for a kayak tournament', but bad for a 'boat tournament'. Will you please elaborate on that? Is it because there are more people doing boat fishing tournaments? Or is there a different reason?
I think it is because the fish was long, but not very heavy. Kayak tourneys go by total length of best 5 fish, whereas boat tourneys go by heaviest 5 fish.
Wow you're so cool, I'll have Greg send you some stickers to put on your helmet and a box of crayons along with a fresh coloring book. Just for being a special wittle guy.
Thanks to a cold and wet winter in NorCal, we've been huddled inside and discovered GB. Fast forward 3 weeks, almost every video and now we have better weather and 2 new Slayer 10 Max's sitting in the driveway ready to head out. GB- what is that rack you have your 10s on, I must know!?!?!?!
Watching Greg’s old vids and get a notification a new one is posted 😂😂

I hit Melones last week. Every cove had fish loaded in the bottom of the troughs right over brush or tree tops

Love the scenery there
Is this the lazy days of winter? I fish on ice this time of year and this episode felt like a lazy summer day. Nice and relaxing vid.
The underspin is my wife’s favorite lure, she has caught quite a few nice fish on them over the years
Can't wait to see what you do at Oroville! Good luck! Greg!
