Hell yes, Checkmate 💯
He had this beautiful, talented, amazing wife and he threw it all for some girl he didn't even know. His death was not surprising. He didn't believe his wife and now she has become the monster she tried so hard to stop.
I agree, Trevor got what he deserved, he did her so wrong, he left her when she needed him most. The most sad part about this, is that he was seeing this woman behind her back even before this stuff started happening to Helen. Helen was a amazing woman and he was supposed to be by her side and he played her and left her all alone.
nickdaman23 And he knew Helen was innocent and he lied to the police. He wanted to get rid of Helen:(

Yes. And now he betrayed Helen for a poor substitution and faces his regret.
Trevor had to move on, There was no way for Helen to prove her innocence of murdering people. Helen loved Bernadette, So Trevor believed she was capable of killing him also.
She got her payback at the end with that hook

@@kar5431 What are you talking about? He was cheating on her the whole time, even by the beginning of the movie.
You’re acting as if Helen was out of the picture for years and years.
I love that Helen repeats a line she said to Trevor earlier in the film. This ending is awesome!.
But why she became devil ?! Then she's died like a holy woman ?
Because she saved the little babý who was dumped into the bonfire, but something changed when Trevor said her name in front of the mirror, turning Helen into a vengeful spirit......at least that´s my personal theory.
@@matteoantonelli9302 she submitted to candy man
She went from using it to scare Trevor and Stacey when they thought she was a murderer to saying it before she killed Trevor after she became an urban legend herself.
I'm only doing this as a reply to the OP because I am not @'ing the three users above me and addressing all of them. The entire point of Candyman is that he is powered by belief. Any wane on that belief is what causes him to kill, because if everyone stopped believing in him, he'd disappear for good. Although Helen summoned him through the mirror, he didn't make his presence known until she not only doubted him, but tried to convince others he wasn't real. However rather than kill her outright, he planned on making her an immortal spirit of vengeance powered by the same belief. In order to do this, much like how his own reputation and life was ruined, he had to ruin hers. Make people think she was an insane killer, then put her in a situation where she had to come to him willingly. Kidnapping Anthony so he can lure her, initiate her, then kill her when he felt the time was right. While the residents of Cabrini Green hailed her a hero for dying, saving Anthony from Candyman, everyone outside Cabrini Green does not believe the story and as a result of them viewing her as this insane dog mutilating, child snatching serial killer, it instilled a new legend, which created her vengeful spirit. She killed Trevor, both in revenge and to establish herself as the new ghost story. She's not the real Helen though, just like Candyman isn't the real Daniel Robitaille. They are both vengeance fulled tulpa entities, based on the beliefs of the people. Cabrini Green believing in Candyman and the rest of the world believing Helen to be the killer she is.
She knows that his wife just died and she’s acting annoyed that he’s grieving and needs a little space. Way to pickem trevor.

@@tonnymitch4016 And even suggests Trevor help make the salad and then just rolls her eyes when he says he will be out in a minute. Helen clearly was able to do it all on her own and never needed any help
Perfect ending for this movie. It was only after Helen was gone that Trevor realized just how much she meant to him. At least he got to see her again... right before she gutted him to death. Now that's what I call "Til death do us part."
The saying goes "You never know what you have until it's gone"

I loved this ending! Trevor got what he deserved and Stacey probably took the fall for the murder. It was satisfying asf to watch the first time I saw it and still satisfying now.
Yeah what goes around comes back around.
"Stacey probably took the fall for the murder."
Why exactly? There's no evidence pointing towards Stacy and no murder weapon (they would almost immediately find out that he wasn't killed by knife). Also if you look closely there's one major thing that would tell cops that Stacy is innocent: The murderer was right handed while Stacy is left handed.
Also she doesn't have a drop of blood on her
@@theeverchosen1504 Give the fact that as far as they know she was the only one in the house at the time, she would still be the prime suspect. What is she going to tell them? Props to Carolyn Lowery (Trevor's gf) for that chilling scream that puts an end to one of the best horror movies.
Seeing the ending of the sequel and coming back to this, clears everything up. Helen returning as a vengeful spirit is much like what happened to Sherman in the 70s and to Anthony in the here and now, that's where Daniel draws his power by reinforcing his legend in every generation.
@Fillip mcgee Helen,Daniel, Sherman, and all the others basically become part of the congregation that Daniel leads as the leader. In each form of the generation his name will be mentioned as well as the new victims. When Daniel tells Helen to be my victim. It's basically the initiative to make you out to be the new face of vengeance. Your name will keep his name alive. It's like Daniel hires you to become the new member of the Beehive. A tortured soul revived in the afterlife as a killer returned.
@Fillip mcgeeNot Demonic, It's more like a curse for the chosen victims that experienced wrongful deaths.
I think it's more that she stole his thunder in this one. Sherman & the others were pawns. Helen dying in the fire would be seen as a woman who went mad due to the candyman mythos and build his strength. She fought back and showed the congregation that candyman was real but defeatable yet still took on a vengeful spirit mantle.
She still forgot to close the fridge.
Such a satisfying yet terrifying ending... That Helen jump scare when she showed up still remains to be the only horror movie scare that made me scream.
Yeah, it's not some return of the old villain. Not counting the sequels but her doing what she wanted to do and left. Ended on just a right note.
Trevor's death noise is disgusting and very well done. I always thought it was scary to hear him die as a kid

to be fair i think this would have been the only Death Helen would do considering she got Wronged By Trevor only, everyone else though became respectful of her of what she did, gave her a proper funeral and legendized her as an all good being. Trevor was the one who really fucked up
Daniel robitaille was wronged too in life and yet as Candyman he has no qualms killing innocent people to keep the legend going. Helen just happened to be the new on the job on that one.
Trevor was extra dumb because he actually bothered to call her in the mirror.
Dude was having a breakdown
What Dave West said...
My guess is he wanted to die
He didn't know dumbasses
I think he wanted to die again
Kinda looked like he wanted that to happen. It's hard to believe dude accidentally facilitated all the right conditions ( saying her name the exact right number of times, turning the lights off) for that to happen accidentally. I'd say his guilt and missing his wife got the best of him and he wanted to go
Never thought of this, but you are absolutely correct!
Honestly it reminds Me of the ending of the 1989 Pet Sematary Film, when Louis Creed Buries Rachael in the Micmac Grounds, what seems to be a wish for His Wife to come back is actually the wish for Death

I didn’t expect Helen to become part of the folklore legend
One of the most greatest, iconic, and memorable twist endings in horror cinema. To this day it still gives me chills and goosebumps as I sit in complete shock and silence as I'm trying to comprehend what just happened. It never gets old. 😍😎💯👍😏😰😱
You know I understand why a man would cheat when his wife was suspicious of murder (which I still don’t think is right if you’re still married and haven’t discussed things on the matter face to face), but in all honesty I still don’t understand why Trevor went with Stacey.
Helen is literally better than her at everything. She was a better cook, she was courageous, she didn’t scream your ear off, had a strong backbone yet was caring and sweet, hell she was even better looking!
Trevor, man... I’d say you could do better, but... you already had that before.
Takeshi Kujo-Helen's husband had been cheating on her long before she was accused of murdering Bernadette, & even if she really had killed her best friend that didn't give him the right to have an affair behind Helen's back & move his bit on the side into Helen's apartment almost immediately after Helen was arrested. Besides he should have believed in his wifes innocence, after all Bernadette was killed with a hook not a knife so there was no evidence against her, if the police & Helen's husband hadn't been so willing to just believe Helen did it & really looked at the facts they'd have easily seen it couldn't have been her. Her husband had been married to her long enough to know she wasn't the kind of person capable of harming or brutally murdering her own best friend like that.
He was cheating on her even before that
This is such a satisfying ending. As someone feeling much like Helen did, I immediately came to watch this clip.

One of the best horror movie endings of all time! It was always you Helen
Soon as he kept saying her name more than twice, I got *REALLY* excited!
Now that's what I call a satisfactory shock ending. Trevor gets his just desserts and Helen gets to begin her own legend. Satisfaction
After the new one, the climax and ending of the original "Candyman" now has this dark and hopeless shadow lingering over it.
Helen sacrifices her life to protect Baby Anthony from the Candyman and the residents of Cabrini-Green swear never to invoke his name or legend and for what? As an adult, Anthony still returns to Cabrini and becomes psychologically beaten and physically disfigured and mutilated before getting gunned down by the police who choose to shoot first rather than properly defuse the situation because one resident WANTS the Candyman legend to survive and evolve with the times. Everything Helen and Anne-Marie did to protect him was ultimately for nothing.
Helen had so much Potential in Candyman 2 but they went a different route... Imagine a Candyman and a Candygirl
she's coming back in the next movie but she'll be played by a different actress
There really wasn't a reason for her to be in Candyman 2, since she killed the only person who she actually wanted to go after.
@@VirginiaDowdy777821 it's because she became the new Legend. The entire point of the story in the first place was that Candyman was fuelled by belief. The Helen you see is not the real Helen. She's a tulpa just like Candyman who is fuelled by the belief that the real Helen is a dog killing baby snatching serial killer who got what she deserved in the fire. With only the residents of Cabrini-Green knowing the truth. The only reason why she hadn't showed up after the other movies other than Virginia Madsen not being available was because no one bothered to say her name five times in the mirror.

Same here
Same. I remember my cousin told me about this movie, but i never really watched. I've seen Child Play, Halloween, Friday 13 and etc. They all used to scare me. Even gave me nightmares. But that was kinda fun.
One day- about 1998- i was back from a trip and this film was on the tv. My mother and father were sleeping and i layed on the couch like : "shit. This is the movie that my cousing was talking about!"
At first i didn't understood. Candyman was not scary or ugly. But as the movie progressed, i started to feel something i've never felt before: melancholy. I felt really bad for Helen and the way this creepy ghost was torturing her mentally. When the end came i was shocked and almost in tears: the heroin burned to death? What?
And then this scene happened. What i felt was not fear in the classic fun way. What i felt was pure dread. I was unable to sleep or move and had a terrible day in school on the following day.
I had never seen a movie where the "heroin" dies and appears again as a horrible and tormented ghost. That really fucked me up.
Everytime i was in the dark, her image came to my mind.
Originally in the script it ends with Helen whispering 'Out of the eater came forth meat, Out of the strong came forth sweetness...I came for your"
