Incredibly true. I'm a psychologist with 11 years of experience working with people from all over the world, and all of this stuff is spot on. It's also been my experience that about 90% of all the problems we have come from being stuck in our faulty childhood and cultural conditioning / programming, which we never consciously chose, and continuing to deceive ourselves about our worth, skills and lovability. Once we stop lying to ourselves and face the hard truths about our lives, we empower and free ourselves from wasting our one and only life completely lost in auto pilot and self-deception
Watch your thoughts because your thoughts are forming your words. Be careful about your words because your words are shaping your actions. Take care of what kind of actions you are doing because they are shaping your habits. Be careful about what kind of habits you have because they are shaping your character. Be careful what kind of character you are cultivating because it shapes your destiny.
It's also important to me not to accept things, no matter how helpful they seem, but to notice them. That makes it more flexible for me. And you can't accidentally trip yourself up because the right conclusions weren't that helpful after all.
ps. By accepting certain emotional sentences, I artificially inflated my fears for a long time. Because even though it makes sense where my fear came from, this acceptance (belief in it) was still left over from the fear, no matter how well I learned to get along with it or get away from it.
It is so interesting some of the similarities between Buddhism and Stoicism. Do not place your happiness in external things. Avoid complaints/negative thoughts as this controls your actions. Fantastic episode.
Oh my how true is the statement, "It's action that can start a change". I have struggled a lot since my illness of bacterial meningitis and the death of my Mum. Had a melt down and left my job as a result. I've watched many pod casts by Dr Chatterjee and Master Shi Heng Li. Started reading books by Gabor Mate. Gone to therapy and took up a Martial Art. Wow! I've just had the best week I have had in many months. Something switched inside my mind and I feel much better for making a few changes. I feel so good I've gone back to work on less hours to give myself a better balance. I love this conversation, thank you ❤
Try anything once. If it works for you, then continue. I have my morning routine and it works for me. Keeping me healthy and filled with joy for my life. I like to listen to Chinese singers and dance with the music. For me it is the right rhythm and tones. As soon as you wakeup in the morning, look around and smile, you have another beautiful day to refill your cup with whatever you want. Forget anger, hate, saddness and all the other negative emotions . Start you day of with getting all you joints and blood following to keep you healthy.
What is not mentioned is that you first must get rid of any shame you feel for "not doing the things". You must be equanimious towards yourself. Otherwise, you will be not just dealing with entrenched habits, but a mind that is telling you that you cannot ever "make up" for all the times you did not do the things. This is the essence of "live in the moment". Responsibility is not blame.
That is interesting. I say I cannot make up for what I have not done. I can do now, that which I can do. For instance. I can draw. I have not in a long time. I will not draw twenty thousand pictures to make up for those drawings I never made. I simply start drawing again.
Buddhism rocks and I am enjoying it. I would like to search for Bodhidharma's Indian village. I am a freelance researcher in Bihar in India where the Buddha moved around. I realize the Buddhist world failed to study and recognize Indian Buddhism in India. Buddhism in eastern UP and Bihar in India is alive and kicking. Sir, I have some good news. Day before yesterday I videographed the Vimalakirti's temple which marks the spot where he preached when he was sick, I videographed Kotigama where the Buddha would stay, I videographed Amrapali's property. Sir, she was stinking rich. She was the owner of ten sq km of land which she got through her profession. I videographed the place where her musicians lived, where she lived, where the Buddha's foster mother Maha Prajapati Gautami lived. And to top it all I videographed the exact spot where she attained Parinirvana. Locals pray to her as a village deity and they maintain the place where she died. It is a lovely temple with no statues or pictures of God. There were five tiny stupas on the spot she attained Parinirvana. I will be releasing the videos in my channel in a few days. If I can find Maha Prajapati Gautamies Parinirvana spot, I am confident I can find Bodhidharma of the Shaolin fame.
I appreciate how Dr Chatterjee recognizes how the messaging online are constantly contradicting each other, and people are outsourcing their own inner expertise to other people. I’ve suffered and felt the most lost in life from thinking I’ve found the answer from UA-cam gurus only to realize I’ve stopped hearing myself. Shi Heng Yi is one of the few people I still listen to online.
I'm surprised that people think it would be any other way. We are supposed to have people working in scientific fields that have different theories. I don't know why people expect scientists to all have the same theories. That would be odd. Pretty sure by default scientists/researchers SHOULD contradict eachother. Far too many variables in humans to just buy into one theory.

Structure and organization, even if that means restriction, are vital to figuring out your life's direction. I've found that making small, enjoyable, attainable goals and working towards them daily work best. There is great satisfaction found in such creativity. And THEN you can raise the bar if you want. I like the set meal times. You sit down and savor the food. You are grateful for it. Indeed, gratitude resonates much higher than even love. It's where the universe blesses us time and time again.

“Be grateful for the possibility…” I can get behind this. Its so hard to be grateful when everything that matters to me is falling apart; people I love have died or are dying, job loss, betrayals from people that said they loved me, my health isn’t good anymore, etc. I do have things to be grateful for but its so hard when theres no more point to any of it as it all comes crashing down. I can try to hope for the best even though its likely getting worse from here since 2019 no time to breath its one horrific thing after another….I will probably die young I can’t keep pushing and I can’t be everything to other people when I have no one to support me and my life is in shambles. There is a slight possibility that something good will come of it. Its hard to accept that this is my life now. I literally stare at the wall in silence and complete disbelief. It broke me. Then I tried to put myself back together and then something else broke me and it keeps coming. No end in sight. Nothing seems worth it anymore.
This master is a sage 💡 My takeaways: ✅ Control your mind 🧠 for your good health ✅ Leave attachments behind ✅ Structure is important (for example: eat only 3x a day and on schedule) ✅ A healthy physical body is a bridge to a healthy mind ✅ Actions are more important than wisdom Thank you, Dr. Chatterjee, for guesting him! You both are amazing 🤩
Wonderful conversation and so much to think about that makes total sense. I feel I need to stop...reboot my life...and live with more self awareness in order to fully realise this precious gift of our life. 🙏🙏
Watching from Myanmar. Today a monk from Bhutan contacted me and your video just appeared. I love how everything I wish for appears. I make videos in Myanmar on life here in a Bhuddist land. If you stay true to your path and listen to the call all will unfold for you
Knowledge is power. For example, taking fasting as an example: Understanding the ins and outs of fasting arms you appropriately both to understand why it might be useful (e.g. blood sugar control, authophagy) and how to approach it if it is not part of your routine so you have the best possible experience. Healthy body - healthy mind
I love the examples that you used throughout the conversation, master Shi Heng Yi. I learned many things from this clip. I hope I’ll be able to apply some of these principles into my life. I also love the questions that you asked the master, Dr. Chatterjee. My favorite question was if the goal was to train the mind, why does the master trained his body so well. And as how things reflected at the end of the conversation, the master recommendation was to start with action. Just do it. Don’t think to much. I love that. Thank you!!!
As a complicated person and witty Armenian I ask myself everytime I watch Shifu what if the whole my world and surroundings are Shaoline so to say? The answer is so clear...
Change your mindset and you can change your life. Conquer your fears and you’ll be fearless. Learn to accept things you cannot accept. And be fully aware of too much of a heavy load can break the camels back and get the camel unalived.
My key takeaways: 1. Everytime you attach yourself to anything or anyone, it makes you heavy, immovable. 2. Take action. Stop the overthinking which doesn't change anything. 3. You cannot change other people. Either you change yourself or you leave the situation before your physical wellbeing suffers. 4. Don't hurt anyone with not just your actions but with your thoughts. 5. We have created a bubble within ourselves from which we derive our happiness from, our job, our family, our title, external things. What happens when the bubble bursts? 6.With restriction, comes growth. 7. Start your day with paying attention to your body, instead of your external environment. 8. Be grateful for this life. 9. "When it comes to teachings, I am not there to make you feel comfortable. In my vision, I give you what you need in order to grow. I will place a limit in your life right now. That means, if you have a problem with eating only 3 times per day, well, we will limit it to even 2 times per day. Until you are faced with so much limitation of yours, that you start to break free form it.".......These are some of the things that resonated with me.
Last question, the world is now crazy. We need someone with wisdom, structure, guidance and teaching, that helps civilisation bring common sense back into our learning and life that humanity has lost, in order to move on. And a good place to start would be with Master Shi Heng Yi ❤️🙏
This was one of the best conversations I have seen on the internet. Such beautiful wisdom with so much clarity I loved every second of it. Thank you Rangan for sharing! And thank you Master Shi Heng Yi!!!

Many people have felt the same for years. One girl from England left London in the 60’s and built a monastery, is now a Buddhist Nun among many other things. This is one of the most beautiful conversations I have heard. Thank you❤ I enjoyed every moment. The energy this has cultivated within me is beyond the expression of words❤
Hearing the message of this interview reminds me to go further than the day before and be grateful foreever the day brings, even it is a slow process, not seen from the outside. The beauty of the flower or tree has his genetic code from the beginning in itself , but the nourisment of water or other minerals decide, where the plant is redirected, in which direction and how this plant grows, its the question of the how, not of quanitity
It always amazed me that how can any spiritual leader neglect their body. I wouldn’t know what I know without the physical aspect. The physical aspect is what will promote the evolution in the longevity of our limited life. Part of the job is to extend this limit and guide others to not limit theirselves.
I feel we don't possess the comprehension as to how absolutely unique we actually are right this very moment, but because we want to know we restrict our abilities & then we build our civilizations within this boundary, maybe its conditioning, but it's almost like our development is obsolete by the time it's constructed, now if meditation is carried out then we get more knowledge of what's going on & why I think it should absolutely be part of the educational curriculum. June 22nd, World Peace day, let's chill relax & take in what this Universe advices ❤
Sometimes its really its true nice to be grateful despute of what happening ive been to the situation many times to end mylife sometimes i just im sorry Lord i destroy the life you've given me, and i tried to live again and reshape my thought, thank you master for all the teaching you shared and live my life to be useful.Thank you God Bless you, you're instrument to help the people who needs it. 🙏🙏🙏

Being more focused on what we have instead complaining what we do not have helps a lot! In the long term you have better life and better Planet 🍀♥🙏🌱
I love your stuff...I'm grateful for it. Please be aware making notes like you did re Seneca. In today's world, that's so taken by Stoicism...it sounds...funny. He was a man and not an Emperor or an Empress. He was a wealthy thinker, statesman, advisor and teacher. God bless.
At 15:00 i think i know amd he just said it , i just finnished 2x 10 sessions of silience and my second session my mind took off but like 25 years ago in a room while meditation was on and i could not do it that day because of thought, so they told me to concentrate on breeding when it happens amd suddenly , i was there in peace and this went on for 15 to 20 min of silence. So to uncondition and recondition is the key. But more so to keep breathing with discipline and let the mind become easy within itself. How else can it be done? Let the scenarios happen and use a bit of your ego to intimidate itself and it suddenly leaves you alone, so .......awarness is also the key on the progression of stillness.
Doesn’t he have enormous charisma😀👍 reminds me of my favourite school teachers. A real leader and dedicated to helping people overcome their minds. So grateful I found him along with others on my iPad. We’re very lucky.
Fantastic video, thank you both so very much. My problem has always been I think to much, but now I think I must take the correct action and not to be lazy looking for the easy way out.
Every day there is a lesson about yourself that needs to be evaluated. Meaning, was there something about any situation that you could have said or done better? Is there an issue that still needs resolution? I think when we look inward about the things we are not in control of, we avoid the responsibility of it. Therefore, we have a tendency to validate the end result on an emotional level. Every day brings a new identity of who we are❤

Thank you, Dr. Chatterjee, for guesting him!
You both are amazing 🤩
And now I feel as though a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders ❤
What a great perspective!
Grateful for being alive. He says "Don't take it for granted." That's a pretty solid foundation!
Very inspiring individual.
Master's candid admission at around minute 59:57 was priceless. First time I've seen him (almost) laugh! Thanks Dr Rangan for bringing this to us.
Wonderful conversation and so much to think about that makes total sense. I feel I need to stop...reboot my life...and live with more self awareness in order to fully realise this precious gift of our life. 🙏🙏
This podcast was so good. Thank you for this Dr. Chatterjee!
'Body, Mind, our Emotional state must be healthy' ....
I feel I must take the best care of my body and my thoughts. I am good enough and I care about others too.
This was brilliant and the final 5+ minutes are gold.
There’s always something to be grateful for
1:32:21 Create a bridge to change. That's it. Action is needed. No more Dr. Chatter vids, no more Master Shi vids... just *action.*
Watching from Myanmar. Today a monk from Bhutan contacted me and your video just appeared. I love how everything I wish for appears. I make videos in Myanmar on life here in a Bhuddist land. If you stay true to your path and listen to the call all will unfold for you
❤❤❤❤❤❤
This resonated and meant so much to me. What a truly remarkable man. Thank you.
Thank you! I am so grateful for the respect you show each other and yourself😊
As a complicated person and witty Armenian I ask myself everytime I watch Shifu what if the whole my world and surroundings are Shaoline so to say? The answer is so clear...
'For new habits to come in something old must go' ........
I love this Interview. It resonates on every level.
I couldn't have imagined a better Gift or present for Valentine's Day than this 0ne!! 🎁❤🙏
This was one of the best conversations I have seen on the internet. Such beautiful wisdom with so much clarity I loved every second of it. Thank you Rangan for sharing! And thank you Master Shi Heng Yi!!!
I want to be surrounded by ppl that want to meditate, be mindful, create, sworn the land , care for the animals n be happy n serene!! I would truly be full content n could leave happy n enlightened!
Many people have felt the same for years.
One girl from England left London in the 60’s and built a monastery, is now a Buddhist Nun among many other things.
The more you learn the more you learn 🙏
Thing is once you adopt this way of being 😀everything around changes.
My place of work for instance understands how better now, to communicate rather than create enemies.
Keep learning how to learn.💕
@@claremcbride416 I have been for 30 plus years n always been different! N it Master I’ve just found not the teaching. N I’m so much into this real way of life that I dnt find going to regular work pleasing once u learn n live it conforming? Is a joke! Not for me.

I understand what you say, I used to feel the same but my meditation has taken me deeper and I live what I feel, I live without the intention to do harm.
Folks notice and begin to ask questions, I don’t conform, I love them though in minding my own business, which is all we can do, things change for the better.
People begin to question their behaviour when you refuse to join them, in bullying, for instance.
This was a problem at my workplace, much less so 😀 now 🙏
You are correct
Way too many experts who are not actually experts at all
Why prof...😂😂😂 I'm back
What a lovely guest! Thank you Dr Chatterjee
INCREDIBLE ....many many thank you for this precious direction

Really looking forward to listening to this podcast, I love his qigong practices
Grateful for this episode. Thank you. I love your interview style. Both your voices are so calming.
Shi Heng Yi .s work and sharing of wisdom is beneficial. I studied gigong and taichi some years ago to find clarity, focus and balance after a burnout and the results were amazing. Amituofo

Thank you guys for this wonderful conversation.
God bless both of you ✨
Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power.

That is the one and only thing in life you have complete and total control over. That also gives you complete responsibility and 100% ownership of the results of your actions through life.
So powerful our mind ,our thoughts need to be mastered.
This video is liquid gold for my mind and the journey I'm going through! Thank you to both of you ❤
I just wished I had known this ages ago. I now watch the Danish Series with much understanding. I would so much like to come and learn♥️
"what would happen if the bubble bursts?" that was powerful. Thank you
This is a fascinating discussion, thank you.
Thank you and I’ve enjoyed this one very much. I’ve been watching Master Shi Heng Yi for a long while and implementing the teachings he shares in my journey. I have been listening to you as well for a bit and learn. I appreciate the well rounded of ones you have and from your view of this interview.
This is one of the most beautiful conversations I have heard. Thank you❤ I enjoyed every moment. The energy this has cultivated within me is beyond the expression of words❤

I'm done ✅ how about you 😂😂😂I'm back
Hearing the message of this interview reminds me to go further than the day before and be grateful foreever the day brings, even it is a slow process, not seen from the outside. The beauty of the flower or tree has his genetic code from the beginning in itself , but the nourisment of water or other minerals decide, where the plant is redirected, in which direction and how this plant grows, its the question of the how, not of quanitity
Brilliant interview. Some very simple but effective information provided. Thank you Rangan.
Thank you. I like compassion. I like learning. I love. ❤
Fantastic episode. Thank you doctor for bringing this amazing monk.
With respect, he is not a monk… he explains this himself during the chat 🙏🏼🙂
Sometimes its really its true nice to be grateful despute of what happening ive been to the situation many times to end mylife sometimes i just im sorry Lord i destroy the life you've given me, and i tried to live again and reshape my thought, thank you master for all the teaching you shared and live my life to be useful.Thank you God Bless you, you're instrument to help the people who needs it. 🙏🙏🙏
It weighs one down!!! That’s what he means!
this was THE SESSION I WAS LOOKING FOR SOME OF MY LIFE DILEMMAS! I THANK YOU FOR THIS ENLIGHTENMENT. You have touched my life in a deeper way ...I follow Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism and i could understand your perspective so well. Each Word made so much sense! Amazingly profound session....look forward to more from you.
So beautifully conducted as always. Great questions keeping all the generations in Mind. It shows you really feel for the Audience. Great Work. Will always be Thankful to You
Thank you I appreciate your time 🙏🏿
Thankyou for your insight. I’ve found this content very useful to cope with today’s toxicity online in particular ❤
Dr. Chatterjee you are a blessing in my life. Thank you!!!!!
Old habit must be replaced mindfully with healthier habits, schedule in the evening for the next day, split day in segments. Every day do the best you can with what you got and remember that no one is perfect but we can be 0,1% better every day. Being more focused on what we have instead complaining what we do not have helps a lot! In the long term you have better life and better Planet 🍀♥🙏🌱
55:00 No matter where you go, there you are. The entire video: Know Thyself.
Thank you!!! Lots to learn and put into practice from this podcast!!!🙏🙏🙏
God bless.
Always very Wise Words. I'm a little Buddha. 🧡

Grateful for everything
Man! What an amazing interview. So much truth.
Truly awesome!!! Thank you so so very much
This monk is just so handsome! Are you sure he’s not a Hollywood celebrity? 🤩
I'm quite sure that is the last thing he would want to be.

Every day brings a new identity of who we are❤
This interview was incredibly calming . Thank you
This is absolutely amazing!! I'm going to watch this often!
Thank you Doc
Another thought provoking, and inspiring conversation 😊
