Why Can We See the Moon During the Day

- Why we sometimes see the moon and the sun at the same time.
(Inside Science) -- Night is traditionally the moon's time to shine, after the sun has set and doesn't compete. But the moon can sometimes be visible during the day, even when the sun is up -- that's because the moon and the stars are always somewhere in the sky. Sometimes the sun is so bright and its light can overpower the light from the moon and the stars. But sometimes, at certain times of the day and month, we can see the moon during daylight hours. - Наука та технологія
So how can someone on the opposite side of earth (circle ball)
See the moon and it be pitch black?
Makes no sense.
Yesterday March 12th 2022. I saw the Sun high in the sky at 4:00pm. I also saw the Moon across from the Sun high in the sky BUT, it was not full. The Moon was 4/5ths full at the top and dark at the 1/5th of the bottom. The Earth was not blocking the bottom of the Moon because I could see both Sun and Moon! What is causing the shadow on the bottom of the Moon when nothing was blocking the view of both Sun and Moon in my view? I am located in south central Indiana. It was clear the Sun could see all of the Moon so why wasn't it a full Moon?
The phases of the moon are not caused by the shadow of the earth.
@@kitcanyon658 Can you tell me what is causing the phases. Did you read what I posted?
@@jondularswoods6461 : You don't what causes the phases of the moon? With an internet to search around to find this information, not to mention a lot of videos? You need to learn to do bettering searching.
The phases of the moon are simple caused by the sun illuminating the moon and where in space around the moon we, on earth, on viewing it.
Yes, I read your post. We see the moon in the sky during the day quite frequently and always have. That's the way the solar system works. It's not that hard to understand but you need to either watch a good demonstration or a good video. Have you watched any videos of this?
@@jondularswoods6461 actaully it should be like that
a full moon would have rised at sunset
but what you seen is not a full its a waxxing gibbous which is not full moon but close
a half moon would have rised at 12 pm
@@jondularswoods6461 you said 4pm so it can't be a full moon yet
it has to rise at 6pm or at sunset to be a full moon
Can't help but notice the sun lighting up the wrong side of the moon at 1:00
That is the very flaw they exposed. Children won´t catch on but that would be an amazing science project lol
Lol, I was just about to type the exact same thing😂
@@IAMElectric369 Kinda an important detail on a video such as this, right? XD
@@Altt lol, one would think. Prolly just trying to see how many people would catch it.
@@IAMElectric369 Haha, maybe!
So when I can see the moon at 4pm in Melbourne are you trying to tell me that in Portugal (the direct opposite side of the globe) has no moon in the sky at night?... That makes no sense
Also, I saw a waxing moon in the morning after sunrise and waning moon in the afternoon

Lmaooooo this didnt explain shit
why can't we see the moon just before and just after the eclipse
Cause the earth flat 😂😂
And at night, the sun makes the moon glow, but in day, the sun has more light
Follow-up question: Why can't we see the sun at night?
Because earth isnt flat.
Because we've rotated on our axis, and the earth is round not flat.
7 months later:
Um... that would be called _"day"_ when you can see the sun. Im now kind of sure youre being facetious.
@@pureflix8086 Who said it was flat?
Who implied that earth is flat?
Ooh
the moon would need to be on the other side of the earth, from the sun, to reflect it light back...not between the sun and earth.....during the day, that would be an eclipse
So when we see the moon during the day does that mean the other side of the world where its night time doesnt have a moon in the night sky since its still over on the side of the earth where its day?
No one can answer this which is frustrating 😂
No bot will allow the answer, you know whats up
Good question
Right ?? Ive been asking this question for years
This is what I’m trying to figure out yet. You ask these so called geniuses and they can’t even answer it they just tell you what this video explains which does not explain your question.
But the moon can be visible during the day bro
Stop trusting your eyes: it is dangerous to our democracy
iT SHOULD be visable during the day but you should not be able to see any moon cycles other than new moon lol

Wrong, day/night on Earth is produced by rotation of Earth on its axis, while Moon phases are created by relative position of the Sun and Moon in relation to the Earth, so they can't affect each other.

1:02 clearly shows you the flaw in the model, as the sun which is behind the moon as illustrated can have the rays wrap around the moon for us to then see the shadow lmoooooooooooooooooooooo The video also doesn´t mention that you can see all phases of the moon during the day lol.
That drove me crazy. They basically showed an eclipse.
" The video also doesn´t mention that you can see all phases of the moon during the day lol."
We can't see all moon phases during the day.
Full Moon phase is visible only during the night, while New Moon is not visible although the Moon is on the sky during the day.
Anyone else find it strange that before cern started their experiment that this wasn't possible. In fact the latest known date of this start is a decade ago
Please tell me you’re joking.
@@JohnHazenhousen people really are stupid.
This only started happening recently if you only started noticing it recently. It’s always been like this, since I was a kid. Pay attention to your surroundings and don’t be an idiot
lol
I see the moon ever day. How can that be explained? Says in the video you can only see it sometimes. Lol
You’re right. Most days of the cycle you would be able to see the moon up while the sun is still. The new moon would be seen, though and a full moon will technically just be rising right about the time the sun is setting.
@@kitcanyon658 does the other side of the earth not see the moon?
@@iwillrateyou9375 : Of course it does. Why wouldn't it? The earth rotates and thus each location on the planet will have the moon in sight at some point during a 24 hour period.
The question becomes how much of the moon you can see that day, which is determined by the phase.
@@kitcanyon658 yep this video implied you could see the moon in the sky 24 hrs I looked it up it's 12hrs which would make sense
@@iwillrateyou9375 : No, I disagree with you. I don't see how this video implies you can see the moon for 24 yrs. Are you talking about the graphics they use? Because no words mentioned that.
You can debunk this yourself if you know anyone living on the other side of the Earth. I've video called people I know in Mongolia, and Japan. Sometimes while we have the Sun and Moon in the sky, so do they. That's impossible on a flat or round Earth. We live in a simulation. Feel free to keep arguing about the Earth's shape though. All I care is the Sun and Moon keep working.
Where do you live?
cool, super easy to prove. One of these days call up you friends on the other side of the world and live stream the sun and moon. Record it and prove it to the world.
But you won't, because you can't.
This has happened to me too, not a friend tho but someone who is joined to the same Facebook group as me.. they live in California I live in New Zealand, it was night time for them day time for me, i seen they had posted a pic of the moon that night to the Facebook group, which to me seemed strange so thats when I asked where and when they took that pic, they told me it was taken an hour before posting it and that they are in California, I couldn't understand it because at the same time I'm in New Zealand, it's about 5pm if I remember correctly, still daylight, and the moon is still in my skies too with the sun, but somehow it was still in California night time then aswel which is on the other side of the world.. like wtf.. that's impossible.. it's happened another time too but with someone else in the UK.. and every day and every night for the last 4 days and 4 nights the moon has been here both night and day for the last 4 night and day..
@@zebwebster9445 Are you being serious? California is not on the opposite side of the world to New Zealand. Not even close. It makes perfect sense for the Moon to be visible in both locations at once. Same with the UK.
@JohnHazenhousen your right I didn't think about how close we are actually or check till now.. but then that leaves the question why is it not sunny there too when it is here
Earth is flat.
