  • Bass fishing and fishing bass tournaments was only a fairly recent venture for me. I didn't start out bass fishing like most anglers in the bass circuit. But i grew to love it and had a passion for competing. Now i am starting to get back to that passion of chasing bass.

This channel is about fishing swimbaits for big Murray cod in places like Copeton Dam through to Barramundi in impoundments like Lake Awoonga. In addition, my channel teaches tips and techniques to help you catch more fish. Mixed in will be some bass fishing techniques and tips for trout fishing. From my years of bass tournament fishing, I have learned to pay attention to detail, and the small things make a difference in catching a couple of fish or a lot of fish.

Those little buggers are pros when it comes to bricking ya….😂
My wife and I caught our first bass at Boondooma, back around 98-99, similar story to yours, a mate convinced me to give the fresh a go, he was fishing one of the ABT tournaments as a non-boater, he had his little tinny there and let us use it for the weekend. We didn’t really have any bass lures but it just so happened Robin from bassman spinnerbaits was there as one of the supporting sponsors of the comp, my mate introduced us to her, she made up a dozen or so spinnerbaits for us and we headed out to use them. We had a great time with many bass and yellow belly caught between us over the weekend, we’ve been hooked ever since and head to the fresh on a regular basis. Still using bassmans to this day actually, love em.
Loving the content mate, my 12 year old son has finally been getting proper keen on fishing too and I’ve had him watching your vids, he particularly likes your barra session with your Japanese mate….biiiiigg mundy, we’re always saying it around the house or out in the boat. 😂

hahaha that is awesome mate, unfortunately i was a little late to the bass scene to have met Robin but have heard nice things about how it all used to be. Very cool story though mate, can you message me on one of my other social media platforms and i will send something to you for you son for fishing. Takuma is the best and can't wait to get him back here.

@@DeanSilvester Dean, that’s extremely kind and generous of you mate but I’m not on any form of social media, the wife is so I might be able to get her to find you and message ya, if not we really appreciate it anyway.
Yeah Robin was awesome, she had a great setup and would build up custom spinnerbaits in any colour and configuration you wanted, I had some real fish catching colours/blade configs and they’ve slowly been lost in battle or worn out over the years. The newer compact models they bring out now days have been a favourite of mine for the last 5 years or so.
Great to see the new Shimano sponsorship too mate, I’m a Shimano man myself, I had a brief love affair with the other big brand but found she was pretty to look at but too high maintenance and didn’t perform when it counted..😂
Quick edit : wife found you on Facebook, we can message you through there or she said you have an email on you page so if that’s and option we can go that way, let us know. Cheers.

    Hi mate,
Geeez, just goes to show when the ex-Australian Champion finds catching a BASS a grind, then they are well and truly off the chew.
Out of curiosity, what is your PB bass mate?
The Spangled Perch ( or what looked like),you were catching were of a half-decent😁 size
I notice you still keep a great arsenal of Jackall lures at hand, are they still your favorite go-to mate,
    Regards
    Dave.

Hey legend, welcome back. I hope you are feeling okay. PB bass is 3.5kg and on that day i caught two in two casts that almost weighed 7kg total.. 53cm fork is the longest i have caught and caught a few of them now. Yep have faith in a lot of my jackall lures particularly the jerk baits

Mate that tent is amazing, i purchased it and paid full price so i am not biased there. It was super expensive though as i paid to have it fited and you need a full size pioneer rack under it to support it. • @DeanSilvester
      @DeanSilvester  Рік тому +1

HI 6's to 7's mate, its basically what you get used to for line recovery. Don't want too fast though or you start moving the lure too much and too slow you will have to do a full revolution or more between twitches which is frustrating. all depends on line per turn for the reel brand or size that you are using

Well, Mate! You didn't give up! The high water didn't help you. The sky had very few clouds. It looked like a weather high came after a huge rain storm. In America. Some fishermen would have been flipping and pitching along the bank. Here in Indiana it's getting close to Largemouth spawn. It's early May and the temps dropped along with 5 days of rain on and off Down to the high 30's at night. Working my 7 days this week. Then back to working M,T, W. With T,F,S,S off. Do you have any tips for the Bass spawn? Oh, Going old school with the spinnerbait was a good Idea. If you don't catch bass on the spinnerbait. Then you probably won't catch any at all.. Maybe a DT deep diver to get the bait right above the bass's head. Also, I would have tried a 1/2 oz Chatterbait to get it down along the flooded banks. You haven't lost your touch Dean! Another outstanding video. You didn't get skunked either. One day of bad fishing is better than working any day. Keep them videos coming. Shawn from the States.

It was more the big southerly change that had them all messed up, apparently they had been biting the week prior and now the weather is stable i have no doubt that they will be back to normal again. April is often tough with the temperature changes and the thermocline in the lake often shifting. Spawning bass are so fun mate, do you have the option to be able to sight fish for them? Pre spawn i have often done well with chatterbait and squarebill just at that 3-4 feet mark where you can't see the bottom but you know they are out there staging on stumps etc. They eat chatterbaits well over here when they are up on the banks a bit more but i couldn't find any up the banks. We don't have a spawn over here in aus as the fish want to travel to the saltwater to spawn and they can't do that in impoundments.
