What’s funny is his AC isn’t even that bad, he could have climbed the arena ladder at least into C or D. But alas, this is Armored Core, happiness and hope are lies to distract from the suffering with chaos as the only answer.
I really like to imagine that while the trainee pilot believed he was doing a simple delivery mission, when he arrives, the Redguns would've done something like "Surpirse kiddo! It's your AC and you're now a Redgun!", just like some surprise birthday party. If you also look at the weapon suite, they're all pretty basic and easy to use weapons, which would suit someone like this pilot. Also also, looking at the recent leaks for the new parts, the back mounted gatling gun almost feels like it was specifically made for this pilot because the description says it is specifically designed for ease of use by the 'suggestion' of the Redguns.
I actually feel bad for this pilot. I hear that g1 Michigan intentionally sacrificed this pilot under negotiations with handler walter for what he did on grid 135. So either he dies and 621 gets to work under the red guns, or the trainee preveils, gets even with walter, and still gets a redgun member.
I always thought that Walted took the job to clear a spot in the Redguns for us without Michigan's knowledge. I doubt Michigan would be willing to just give away a pilot, seeing as he bothered to learn the names of and banter with random MT pilots.
Personally, i always thought of him as the closet thing we got to see of a Normal AC pilot. As lets be honest pretty much all teh AC pilots are NOT normal cases, whether they be part of a Elite team, or simply have some other anomaly or importance to them. he seemed to be the only one, that while seeming lacking combat experience, is the closest glimpse into the average, pilot, likely using one of the AC part sets that say they are mass produced, being nothing more then a Facey highly moduler MT at the end of the day [kinda like how 4th gen and 5th gen Fighter jets are thought to a slightly more noticeable degree] But we never see those, "normal" pilots in this game or any game really beyond him.. And that kinda makes him special. Maybe... At least that is what i like to believ.
I would agree with what you believe. Main plot ac pilots are very much super elite or have some special plus helping them reach great heights. But here we have a normal guy very much like apple boy and other low ranking ac pilots seen in the older games. All just normal people who either wanted to escape thier lives or wanted to make something of themselves only the world of ac is cruel so they will either die at the hands of these elite pilots or die on a mission.
To be fair. Frued is a normal pilot. While yeah he's apart of a group. He's not the leader. He doesn't even take part in any of the missions. He doesn't have any augmentations. He's just a good pilot
In my opinion, this was the most likeable character in the game. He makes it clear that he doesn't like or respect you, the merc who only kills for credits, but he's not cocky or rude about it. He takes up arms because it's his duty, stays calm, stays focused, and fights to the end, not trying to run away or to bargain for his life. I also think his AC has a reasonable amount going for it. The Pulse Blade has an astonishing 2.3x damage multiplier versus targets with overloaded ACS, the active homing missiles have some of the highest impact damage of any missiles, and the assault rifle can make sure that targets don't recover their ACS after firing, giving the build a simple plan: Fire the missiles, dash in alongside them to pressure with the assault rifle, and pulse blade if they get staggered. A solid strategy for a novice pilot.
I know armored core isn't a franchise that makes the player a hero but instead of killing for credits the Student Pilot/Redguns would kill because the shareholders order them too lol.
We’re crushing this poor trainee for pennies as a way to test our new AC builds, none the less atleast he can take on 621 with his own guts than *ahem* *Iguazu and some of vesper members*
@@armoredcorelorethink of all the mts that have died one day before you can get augmented into an ac only for a building travelling at the speed of a super car one taps you
I have a theory that the tester AC was a replacement for cannonhead as G 1 says in the dam mission that Volta's AC isn't exactly cutting edge, but that's just a thought I had anyway.
Unlikely, that would require G4 to undergo training to familiarize himself with the new AC, and in a moving battleground like Rubicon, that isn't an option. Yes, it's an easy to use AC, but that shouldn't be mistaken for easy to master. There's also the matter if it even maximises Volta's potential when compared to Canonhead. From what I gather, he would've done fine if Iguazu didn't decide to wander off. If they'd just been able to distract the Juggernaut, Michigan could commit more forces to the field. It's the same thing Arquebues technically does when we go inside the wall after clearing the outside.
I was wondering if you were going to make a video on Branch. My interest in them peaked when I realized the most unique parts of each are either arquebus or bales parts, yet none of their squads use them. (For example umber ices tank legs by arquebus ADD) I was wondering if that had anything to do with the hacktivist part.
If that AC was delivered to them, it was not only beneficial to the Redguns (G1 Michigan will train the pilot hard), but also to the Balam (Ransetsu AR and Butt/A), Dafeng (improvements of Tian Qiang AC), and Furlong Dynamics (12345 booster and cruise missile)

Poor dude could've made for a decent pilot but sooner or later he would've went down with balam and the other red guns atleast he'll be remembered for being a good sparing partner for testing different builds unless you just fight the Og raven in the arena like how i did
The thing I don't understand is why you can blow up a bunch of Balam stuff in one mission and do a Balam mission next and they have absolutely no idea that you're the one who kicked in the door and murdered their comrades
Ha ha I'll be honest there is always a game element that can not be escaped. But if we want a lore idea there has always been an underlining idea within ac that corporations tended to turn a blind eye to mercs who attacked thier stuff and then helped them later. Most do not attack mercenaries due to contracts and fear the back last if they do and on Rubicon the corporation at the time had very little to work with. They only had the ac's they brought in and we never really know the distance between thier home base and Rubicon 3, so as a guess they would turn a blind eye to a lot of the mercenaries action as today foe could be tomorrows friend.
In the AC universe, the only hostiles are those who cannot be paid for. Even if someone just destroyed an asset of yours, it is far cheaper to just hired that person instead of having a grudge on him/her/they and try to engage hostility with that person.
True but all that money all the time can really eat into profits. Mirage is a famous case for this and we can see arquebus in the end wanted to re educate 621 to use them as an asset. So while paying them works for a while better they be dead or re educated.
Sorry to dispatch you buddy but the G13 emblem is mine. Nothing personal. Maybe you can come back as a Rubiconian ghost and have a redemption arc or something lolol
