The little history of the French SAS (4th SAS) :
The Special Air Service (SAS) is a special forces unit of the British Armed Forces, developed in 1941 in Egypt by Lieutenant David Stirling while he was in hospital after a parachute accident.
This unit became known during the Second World War by engaging in bold raids on the rear of German lines in North Africa. To strengthen, it has integrated foreign units, particularly French (1st company of paratroopers) and Greek (Sacred Squadron). At the end of the desert campaign (Libya, Cyrenaica, Crete and Tunisia) she joined Britain to restructure for the liberation operations of southern Europe (Italy) and then north (France, Belgium, the Netherlands). By forming an Anglo-Franco-Belgian brigade.
Very soon after starting his operations, Stirling realizes that the men he needs should be trained in commando actions. But he had little time and took men who already had advanced training. In Egypt, there were French parachutists, too few to fill missions, but who only wanted to participate in the joint effort and who had already participated in destruction operations in France, such as that of the power plant. Pessac (May 1941). Stirling therefore asked his superiors that these Frenchmen were attached to him.
This unit of free French not dependent on the British command, Stirling took it upon himself to ask General de Gaulle "permission" directly to borrow the first company of paratroopers of Captain George Bergé.
At first de Gaulle refused to allow a single part of his troops to be under the direct command of a British officer in a British unit. According to the witnesses, Stirling, furious, would have said in English: "He is as stubborn as an English officer! "
De Gaulle, who respected the Old Alliance between the kingdoms of Scotland and France, "the oldest alliance in the world" in his words (speech made in Edinburgh on June 23, 1942), would have turned around understanding that Stirling was Scottish and he wished good luck for the continuation of operations. (Yet De Gaulle's policy was not Anglophobic, but consisted in showing that France was continuing the fight by itself, without being a foreign legion at the behest of the Allies). necessary]
In January 1942, Captain Georges Bergé's 1st CCP was sent to Kabrit. In search of paratroopers to reinforce his brigade, Stirling integrates the free French, who form the SAS French Squadron; the first French or Franco-British sticks were engaged at the end of May 1942. A raid was conducted against the aerodrome of Candie-Heraklion in Crete on June 13, 1942 by a commando of 6 men, led in Crete submarine, slightly equipped (colt 45, dagger, compass and twenty Lewis bombs each). They destroy 22 aircraft of the German air base. The next day, the paratrooper Pierre Léostic (17 years old) is shot dead by the Germans, Lieutenant Costas Pétrakis and Captain Lord Jellicoe escape from the operation, Commander Bergé, Corporal Jacques Mouhot and paratrooper Jack Sibard are taken prisoner .
In the face of SAS attacks, guards are placed on airfields to protect planes, preventing SAS men from laying their bombs. Also Stirling equips the brigade of jeeps equipped with 3 to 5 machine guns each, with which it launches surprise attacks which allow them to momentarily have a higher firepower to the enemy and to destroy the planes, before to escape in the desert. In Sidi Hanneisch (July 27, 1942), 18 jeeps destroy about thirty Heinkel 111.
Despite the failure of the raid against the port of Benghazi (the forces involved were too numerous according to the SAS criteria) and the capture of its leader during a mission in Tunisia, the SAS wins the right to continue the fight on the European front after the landing of the British and Americans in North Africa. Moreover, even if Bergé was captured shortly after Stirling, and the North African SAS were decimated, the idea of a cosmopolitan body was acquired.
When Germany surrendered on May 8, 1945, there were only 22 French members of the surviving SAS on the 215 French SAS committed before November 8, 1942 (which depended on the FAFL), ie 90% of losses.
Today the 1st RPIMa is the heir to French SAS units of the Second World War. He has kept the motto, "Who dares to win" It includes patrols specialized in desert mobility. These patrols are currently regrouped in the 3rd company of the regiment and called SAS patrols ("PATSAS")

Everything you are saying is from the past in history things change buddy you can’t compare a spec ops unit in modern day to its self in ww2 yes the French sas wasn’t much back then but they are now more highly trained then the British sas better equipped more used which means they have more experience in modern day warfare they train with delta force and seal team 6 which means they are strong at sea air and land warfare they operate like seal team 6 and delta force and has teams to do everything in which if the sas has a maritime job it would be turned to Sbs French sas would turn it to the marine commandos but if it was bad enough they would send in the French sas it’s the most secretive most highly trained spec ops in France and the British sas isn’t that secretive anymore is it everyone on this earth know they exist they know what they do they know how they do it hell you have tv shows dedicated to showing the training of the British sas so that’s not that secretive about anything tbh say what you want things change and ww2 is long gone these guys have grown stronger and better then there British counterparts
