    Great Video.
    Your dedication to creating high-quality content, covering a range of topics related to IFC and architectural workflows, has not only been informative but also inspiring. The clarity and depth of your tutorials have significantly contributed to my understanding and proficiency in the field.
    I am particularly interested in exploring the integration of point clouds within architectural projects using BlenderBim. As an avid follower of your channel, I have benefited greatly from your expertise and would be immensely grateful if you could consider creating a tutorial on utilizing point clouds in BlenderBim.

      Hi Pedro, thank you, and I am also very interested in using Point clouds in Ifc, there are a few others on the OSArch community forum who are ahead of this and have expertise:
      community.osarch.org/discussions
      Hoever when I find a simple workflow that works for me I will certainly include a tutorial of it on this channel, it would be phenomenal if we could load, in the future, Gausian splats or some other form of Radiance field aswell

    Offsets for panels - be good if you can enter formula so they adjust on the fly - ie 1/3 o/all height. etc

    Thank you for the great tutorial!! It is really helpful.
    How can I change the door design freely, such as making a parent-and-child door, adding a glass section, adding a ventilation gutter, etc.?

    • @IfcArchitect
      @IfcArchitect  9 місяців тому

      Hi Shige
      At the moment this is the extent of the parametric door modifier, If you want to add additional elements and detail like ventilation or louvres etc you would need to model it manually and classify it as an IfcWIndow or Door

    If you are all ready starting with a pre-existing house that has been made from say like Stephens Archipak. Would you then assign an ifc class to the different modeled types? Walls for Walls and Windows for Windows? I have about 4 different types of windows.

    • @brandonegolf1093

      Or is it better to start the model from scratch in blender bim?

    • @IfcArchitect
      @IfcArchitect  3 місяці тому +1

      HI sorry, don't know how I missed this,
      Ideally you start from scratch as a native Ifc model this is my preference, but you can totally classify an archipack model as IfcClasses and use it that way, it just takes a bit longer and requires knowing what classifications to use

    thank you Lloyd, always a pleasure watching your videos
    PS the version used in this video is 230921 (Sep-23) I think the drawing panel interface is slightly different in the Nov-23 version? cheers

      yes apologies I recorded this before I got sick and edited it afterwards, it's slightly different but the general elements you need should still be the same.

      @IfcArchitect  11 місяців тому +1

      Hey King
      Thanks! and no you don't need to load the demo library but it makes it easier if you have a base door and window type to start with, so I would recommend it!

      @@IfcArchitect is there a way to create my own base library? Or would you not recommend it?

    • @IfcArchitect
      @IfcArchitect  10 місяців тому

      @@kingalysterianlion5542 yes you can create your own types Like I have done in this video using the window and door tool.
      Or you can manually model them and classify them as Ifc doors or Windows
      The latter is a very slow process
      I would recommend trying to create a small example project for yourself and you can use that Ifc as your first base library and build from there, not a waste of time at all, but rather do it as part of a project not on it's own

    Hi, Can you tell me how to reduce the height of the slab cause I don't know where or how to use it

    • @IfcArchitect
      @IfcArchitect  9 місяців тому

      Hi Pavan, you can edit the depth of the slab by adjusting the slab thickness in the material tab.
      1) Make sure to select the object you want to edit
      2) Go to:
      Scene Properties / Material and Geometry / Materials / Object material / IfcMateriallayersetusage
      3) Click the pencil icon and you can edit the thickness, from there remember to confirm the change

    Hello, i want to ask, how to change the wall's thickness?

    • @IfcArchitect
      @IfcArchitect  10 місяців тому

      Hi Franhtz, you can change the walls thickness by editing the paramatric wall material found here:
      Scene properties / Materials and geometry / inherited material (make sure to edit the material) inside will be a thickness value you can edit (make sure to save when you are done

    I have few questions and suggestions-
    1. Is there anyway to combine home builder with BlenderBIM as it has very easy to change parametric library.
    2. The drawings generated should have layers so we can edit those in inkscape. For changing colours of handle. Also, the handle should be made as inkscape symbol so we can make symbol library in inkscape and replace the generated one.
    3. Any long term plan to integrate inkscape to further refine 2d drawings to improve presentation and also when we do some changes in the drawing, it update automatically.

      Hi Rajendra,
      If you have suggestions I'd reccommend adding to the Github here:
      github.com/IfcOpenShell/IfcOpenShell/issues
      or the OSarch community here:
      community.osarch.org/discussions
      Homebuilder is an amazing tool but it isn't integrated into Ifc Schema, Andrew has mentioned an interest in integration if it would seem beneficial from his point of view, but fundamentally these are two different addons with dramatically different scopes.
      Unfortunately I'm not the developer I just make tutorials to showcase workflows and the development but the developers are very responsive to constructive feedback and requests

    Nice video as always Lloyd. Thank you very much. Practically now you can save all of them as part of the template. I noticed that there are different types per door swing. Is it possible to have one type of the door with two options, left or right swing?

    • @StefanoVerugi
      @StefanoVerugi 11 місяців тому

      I don't think you can, the type instance is holding all the parameters including the swing, changing one will change all corresponding copies from the same type. I usually name a door type based on dimensions and create 2 types adding L and R as suffix to identify the swing separately.

    • @IfcArchitect
      @IfcArchitect  11 місяців тому +1

      You are absolutely right Stefano, in the future hopefully door swing isnt hooked to type, but at the moment that is how it is.

    warching the video at 0.75 speed helps. It seems the 20 min was the goal to compress it all in. Great Video but a slower rate of information would be helpfull.

    In Blender 4.02 / BlenderBim v0.0.231104 I have to manually add the voids in the walls for the windows and doors (as per this example).
    Also after rotating a window, the moment I add the void, the window flips back into the original position.

    OK.. but as a bim.. where is door and window schedule?

    • @IfcArchitect
      @IfcArchitect  3 місяці тому

      Hi, at the moment Blenderbim is still in development and doesn't have a built in Window and door schedule but there are workflows to create the same thing but are quite manual for now. This is a fast changing program and will definitely create a video covering the process or the dedicated tool once it has been added

    Could an overlay or other highlight be shown automatically to identify the window to make it easier, as in when setting up multiple computer monitors and trying to identify which screen is which?

      Hi nice ride, yes it could be, it's a matter of UI and UX design which has been changing over time for the better, if you have any specific feedback the developers are very good with responding to requests on the github:

      Hi Pavan, so for each individual shape of door or window you need a new/ separate Window or Door Type in the Ifc Launch manager before editing the doors, You can see that happening in this video around here:
