    I have learned a lot in this tutorial! I had no idea about that trick about joining another object to get the 2D representation.
    BTW windows (like doors) have a convention that the object origin should be in the bottom left of the XY plane (you have in the top left, hence why the window appeared to protrude out of the wall). Also coming soon is a window generator tool, as well as better solid modeling tools to create multiple extrusions in a single object (which would help in the tessellation artefacts of the window).

    Hi, it goes well until changing the 2D rep. I joined the 2D rep, which is I chose to be a trace outline, with my own 2D rep. This gives no error, but as soon as I switch to model rep and back to 2D rep it only loads the trace outline. My own 2D rep is nowhere to be found. Do you know anything about it?

      Hi essejro, this process had been updated and I will be making a general update on this video with the newer Blenderbim version

      @@IfcArchitect Amazing, can you maybe address how to make a door/window from extruded profiles too? And how to properly make the connections between the different profiles? That would be perfect!

      Think the 2D rep should now go into Plan/Body/PLAN_VIEW (My guess is that Plan/Annotation/PLAN_VIEW is now for 'real' annotations). Also when you want to update the default trace outline, you need hit 'Manually update representation' under 'Representation Utilities' after editing the outline.

    At 5.39 i don't get this option to assign ifc class to any mesh. I have followed rest of the setup of project step properly.

      Hi Gomzyp, I am not certain what the issue could be but I'd recommend updating to the latest stable release of blenderbim, which has this in a different place in the UI you can see how it has changed in this video:
      ua-cam.com/video/tpQjRjB1wnU/v-deo.html
      If that does not help you can ask questions on the OSArch community forum here:

      @@IfcArchitect it is latest update i am using. And i realised in latest update the ifc properties are clubbed under scene settings Tab. So that was the place i found it finally. But just a follow up- does this same workflow applies to custom door types?

    My window was inserted perpendicular on the wall . Do you know the possible reason for that ?Otherwise great tutorial, i was thinking how i could model 3d some Revit Families without using the built-in Revit tools.

    • @IfcArchitect

      It might be the orientation of the window when you classified the class, or perhaps you did not apply rotation before applying the IfcClass, those are my 2 best guess' something I have learned per the pinned comment.

    Reckon you'd be able to cover the production and most importantly the management of a template library (i.e save as blender file for internal management to retain constraints in individual nested blender files using asset library (if possible) and have an exported ifc library for starting a project from scratch). Again, great to see!

    Good work mate. Can you do an extension to this video including how you modify and reload a type and how you create multiple types as a workflow. if possible. :)

      Yes I can, It will be in a video explaining the type manager (The little waffle grid icon )

    Can we make it parametric?

      There is in fact a parametric tool for this now, I am busy recording a short video of how to use it

    Is there a workflow for importing Revit Families or IFc objects to be able to use them in Blender? And …

    • @DionMoult
      @DionMoult 2 роки тому

      You can use any IFC project (coming from Revit or any other software) as an assets library :) This will work so long as they are compliant with the IFC standard.

      As Dion said, I will make a video showing that workflow aswell

    Hello! Does BlenderBim has Wall Curtain system?

    • @IfcArchitect
      @IfcArchitect  Рік тому +1

      Hi Abigail, at the moment it doesn't have a specific tool for curtain walls but you can definitely create them and classify them in the ifc
