Cut my last CC ($300 limit) seven years ago, paid off the house three years ago, made my last $300 car payment Friday. On $37,000/year I'M DEBT FREE! Car payments will be diverted to investments.
Good job...congrats!
Good for you! I'll bet you're totally enjoying the debt free life?
🥳🥳🥳🥳👏👏👏👏👏so awesome! Great job tackling the debt!
7 years wow That took focus! Hopefully your diverted $ is partly in safe investments for your next car repair/replacement fund..like" i bonds"... only 6.2%, but guaranteed.
$300 limit? Jeez I probably put $1500 on the card every month
9k left of 33,000 in student loans making 55k. Less than 5 digits finally I can see the finish line
George you and Dave combined are the best!! Keep it coming on the fine print please and thank you for all you do 👍🏻🖖🏻
Great job.
Congrats 🎉 keep on keepin on 🚂. You’ll be done before you know it.
Way to go
That’s awesome progress! Keep going! It’s so worth it!
Making money is not the same as keeping it there is a reason why investments aren't well taught in schools, the examples you gave are well stationed, the market crisis gave me my first millions, people shy away from hard times, I embrace them.. well at least my advisor does lol.
Investors should be cautious about their exposure and be wary of new buys, especially during inflation. Such high yields in this recession is only possible under the supervision of a professional or trusted advisor.
Wow, this is excellent! As a beginner, keeping up with all this information can be challenging.
Having monitoring my portfolio performance which has made a jaw dropping $473k from just the past two quarters alone, I have learned why experienced traders make enormous returns from the seemingly unknown market. I must say it's the boldest decision I've taken since recently.
@@MarkFreeman-xi3rk Please pardon me, who guides you on the process of it all?
The adviser I'm in touch with is Margaret Johnson Arndt . You can use something else, for me her strategy works hence my result. she provides entry and exit point for the securities I focus on.
I grew up in a basement apartment.. Mom , Dad and three kids. When I was 11 years old, my dad built us a house. Bigger than the apartment, but nothing fancy. People now want it all and live above their means.
I live by, I don't lend money unless I'm writing it off as never getting it back. Then even if their "intention" is to repay me, it won't hurt me because it is no longer accounted for.
I strongly agree with downsizing to have the wife stay at home during those years. I grew up with a stay at home mom and I wouldn't have traded that for a better house to live in. Much better to have a parent at home to bring up the kids if possible.
I think all married couples with children should have the mom stay at home 💯 homeschool while they are at it☺️
Before they make that move one thing I would look into is refinancing the loan IF property values in the area have risen like so many have. Maybe they can get those payments down to something more reasonable.
@@phoebelee55 i don't. Not every mother is great at homeschooling or being a mom.
🔥 Reminder. NEVER let relatives know you have AVAILABLE cash. EVER. Then Uncle would not have known that money was there to begin with. AND That money for the 21 year college student was never AVAILABLE.
But but but, she wants the fancy house, the new car, the clothes, the jewelry and shopping at Whole Foods….
35:00 this hits home 😢... smh where was Ramsey 30plus yrs ago... it's like you have a crystal ball .... I am 49yrs old and I am just starting to learn how to say "no" and not feel guilty about it.
I stupidly also learned to say NO decades later! My kids didn't even ever say , " Thank you." instead said, " I got it." ( check, presents...)
“They’re not gonna repossess your grandpa” Dave 😂😂😂
I really agree, don't listen to broke people tell you what to do with money! I did that years ago, big mistake:(
This is why I like the move in silence “movement”. How did her uncle know she had that money? When you live in a super dysfunctional family and you want to get ahead, one way of doing that is keeping your plans to yourself.
Health + stealth = wealth.
🤔Who borrows $15,000 to pay a hospital bill? I worked in Patient Access (i.e. taking the money) for 4yrs. In most hospitals, there is a program called Financial Assistance, which he Probably qualified for. My heart goes out to the young lady. She’s learned a very expensive lesson. This story makes me mad. And, makes me wonder if all that money went to the hospital🤦♀️
@@lsmith6718 I believe he just stole that money. I’m sure the hospital billing talked to the family representative about her grandpa’s bill and then directed them to help for low income patients. I wouldn’t be surprised if she tried to sue the uncle and the lawyer investigated and found that to be the case
If I was in her situation and felt the need to help out I would not have given the uncle a dime. Instead I would have payed the bill directly. For all she knows he didn’t pay the bill and spent the money like stated above. When you mix family or friends with money it rarely works out well.
THIS!!!!
You know what happens if you can't pay a medical bill? Talk to the hospital, not a 21 year old. What a scummy uncle. My wife had a 2 week hospital stay and a c-section last year and it cost 5k. We're in baby step 2, but eliminated all our saved money for the baby due to serious complications (leading to over 100 day NICU stay). A hospital will work with you, usually with a very low minimum payment and 0% interest. This sounds like the uncle wanted to scam her.
"I just want to box your uncles ears" - Dave Ramsey
1:13:00 "Very little debt, just $50k"
Dude... I would consider that swimming in debt since it's not his mortgage.
He actually did this to her when she was 18 as it was a year and a half ago. Which makes this so, so, so, much worse.
The uncle conned her to get the money for himself 💯
I have a manufactured home and I love that I am almost done paying it off. I have 8 acres with a view and 600 a month for a 4 bedroom home. In my area, where its very agricultural, they can go for 200,000 with the land. I don't regret my investment when I see my friends with big mortgages that stress them out.
George, I love the fact that you drive an '09 Honda Accord with body damage! Drive on.
Stay home with those babies!! Think about the childcare cost, clothes for work, mileage and wear and tear on the car...you'll use up her salary pretty much!! Hey George, keep your car, dude...I'm driving a 22 year old Honda mini van and it works great...not ready to drop 40k on a new car yet...have the money, but why, when you can drive a paid for vehicle.
Right? I have a 2005 Saturn Vue and a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Both paid for and I will drive them till the wheels fall off. There’s no way I want to take on payments or buy a car in this economy. It’s a total rip off!
She would have been 18 at the time the uncle robbed her.
So you want to downsize and get out of debt BUT YOU WANT MORE KIDSSSSSSSSSSSSS ?????????????????????? DUDE C-MON
Since neither one of you has ever been pregnant and had to live with Jessica's husband and a bunch of other kids with no car, you might not know that WOMEN EVERYWHERE think she was very conservative in her decision. Hopefully, he'll get his head examined and REPENT. But if things don't work out, she can start a "go fund me" on Facebook for a good lawyer to make that jack*** pay for the van. I'll be the 1st to contribute.
I'm struggling in this market. Stocks that I have held for months and made profits from are not behaving the way I'm used to so I’m quite indecisive on how to tackle this market, any advice would be grateful
@shawanderson2684 That sounds great and what signal do you invest with?
@shawanderson2684 Oh i would love that
@shawanderson2684 Great, I will do that now. Thanks for sharing.
Just started my financial peace university course! Half way through baby step one! In one day of work I’ll be done before the end of the month than tackle that debt with VENGEANCE💪🏾💪🏾
George it made my heart hurt when u read the bad comments from people you are a fabulous co host!! dont pay any attention love ya!!!!xoxo
I love George! He is the best!
He's not everyone's cup of tea and that's okay. Everyone is entitled to an opinion just how you stated yours
🤔Who borrows $15,000 to pay a hospital bill? I worked in Patient Access (i.e. taking the money) for 4yrs. In most hospitals, there is a program called Financial Assistance, and he PROBABLY qualified for it. My heart goes out to the young lady. She learned a very expensive lesson. This makes me so mad, And makes me wonder if the hospital actually received all of the money🤦♀️.
I’m sure that uncle stole his nieces money and used the situation with grandpa to get it from her
EXACTLYYYYY
It is so so hard to get access to that help.
I tried to apply for that one time and I was told that I had to pay so many hundreds of dollars first and if it wasn't approved within 3 months then it was all due. With interest. And by the way it can take up to 2 years to get an answer on your application. And that is called financial assistance?? 😢@@ThemommaBear195
My dad did this to me and my mom forced him to pay me back. She never got her money back. I just now got out of debt. It took many years.
They really took $15,000 from that baby😟
I was so angry that her uncle did that!
That call where uncle took 15k from the college kid really bugged me. 😕😳 Family and business Rarely works out.
Yes.
I had an older cousin borrow $100 from me when I was 11 years old. The money was a gift from my aunt and he basically manipulated it from me. Needless to say, I never got it back. Still bugs me to this day.
Stay home and raise your own kids. Priceless
we traded a house payment that was 1700 a month for a paid off single wide house on paid off 2 acres of land (thanks to an enharitance) so I could stay home and homeschool our kids and it was the best decision we made and now were saving to build a house in cash in 10 years. downsizing is a great choice if it is what YOU want, dont worry about what other people think they are living like everyone else. we as a community are trying to change our family trees :)
O my lord. Kathy is 21 now Dave, he took money from her a year and a half ago and still didn't return a dime. He robbed her when she was 19 Dave, she's 21 now, a year and half ahead. So effin sad!!! Kathy, if you learn something besides don't lend money you can't part with and above all else keep your financial information for your self. Sorry this happened to you honey.
“Unless you’re buying me a new car…”
“Well, indirectly!!” 😂🤣
Progressive is horrible. Not sure how Dave can say they are not bad.
This sweet young lady is a prime example of why personal finance and money principles should be taught in school, starting from a very young age. I was lucky enough that my parents taught me, but if your parents aren't good with money, then where else are you gonna learn??
Your parents should teach you, the government doesn't want you to know
Learn on your own! You can read and research as a hobby. You don't need an institution except maybe the library
Like every thing in life…. Sink or swim lol! I send videos to my nephews and nieces about money management because no one showed me before the internet. Whether they take heed or not, I’ve done my part!
My daughter's high school is teaching it. It will change these kids lives. Low income area. Plus it helped me communicate with my daughter about how to handle and respect finances etc.
Parents can't teach what they don't know.
By the way did they teach you about the birds and the bees?
That Pariah preyed upon his own family, disgusting! Be strong Cathy that idiot Uncle just showed you who he is and you don't have to ever deal with him again, he no longer exists.
I LOVE GEORGE AND DAVE!! Love the dynamics, funny and educational, love it! Keep these coming 🙌🏼
Hi Dave and George, greetings from Surrey, England. I love your show. Nearly 100% debt free.
Make that 2 from Surrey England! GU25 represent!
That truck driver who called in is worse than a hot mess - he is financially and emotionally abusive!
I loan my brother $30000 to buy a home when I was 22 , he paid me back with interest
Lol. I’m with George! I have a 2010 Ford Fusion I bought used with a few dings on it now. I don’t plan to get rid of it anytime soon. Not until kids outnumber it (realistically my husband and I will probably swap vehicles then- he has a 2014 Honda Pilot) or it no longer runs 😂! We are debt free and working on BS3B, BS4, and BS5.
You don't need kids. Upgrade the car 🚨
Can I just say.... I love George and Dave together! My favorite!
Same !!
Me too!
It's a perfect duo!
That rat bag?! lol jk jk!!! I love them too!!
I love your boldness Dave about the lousy uncle without integrity.
Yeah that happened to me also when I was also 21 years old and living at home....with my father borrowing money from me for the mortgage, and I was living at home and going to school (California is expensive). He bullied me into saying "Well you want to live here don't YOU!" "You have to take care of family!" (He said the same thing). I was being bullied and let him borrow it. I was able to drive my mom's car during the summer while I was waiting on buying a car....I never got that cash back... BUT eventually I forced him to co-sign for a car bought at the end of the summer (I had no credit at the time). It was quickly when I learned that my childhood image of my father was NOT the same as an adult. He is not great at honoring his word with finances. He is an impulsive person. Ever since then I kept EVERTHING separate... no joint car insurance, no joint phone bills... nothing.
Wow, I would never take money from my children, unless it was absolutely an emergency of some sort.
Was he borrowing your money, or was you paying rent? If it's the latter, I see nothing wrong with that. Teen and adult children need to make some sort of financial contribution to the household if they're still living at home, it prepares them for real life. I did so without even being asked when I came of age.
Children who earn an income and still live at home but don't make contributions to the household (whether the parents make them or not) seem to become lazy, spoilt and self entitled.
Is that not rent?. If you were over 18 should you not pay to stay in your fathers house ? My adults kids are not staying in our house for free. Once they hit 19 I want rent. I give them a year to figure it out.
If the money actually went to the grandpa’s bills…
Exactly what I said! That money ain't go to no hospital bills. Where is the receipt? She's young though. She will learn. Life will teach you.
Mean tweets segment fell flat. You guys are not suited to that.
Stop caring about what people think about your life unless they pay your bills.
Yes! I love when Gorge Kemel on .. He my Favorite .. He tells it like it's..
It's spelled Jorge.
@Bryan Akers
Sorry I didnt spell it rite.
It's actually pronounced George Kamel!
🎤⬇
Life is great how we all have different opinions. George is simply a kiss a …, I miss Christy
@@jasondavis5300 Just messing with ya. ;)
I hope the uncle did pay the hospital bill and didn’t blow the money. Also, why would the uncle even know she had the money saved, keep your finances to yourself.
My question... Why pay cash for medical bills??? You can pay as little as 5$ a month without it going to a collector
Exactly! I am afraid she was taken advantage of, hopefully her dad or a free attorney will be able to insist the money is paid back. Uncle may need some strong arm persuasion.
Why? Because followers of Dave's plan think that there's no such thing as good debt. Not to mention, we should all be people of integrity. If you received medical services, then you should pay for those medical services.
@@mikeghiradelli1163 She didn’t receive any medical services. Neither did her Uncle, so what exactly is your point? Or are you just blubbering to feel superior without any regard for the actual facts of the situation.
I'm just saying...MISTY might be the problem. A boy is psychologically drawn to his mama...it takes A LOT to leave & it isn't just dad's opinion of her. She's not telling the full story at all.
I will never understand how people can go on his show and ask the most airheaded questions
It’s good though, if they’re here they can learn.
George is fast becoming my favorite!
George will say what he thinks
100%
💯
I love the chemistry of these two!! So funny!!
I hope the couple are enjoying their new baby and now able to move ahead on the same page for money, marriage and family.
The Ramsey kids were raised riding around in an Astro! I knew Rachel and I were twins!
And it's "fewer"..."we need fewer children in this family." (Pet peeve)
Oh what’s with the hate on George?! I met him in person when we visited the studio a few years ago, and George was so sweet and funny. By far my favorite personality of everybody!!!
Me, too.
It’s just the green monster. Jealousy. We love George!
it is hard to say no to family for me
I sure hope Kathy is in a better place these days millions of miles away from her toxic uncle and family I wish her all the best from 🇦🇺 🤗😊🤗
I’m up for the S.W.A.T Team Dave 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Count me in!💪🏼
Anyone here from Cleveland Ohio? I need motivation coz this debt free journey is hard without cheering squad!!! Down to 60k from 78k in student loan in 6 months and I'm feeling the burn!!
YOU CAN DO IT!! 🎉🎉
@@frumpusnumpus thank you. I'm now down to 48k !!!
When my kids say, “butthole” 😡
When Dave Ramsey says, “butthole.” 🤣
George Kamel is awesome!!!
The sad thing is they have only been in the house 2 years and if you use a realtor to sell the house and you pay them 4-5% just to sell your house. Try to sell it yourself.
There might be an economical turmoil but there is no doubt that this is still the best time to invest.
Best time to invest? thats funny though because in the last four months I have lost more than $47,900 in stock market which is the biggest I have loss since I ventured into stock investment.
you could be right or wrong depends on your expertise, I once made such loss when i invested thinking i have gathered enough trading skills from youtube videos
now its a different ball game for me because I was lucky to have met TERESA JENSEN WHITE, a financial manager and stock expert, I have made more than $165,000 in 6 weeks under her supervisions.
Really? people are cashing in from the stock market and frankly speaking its comforting seeing someone admit to the fact that they actually seek help from professionals. please how can i reach TERESA ?
search her name on the internet to reach her
Grampa is the only one legally responsible for his hospital bill, not Dad, Uncle and certainly not Granddaughter.
Thank you for sharing Jessica's email.
Downsize then she can stay home.
Anyone else here to leave nice comments for THE GEORGE KAMEL, BECAUSE HE'S AWESOME! :)
**LAUGHING AND SPILLING COFFEE** Dave has thee BEST "Rich Dad" clap backs! The information is AMAZING and the jokes are the cherry! Bless you ALL!
Wow! This is the first time I listened to you. This is a little bit of everything. A lot about boundaries, values, God, straight forward and direct. LOVE.
Dysfunctional families: my mother-in-law gifted my son $20k over 2 years to pay for his college. My younger daughter begrudgingly got $10k. She always made it clear that my son was her favorite. She said she knew when my daughter was 3 years old and wouldn’t hold her hand (during her yearly visit from across the country), that they would never be close. She doesn’t understand why my now adult children don’t like her. 🙄
This sounds bad. Be happy with what you get. It's not mandatory to gift an equal amount of money or any money at all for that mather.
@@foolisz It’s unfair. I would rather have her give them nothing if she is going to play favorites.
I wish Ramsay would suggest these low income people applying for financial assistance from hospitals when they have these huge medical bills.
George, you are wise beyond! I love you and Dave!
I always get told these words, " Well, don't you want him/her to have a good life?" Step-family sucks most of the time.
Where do you Apply For the Ramsey swat teem
IMO - What a cruel husband to leave his wife, and take money 9 days before the delivery date. Shame on him for lying, as well. Women go through a lot carrying a baby plus taking care of the other children. Men would rewrite the Bible if they were able to get pregnant.
"...the seven people left on FB..."
LOL
Don’t ever lend any money you are going to be needing down the road. Lend money only if you are ok to part away with, if you get it back it is a win, if you don’t then the thing you lose is trust on that person.
The borrower is never in a position of having excess to give back. She was only 21 & taken advantage of
O my lord. Kathy is 21 now Dave, he took money from her a year and a half ago and still didn't return a dime. He robbed her when she was 19 Dave, she's 21 now, a year and half ahead. So effin sad!!! Welp she won't be letting anyone borrow money.
Give George a raise! He's really good
Absolutely love when Dave and George host! The two together are the best personality matches of the show. Love George's quick wit to match Dave's brilliance.
I’m so - x
This is why you can't let anyone know you have a savings or any money. They come sniffing around. The moment I bought another car, my brother tricked me out of my older car. I should have told him I had a title loan on it. A few months later he turned around and sold my car for 4000. I never got anything out of it but a guilt trip.
But at least you learned a very important lesson in life and have never repeated it.
Don't ever loan money you can't afford to lose. Period. Larry Burkett said this I believe. Yes, I'm that old but debt free including mortgage on our house. I'm a stay at home wife now running an Airbnb in our home. More vacation rentals are coming as we build wealth. Thanks Larry Burkett and Dave Ramsey for your "wealth" of knowledge.
Feel bad for the 21 year old.. 15k smh
Hahaha. The comments were hilarious! I might start reading them from now on 😂 I think George is great. Especially together with Dave, the duo is hilarious. I think is the millennial comments he throws at Dave and Dave replies are the best
Is this why money is the number one reason for divorce? Is financial infidelity cause for divorce? Can you have a healthy relationship without trust or respect? What is the solution? Separation? Divorce? Keep fighting?
Funniest thing I head was on TikTok that Dave’s advise doesn’t work for millennials and younger because you have to have fun experience and make memories when young. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Oh boy ...
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣
Ha ha
@7:45 I feel personally attacked. I drive a 1994 Honda Accord that I've had since 2012. 300k miles, no payment, cheap insurance, and I couldn't care less about door dings if you could even find them at this point.
Very smart I keep trying to convince my spouse this is the best way to live
They lose me everytime they tell someone to work full time and go to school full time. 9 times out of 10 that is not going to work.
So then work ft and school pt. No excuse
I'm a mother of 2, did ft work, ft school, dropped to pt school, was team mom for my daughter's cheer team and went through morning sickness with my 3rd kid during my final classes. No excuses. I got my 2nd degree and walk at 7 months pregnant in June.
Mothers do it all the time. My mother did it with 3 elementary school kids under her belt. It wasn't fun or easy, but she did it and was able to significantly increase her paycheck with her new and improved skills/degree after 4 years of grinding it out. You can definitely make some adjustments in your schedule and get it done. It will be painful, but it's not impossible.
The hospital would have done a no interest payment plan. What a total pos Uncle. This is a 15k hard lesson for her to learn.
My heart ls broken for the 21 year old. I hope someone can Gofundme her that money back.
Love the Ramsey show and believe in most of what he says. I still use a credit card but use it like a debit card, always pay it off in full every month, and stick to my budget. I get 5% back on my CC purchases and no fees. Yes 5% back is not going to make me rich but it does add up!
I pay my credit cards every Sunday evening. 5% gas, 5% eat out, 6% supermarkets. Yes it adds up!!
I do the same. And take the points bonus as gift cards for restaurants. We use them when traveling and helps to cut costs on the road!
The college kid should not have let her finances be known. If the uncle is in his 40s, the dad probably on medicare...the uncle did not use the full 15k on hospital. She should go to his dad's family and inquire. She should also email or text every communication so he will admit in writing....maybe ask him if he can make payments, and his response may confirm the loan...Be very nice so as not to put him on defensive...
Even if she does decide to work I think downsizing would be the option because of the price of childcare for a newborn.
Some blow through $100k in months without trying especially in expensive cities despite an $18 hr minimum
I posted my Honda 2005 used on Facebook I felt like it was a brand new car man honestly Not having a car payment is the reason I’m a homeowner now I was able to save a really good down payment for a house
Her uncle robbed her. She is not getting that money back.
Sounds like you've reached your limit on kids
Anyone else get hostage vibea from ALL the co hosts? 😂😂 Im laughing but it does feel Uncomfortable
A bit lol but he's probably just learning from big D
The call with the Uncle, If that was my little sister the Uncle would have got a Laying on of Hands and Im not talking Biblically .
Its odd that state farm is considered bad there. In the Midwest they've been known to pay all claims and stand by their people whereas progressive was the company that was hard to deal with or even get a claim handled.
Comical, Don't live above your means!!!! I'm almost debt free except a small college loan sigh
Want to see how people really are? Wait till money is involved.
