There's still so many questions here, but I couldn't really add them into the main story without REALLY taking this off on a tangent.
*Why do we see no Dragoons with fully grown Wyrms?*
This is probably because the founding principle of the Dragoons was to develop young Wyverns into noble Wyrms before letting them go. The Dragoons wanted to not only gain the power to defeat evil Wyrms but also prevent more from coming about in the first place. By introducing holy Wyverns back among their kin Dragoons were helping prevent evil wyrms from being a problem. It also stands to reason that a Dragoon, still a mortal person, could not withstand the sheer power a fully grown Wyrm would give them if they maintained a spiritual link beyond a certain point. This is likely why Erpalacion released his first Wyvern. It's also why we don't see Areuhat with a crest either.
The crux of it is what we see in group behavioral psychology in our own world. Change has to come from within a group otherwise there's a real chance of it being rejected.
*Why-Vern? Is that how it's pronounced?*
Yep. Wyvern derives from the Welsh word 'waivern'. The 'i' is emphasised.
*Why was there a San d'Orian Civil War?*
For that we have to go back almost a century before the events here.
King Raigegue R d'Oraguille, ancestor to Ranperre, was a young and ambitious king. He was also very fond of war... up until the point he suffered a humilitating defeat to the Republic of Bastok in the Second Battle of Konschtat. Knowing they would lose further in their current state, his brother Fellenant stepped in to take control of the Kingdom in an effort to make peace with the emergent rival superpower on the continent; if anything to buy time lest Bastok counter-attacked and crushed them outright. Raigegue's faction in the royal court did not like this development, not one bit. A civil war soon erupted over claims of Fellenant having usurped his brother's throne on behalf of Bastok, and because peace seldom sells.
*Why were the Dragoons not called in to crush the Republic of Bastok, if not the insurgency?*
It's heavily implied here, in this very story, that the Dragoons were the "Nuclear Option" for the incumbent King of San d'Oria. If a Dragoon killed people with no sins to answer for, especially in excess like a war (civil or not) would demand, then they would likely inflict an unholy crest on their Wyvern; in turn turning themselves to darkness and putting their people and liege in danger. Dragoons were also very rare so they were a precious resource usually only reserved for the most dire of situations, like a Dark Dragon attacking the kingdom.
Erpalacion almost suffered this exact fate, but he knew better than to just let it happen; for his own sake and for others.
*How did the Republic of Bastok manage to defeat San d'Oria?*
The Mog House did an excellent video on the entire battle (ua-cam.com/video/gtbbnTbGXAs/v-deo.html) but a lot of it was down to the republic simply having brilliant commanders directing the battle. Among the most famous of these was Gunther Schultz. Who was he...? That's a tale for next time, and believe me... it's a heck of a tale.

Also, they lost the battle of Konschtat because they were fighting ni a uphill terrain using medieval swords and spears while Bastok had the high ground, guns, the rock formations uphill are extremely defensible and great for ambushes. Also, the windmills along the way are Sandorian. This clicks so well with the fact that elvaans have the lowest INT stat...
Anyway, fantastic work! I hadn't made the connection about professor Chanoix's lineage.

Any chance you could do a video on how to maximize ffxi graphics settings? Id thought I'd figured it out but your videos look way better than my setup. I've got hardware so that shouldn't be the limiting factor.
