How to Make No-smell Pig Pen, Backyard Piggery, Baboyang Walang Amoy

- The foul smell of the pig pen is the number one problem when it comes to having a backyard piggery, but thanks to the "baboyang walang amoy" technology because the stinky smell of a piggery in a backyard becomes a lesser problem.
On this video, you will see how to make a no-smell or odorless pig pen in your backyard, by using rice hull instead of concrete flooring.
LOCATION: Alamada, Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines
MATERIALS:
- 150 pieces hollow blocks (concrete blocks)
- 3 cubic meters sand
- 10 bags cement
- 3 packs water proofing compound (Sahara)
- 10 pieces 8mm steel bars
- 1kg wire (for steel bars)
- 12 pieces 2"x3"x10' lumber
- 10 pieces 2"x4"x10' lumber
- 12 pieces 2"x2"x10' lumber
- 5kg No.3 nails
- 150 pieces 1 meter long whole bamboo (preferably Bayog/Luzonensis variety)
- 20 sacks rice hull
- old tarpaulins and coconut palms for roofing

This kind of pig pen is patterned according to the design endorsed by the Profitable Innovative Growing System (P.I.G.S.) program. This system is being promoted by FEEDPRO - a brand of feeds for hogs and chickens.
As you can see in this video, the pig pen surface is subdivided into three segments :
1) Feeding through - which has a width and depth of 8 inches. The length depends on the number of pigs you are keeping or ideally , it can be of the same length of the whole pen.
2) Wallowing pool - the width is one meter ideally and the depth of the water should be an inch (1 inch for piglets and 2-3 inches for two - three month old pigs)
The drinking nipple as you can see in the video is placed on the same side of the wallowing pool.
This pool has two main purpose: a) pigs will deep themselves in the water if they are feeling hot, and b) pigs are usually stimulated to urinate and defecate in a pool of water . Thus, the wallowing pool water should be changed once or two times a day. That is why the drain should be connected to a specially designed filtration system.
3) The Main Pen Surface - this surface mimics the pigs natural environment (which is soil and grass) that is why it should be covered with three feet deep of rice hulls or saw dust ( can be combination of both ). This gives the pigs an opportunity to play , dig and make themselves warm and dry.
Another important aspect is the wall of the pen . The solid wall should only be a foot tall and the rest - at least on the opposite side of the wallowing pool; should be made grill. Wooden or steel.
This would allow the proper ventilation for the pigs.
All in all, this pig pen is designed to encourage the pigs natural behaviour and at the same time lessening the chances of stress. Thus, making them grown faster without much health problems.
HOWEVER!!! The only way to achieve that he odourless pig pen is all about the feeds you give to your pigs . FEEDPRO feeds are formulated to be organic and contains natural plant extracts that lessens the proteins in the pigs manure which causes foul odour. FEEDPRO feeds also contains probiotics for better absorption and assimilation of food which makes them grow faster.

At the back you can dig down a meter x 1 metre ans a slat with gaps for pig poop to drop through. Put an old wheel barrow under and wheel poop to garden or methane generator. Pigs are bery clean animals given the chance. I always got top price for pigs because they were cleaned up in a sty like yours before sale
