He is close to tears along with us. We are with him, even if you can't see us. He is with us, even if we can't see him. He loves us all, just as we love him. ||-// stay alive ||-//
People always keep telling me "you've got everything, why are you like this?" It's not the things, your parents money or the material that matters. It's not the number of people you have around you. It's about you. The way YOU were treated by those close to you, the way YOU perceive the world, the struggles YOU ve been having to complete some ordinary tasks. You are different so don t compare to others. But what we all have to do is to stay alive
I see you, I appreciate the battles you fight, you're right it's not about comparing pain, it's about having compassion for your own pain and that of others. You know what's ironic, people recognize that certain people are worse off yet do nothing to help, those people should stay quiet in such matters. If they are willing to ask why? they should have the patience to listen not have preconceived notion of whether an individual's pain is valid or not. Collectively as a culture we think so illogically and feel so little that it's really a shame to have all the material things we have because we actually don't know how to use it properly.
Jared Padelecki, one of the stars of the show Supernatural, had to deal with this, and he's been an outspoken activist about it. He was diagnosed with depression literally on set, and has been struggling with it for a long time. Plenty of people have basically said things like, "You're the star of a huge hit show, you're rich, you have a beautiful wife and kid, tons of friends and fans. What is there to be depressed about?" And he usually goes off on those people. Because like you said, it's not about what you have, it's about how you think, and that's a totally different can of worms. People who don't struggle with mental illness often don't understand what it's like for your own thoughts to be out of your control. It's the scariest part of it all, to me at least, but those who don't know how it feels are just like, "So... don't think like that? Don't think those things? Think positively!" It's a bit like telling a healthy person, "Oh, you like clouds? So just jump real high and touch them!"
Man, I so proud of Tyler. He's come such a long way. And every time he says "but they won't get em", I can feel the sensarity and I realize that I don't have to worry about him killing himself anymore.
I lost a friend to suicide this week. This song has been instrumental in helping my compartmentalize and process my feelings. I've been a fan of top's music for years but this song just means so much more to me now.
This happened to someone I knew recently, and I have to say that I feel the same thing. Sometimes we're very detached from what we see through social media, but when it happens so close to you, it makes you realize how valuable life is and how painful this subject is. Tyler wrote a song about what it's like to lose a friend on his college album, No Phun Intended. It's called Taken By Sleep. Very emotional, but definitely a recommendation. Also, I've seen your channel before. Keep up the great work on your music.
In my 37 yrs of life, I have not been so passionate about someone's music, until I found out about Twenty One Pilots. I love this band so much and want everything good to come to them. Their music makes me so happy.
I think it's beautiful that I'm a lot younger and I'm also so passionate about their music. I'm so proud of them being able to touch different generations
So many likes, wow, thanks! I have 5 kids and they all love them as much as I do..I'm so happy to have that in common with them. Their ages are 15, 13, 12, 10 and 7. My husband does too but not to that extend. Lol
Damn theres so much emotions in Tyler during this song. The way he clenches his fists at 2:05 and just his facial expression. There's a lot going on there...
Also the vocal cracks, which are most noticeable right after 2:05 and then at the end with "find your grandparents." He's a good performer, so he's good at hiding it, but when you put together his expression, his body language, and his voice, he was probably about to cry and trying to hold it in. I'm proud of him for singing like that tbh - it's so much easier to just detach yourself from your work, but Tyler refuses to do so.
@@user_28373 you get it especially when it happened once to many times. One should never have happened in the first place. The beautiful part of the song is the celebration of life and understanding your elders know more than you. Not that you can't learn from the younger to . Nothing wrong with having some kind of anxiety now that's turned in to a big stigma . To Bad when people try to figure you out some will assume you don't have self-esteem or something else . "Find your grandparents or someone of age, pay some respects for the path that they paved. To life they were dedicated, now that should be celebrated." My husband's grandmother was in ICU. We went to see her and then went to the concert (had bought the tickets months before). Heard this song for the 1st time. When he sang this at the end, I just started quietly crying. She was gone a week later. She had such an impact on my life.
How could he go if he’s got everything. We’ll mourn for a kid but won’t cry for a king. Personally the deepest part of the song for me. The fact that his voice breaks after that part proves that it is for him too.
I was at their concert last night. He played this. Right. In front. Of. Me. I held up my hands in a heart. And he made eye contact with me for what felt like forever. Then, he held up one of his hands making half of a heart💕
I love how tyler has those little voice cracks, like the ones when you're crying. It just puts so much emotion into the song and shows how it still hits him to sing these songs. He's been through so fucking much
I thought the chorus part would sound awkward without all the sound effects from the original version but Tyler's unique voice and singing style nailed it! I hope to see more this kind of "purest" version of their songs!

since i've been avoiding tour spoilers like crazy, this is the first time i'm hearing him perform this song. man idk if i can handle seeing this in person. i might actually die
The concert was amazing!!! However. I felt and heard more emotion in this version because he had no one to perform for. Like his voice is breaking in this one and he is about to cry. However at the concert, he couldn’t get to that point because he was performing and had to go to the next song right away.
"promise me this; if i lose to myself, you won't mourn a day, and you'll move onto someone else" is still the most heartbreaking thing i've ever heard in my life
The desperation in his voice when he started to sing instead of rap the start of the second verse is just beautiful. Tyler, why do you have to be so amazing? You just do everything with such passion that men in our current culture are too afraid to admit to. Thank you for everything
It felts like he was in pain pain, of being torn between speaking the truth and of the love and of trying to speak without disrespecting. I feel like it was very emotional and raw and he had to pause from time to time.. it felt so true. I love and respect this guy so much.

Whenever Tyler Joseph sings I get chills. He is the best singer in my opinion, twenty øne piløts should be more famous then they are. And their songs have such strong meanings. They are just awesome!
3:25 to 3:38 is when you can feel the real power coming from his voice. From that very point it starts to sound like he’s gonna start to shout rather than sing because of how strong the message is.. and when it hits 3:36 his voice cracks because he has to compose himself and stop himself from shouting. It’s a truly powerful message and I can completely understand why this song is needed.

Thank you
Its a sickness, an illness that should be and must be taken serious just like anyother physical illness.
This comment just hit me. I don't even know what to say..

His voice seems so raw and real in both this and the version in the album. Tears me apart everytime.

Damn theres so much emotions in Tyler during this song. The way he clenches his fists at 2:05 and just his facial expression. There's a lot going on there...
Jesus I just noticed this
You can really see the pain he's experiencing behind his mask that everybody wears. Depression is a truly painful thing.
His facial expression right before he starts singing...
Those heavy piano notes at the beginning were perfect. Incredible performance.
rocketpilotss I agree!
@@user_28373 you get it especially when it happened once to many times. One should never have happened in the first place. The beautiful part of the song is the celebration of life and understanding your elders know more than you.
