I remember this game. There was just about 30,000 at it. It was a cup replay. There had been 1-1 draw at Celtic Park. I'm a Celtic fan, but just look at some of players St Mirren had then.

Tavy@ what a game that was. I had forgotten how great all those early scottish 1980s games were. A wouldnt be suprised if a was there at that game. I whent to every celtic game at love st. From 1980 to 1986. And alot of other games at love st. On a saturday and midweek to. They were great to watch then. There ground was called 'st mirren park' but every one called it love street. Becouse love st. Ran right along the st mirren end of the ground. But thancks for the upload mate! How a wish a could go back to they days of real men playing hard fast football with no favours asked and certainly none were given. And the st mirren players would have been lucky to be paid £120 a week then. And celtic the same! Ye wont see that again. Men playing for the same team for years just becouse thats what they wanted to do. Now a days a player would move every season if he was to gain half a million pound at least. Like maurice johnston choose rangers becouse celtic were ready to pay him 2 grand a week. Then souness phoned mojo and said "al make it 4 grand a week plus bonuses" and the greedy lieying wee snake took it. A dont believe thats why hes never seen on tv or thought of much. A believe its becouse he wasnt a great player. He was just your average pocher that depended on rebounds and pure luck at being in the 6 yard box when he scored. I have never saw him score a goal were hes beat a defender or two. Then made space to put the ball away. Never never. It was all one touch goals. And he missesd more than he scored. He bottled out the 50/50 ball but did it in a way he whent in for it lol. Mcoist was a better player than mojo. But not much. He too couldnt beat or dribble round a player. I have saw him numerous times get the ball at the 20 yard box with 2 defenders to beat and he had no choice but to wait on help wich by then the chance was gone. Mo was the exact same. He couldnt turn and face a man toe to toe then dribble round him or them and away and left them for dead with just the keeper to beat. And fans hate watching those type of forwards that couldnt dribble and couldnt head the ball into the net. As in a 5ft10 guy beating a player at 6ft2 and heading it into the net. As mcoist said that was his height 5ft11 he said once. Mcoist could head the ball but he very rarely out jumpend a player to score with hes head. Theres a huge diffrence. Any one can head a ball forward on hes own. To cut it short if we were to name the best 2000 players we have seen since 1970. Mojo and mcoist wouldnt even get a mention! Or even 4000

Doyle was a diving cheat. Ended up with more watts in him than a Marshall amp. Oh how I rejoiced.

What an atmosphere. Didn’t get in, must have been 10,000 locked out. Biggest crowd at Love St since home end rebuilt in early 70s. Glorious days.

just like the 1962 scottish cup semi final at ibrox minus the pitch invasion to try and get the game abandoned when they were getting humped, celtic fans start throwing cans and bottles at the linesman and referee when things are going against them simply for having the temerity to send off an old firm player, some things never change i guess.
if only stmirren had won this game scottish football would never have had to live with the shame of the bigot brothers at hampden that May disgracing "their country" LOL that led to the banning of alchohol from football grounds when it should have been the banning of the old firm from football .

thats right because the fans of other teams in scotland are all angels. usual shite from the fan of a provincial club. im going to assume youre a st midden fan ( apologies if youre not). well in the 80s in particular your club had its fair share of idiot fans . my friend a Rangers fan , was in Paisley for a game in the late 80s , he had been working in the morning and headed over slightly late, missing the football special and having to get a service train. when he got off the train he was set about by some of the "LSD" with one of them stabbing him with what appeared to be a screwdriver. so spare me the pish that celtic / rangers are the only clubs with idiot fans. they only have more because they have more fans thats all. other clubs have proportionally the same amount of clowns following them. and as for the phrase " bigot brothers" again spare me your mock indignation, ive had sectarian abuse thrown at me at every ground in scotland..love st included... with the exception of easter rd and pittodrie

@@Jimmy_Cooper he missed the football special from glasgow to paisley? he had to get a service train? I assume you dont even know where these 2 places are. you dont need a football special train from Glasgow to Paisley, there are in the late 80s at least 9 trains every hour or every 6 minutes.
2 to Ayr, Largs,Gourock, Wemyss Bay and 1 to Stranraer.
You werent going to many games in the 80s if you never heard sectarian abuse at Easter road or pittodrie. Old Firm fans spout this noinsense at every ground they go to then and till this day.
your friend who missed the "special* in the late 80s to paisley and was stabbed with a screwdriver was likely with his ICF pals and deserved it. Rangers fans were among the worst for using knifes along with Celtic.
You talk as much shite as your youtube namesake.
I dont remember any other Scottish Cup finals/semi final that were televised games in my lifetime where pitch invasions and fighting occured that didnt involve one of the bigot brothers.

brian marshall ...truth hurts doesnt it ya daft prick ...😂. anyway aye yer right stupid appearance i dont know where Paisley and Glasgow are🙄....gies peace ffs. Love St was my first away game in the mid 70s and i was at the game in the clip with my auld fella.I can also assure you football specials ran every week ,no matter where Celtic or Rangers where playing , up until late 80s early 90s. As for my friend ,he may well have been ICF ... he might well not have been.. doesnt matter ?? Point is he was on his own making his way to Love St , slightly after kick off , and was attcked and stabbed by St Mirren fans/ casuals.. thats a fact . Like or or lump it ... it happened. And he didnt deserve it . If you think he did then youre just as bad as the cowardly pricks who done it. Ive been going to football for the best part of 40 years( probably a wee bit longer) and ive been to most away grounds Scotland that Celtic have played at in that time ,and i stand by what i said ...ive had sectarian abuse at all of them bar Easter Rd and Pittodrie... ive had verbals at these grounds ...but not of a sectarian nature . Fans of other clubs might have had different experiences there, but those are mine ,and ive been to both grounds dozens of times. Fact is sectarian abuse happens at all grounds in Scotland ( including whatever stupid name youre now calling New St Mirren Pk) not just Celtic Park and Ibrox.....deal with it . I think youre the one who probably doesnt attend games my man.

@@Jimmy_Cooper An isolated incident in Paisley doesnt have any relevance or comparison to a nationally televised disgrace that led to draconian measures for all Scottish football fans all because a late goal lost Rangers the cup and i dont hide the fact i wanted Celtic to win as it meant St Mirren and not Rangers got into Europe the next season.
Had Rangers won Celtic would have got the Uefa spot and Rangers who pipped Partick and Morton by a point to secure 5th place would have had the CWC spot.

    • @Jimmy_Cooper

brian marshall..theres been numerous incidents over the years involving other clubs outwith us and Rangers. Been more pitch encroachments from fans at Hibs v Hearts games over the last 20 years than either Celtic or Rangers. Dundee fans invaded the park and assaulted a keeper. Airdrie fans invaded the park at Somerset. St Mirrens wee group the North Bank throwing objects at Rangers players, and the CCTV of St Mirren and Hamilton going at it outside a pub in Paisley town centre, Tavenier assaulted at Easter Rd, where 3 days earlier Scott Sinclair was only just missed by a Buckfast bottle thrown from the same east stand at Easter Rd,where Taverniers assailant came from. Lennon attacked by a fan at Tynecastle. Aberdeen fans invading the park at Pittodrie v Rangers and assaulting a pensioner, Motherwell fans racially abusing Jason Scotland, and the same fans last season throwing objects at the aformentioned Tavernier,Motherwell and Airdrie fans bringing Airdrie town centre to a standstill while they fought running battles. Airdrie and Partick Thistle having a 100+ man tear up at St Georges cross on a Saturday afternoon, the list goes on and on ,where Celtic or Rangers are not the guilty party. This is not to say they are any shrinking violets( either of them) but i reiterate they are not the only clubs with morons amongst them . They just have more because they have the biggest following.People in glass houses👍🏻

I was there. Dangerous and frightening conditions outside the ground. Police should have cleared the place. Sickened by the fact that the bigots berated Johnny Doyle near the end even though he won the game for them in extra (bigot) time.

St, mirrens first goal , sad to say as a celtic fan but Peter Latchford slow and over weight. I would have caught that if I was that age.
