  • We do our first attempt at auto sheet metal repairs on our dirt cheap 72' nova budget build project. We start by removing all the rusty metal and replacing it with goodmark floor pans.

    I like your nova project it reminds me of my 67 Camero bracket racing project . You starting from the beginning videos are great. Looking at your videos makes me feel younger. Keep on doing what your doing.

    Good job on the floor pans. You used free sheet metal, saved from being thrown away. You are saving the body from being scraped or recycled. You learned a lot of techniques for your next projects. Maybe that will be your sons car one day. I have had several Novas with that body style. As of right now, one has been passed to my grandson (20 years old ) and the other one was bought 30 something year’s ago as a project for my son ( 41 years old ). Mine was bought at a estate sale, owned by a ( 101 year old man ) all good drivers almost show cars. All three are 1972 Nova’s.

      Thank you I appreciate it! I was pretty apprehensive as it was my first time ever trying anything like this but I was super happy with the way it turned out

    “The only way you’re going to learn how to work on these cars is to just do it and figure it out”
    Couldn’t have said it better myself, great video! Looks great, can’t wait to try the same on my car and this is a good guideline for what I’ll be getting into
    Didn’t think to look at the torque boxes so I’m going to go check that out in case they are bad
    Can’t wait to see how this will turn out once you paint the floor and seal it all up!

    I Love how much of the original paint is still left. Leave the patina, it looks good on that color Blue!

    Nice job. Mine needed about the same as yours. I have the driver side done but still need to get the passenger side. Been lazy but I will get after it again soon.

    You can use panels off air conditioners they are excellent to use and won’t rust if you paint them or undercoat them. You can get them from a AC person. FYI.

    Awesome video dude, super helpful! I’m having a tough time finding wheels I like with a 5.25 back spacing. Do you know if a 5 or 5.5 would still fit the 275?

    • @hatchsrecreationalengineer1997
      @hatchsrecreationalengineer1997  2 роки тому +1

      Some people run a 5” or 5.5” back space and are still able to get away with the 275. However every nova is a little bit different and the 5.25” is the most universal fit backspace to ensure that the 275 will fit without modifying your car (rolling or cutting quarter lip, or relocating shocks). A 5.25 back space is pretty hard to find which is why I went with a steel wheel that I could custom order the backspace I wanted. Glad you enjoyed the video I really appreciate it!
