A friend had a breeding pair of Oscars but couldn't get the fry to survive past 3 days. I did a bunch of research and set up a small tank specifically for hatching Oscars including the chemistry of the water. The next time his Oscar laid eggs I got a few hundred eggs (they can not be exposed to air in the transfer) and hatched them with about 85% survival. Feeding them is pretty insane. They are vicious fry and will cannibalize even when well fed with young Mollies and Barbs. Yes, bigger fish eat smaller fish.

I understand Lamprologus to mean bright or brilliant eyes. Adding neo means new. Probably found after the original Lamprologus species. Lampro appears Greek and the nearest I could find for logus was windows in Latvian. Colonising species like Brichardi and Multifasciatus do breed like rabbits, however so maybe there's something in your theory.

Sexual dimorphism is really cool cause you basically get two possible creatures from the same set of DNA.

I think Chester looks more like a rabbit than those fish do.
