- This time in the shop it is below zero outside so we decide to fix the 2014 Dodge Charger R/T AWD. The half shaft was leaking grease. Overall not a hard job, if we did it so can you. Hope you enjoy the video!

Good group of guys here, show that work fellas. Workin hard and proud nothing wrong w some blues clues along the way hahaha
Upper ball joint and spring clevis are the only thing you need to remove to replace the axle, for those who only need to replace the axle
Great job camera man. Let the young buck do the grunt work. You guys are fun to watch
Haha thanks! The heat is in the tools! Especially on the cold days
Very helpful thanks guys
No problem! Glad we could help!
I appreciate the help on this. Good vid.
Great video. I have replaced a few axles on these cars and found you don't need to disconnect the sway bar link or strut fork at the strut. Just remove the bolt holding the fork to the lower control arm, the upper ball joint and there is enough movement in the control arm bushings and strut mount to sneak the axle out.
Good to know! Thanks for the input!
I even leave the tie rod attached, Just turn the wheel all the way over and the fork bolt comes out pretty as you please. Thank you for the Videos! Also, nice drive, looks like where I lived in norther Montana.
Wow a year later we are coming back to this video for help 😂
I paid a guy to do my cv because I couldn't find time. I'm finding time to fix his work because he didn't seat the cv all the way. Oh and the strut fork bolt.. he somehow mounted it reverse and it will likely be cut off because no matter what I do I can't get it off. Once the nut comes off the bolt is stuck in place.. only 1k miles on his handy work. Shoulda just found the time 😂
Sorry you had to deal with that. Thanks for watching
Bummer, was hoping was the rear half-shaft.. having a real joy doing my RR on my AWD Charger... won't press into side gear.. and see they want you to use specialty tool to protect seal, supposed to replace as well.. Tech Authority disc wanted me to drop entire pumpkin to pull an axle, I just tore off the one side, wanted to inspect bearing and rest anyhow. off to see if anyone did a rear.. found out the lower rear outer spring arm bushing pivots, no one seemed to know, thought mine was bad, wasn't...
Sorry we couldn’t help. Have not had to work on the rear end of one of these yet. Thanks for watching.
@@jerayracingreplacement shaft was 0.010" larger at splines.. trying another vendor. they showed 3 different rears based on ring gear size, then of course mine was a 4th... 200mm when 198-215-248 were common... fun fun..
Makes it a pain, good info thanks
How do you indentify what kind of axle you need? I know what type of vehicle my car is but there are many different types of axles. Just want to make sure I get the right part
They only had 1 listed for my car. If you buy thru your local parts store and give them your vin they should be able to get you the right part.
@@jerayracingOk, what’s the part?
Is it the same for a 2014 Chrysler 300?
It would be the same for a 300, other comments say I may have removed too many parts so read thru those. It’s best to take vin number to parts store and order local. Seems to be a few different part numbers on the shafts. Thanks for watching
@@jerayracingthanks, I appreciate you replying
good video
Sweet!!
How those axles holding up?
Really good!
@@jerayracing what did you do about the dust shields since the new ones done come with them?
Ricky’s old man here, axles holding up fine because the awd quit 😂 so no load on them. I reused the boot / dust shield from the old tie rod and used a hose clamp to hold it and it’s been no problem. Ended up replacing the other axle not much later. Thanks again for watching.

My AWD is doing weird shuddering randomly and now my AWD service light is on
Not an expert, but there is a solenoid that can go bad and a servo, related to the front drive disconnect that can give trouble. I haven’t had to dig into the awd on this one yet, I have 150k on mine.
I may bring mine over 4WD is clunking. May need a new front diff
Man that’s rough. Wish we could help but no video on that…yet lol
Screwdriver in the rotor and a breaker bar would off come of easy
Thanks for the tip
@jerayracing no problem I always stick a flat head in the vents of the rotor right against the caliper and use my long half inch drive breaker bar to free the axle nut the screwdriver just stops the wheel hub from spinning I did 3 in a month on my car lol
Great job Yall, that doesn't look like a fun job, BUT DANG!!! What kind of Frozen Wasteland to yall live in??? Shut It Down! HaHa
It wasn’t an easy job but definitely had worse! I just wish you could feel this wind chill lol thanks for watching and merry Christmas!
